figured I'd post being their are a few cougar fans here

Former Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Brian Stewart has been tabbed as the new defensive coordinator for the University of Houston Cougars.

Stewart spent 2007, and began 2008, at the helm of the Dallas defense before being relieved of his duties by head coach Wade Phillips mid-season last year. He stayed on as a consultant, and headed to Philadelphia last off-season, where he was a special consultant under Sean McDermott.

Great hire for UH, if they can clean up that defense UH could be a top 10 team in the nation next year.

Question though, are they transitioning to a 3-4? I heard that only 6 programs out of 500 something run the 3-4 base defense, tough to run those exotic schemes in college.

I don't think Stewart is a 34 guy. That's why he had so much trouble running Dallas' D.

He wasn't very good with the Cowboys. Why I don't know but the defense improved big time when he left.

Hopefully he'll find his niche at UH and be very successful. Their defense was so bad.
