Brashard Smith visits pre draft

SnakeEyes

Under NRG
Saw this earlier, kid is fast. Past that, he isn't a 3 down RB (unless he adds weight) 5' 10" 194lbs...but with a 4.39 40. As a 3rd down or long yardage RB...I can see it. He is in the top 10 rankings for all RBs. To me, I say 3rd round due to size...but could sneak into the 2nd due to great vision and hands.

Thoughts? Personally, I would rather have a Mixon 2.0 type. Just to be safe if Mixon starts showing age.

Yall get caught up with size too much. Without looking, how big is James cook of Buffalo who scored a zillion tds last year? 3rd and long is anything over 5 yds. Smith gives the team a rb who can git his head on the goal post as well as an ex wr by skill. Even if its 3rd and 3, he can be in the game.

In college he did that. But, I'm unsure if he can get chunk yards unless playing in space such as a screen. His film that I have watched hasn't been awful but it no question has things in it that cause you to pause and think "In the NFL he would be destroyed by the LB or DE on that play"

I dunno what film or clips you've watched, but there have been plenty of inside zone runs that he broke out big chunks. The NFL is about angles and the use of. As huge and powerful as Henry is, he functions on angles. He doesn't get hit square often. So even guys like Cook and Smith, they have to work on angles. I knew from the time Trent Richardson was drafted he was going to be a bust? Why? Guys in college was form tackling him. The good rbs in the NFL, you don't get clean shots on them. If it were me, I would draft Tuten and Smith. Other than Mixon who is 30, they don't have anyone worth a damn.

Plus the way he runs pass routes is top level stuff for a RB. Smith on a LB or even most S is a big play waiting to happen.

Give me a RB room of Mixon, Pierce, Smith or Tuten and O. I like Smith more than Tuten

Put this group of skill position players on the field and CJ will be dangerous.

WR, Collins, Kirk, Williams, Anias Smith, Metchie.

TE Taylor, Stover and unfortunately Schultz.

RB Mixon, Smith, Pierce, O.

Something tells me Schultz may not be on the roster day 1. Certain things have not been mentioned when the team speaks. One is Schultz...

I really like Brashard Smith as an offensive weapon - RB, WR and KR/KR. I like Tuten as well, although he has ball security issues.

I don't think Pierce is going to be part of the RB room. He hasn't shown much the last 2 years.

I have my doubts that Metchie will be anything more than WR4. He's been disappointing considering the draft capital spent on him.

Last season was his 1st healthy season. Metchie just hasn't been on the field to see what he has. This is likely make or break TC and/or season

Maybe the mocks are wrong, but I haven’t seen Smith above round 4. Mostly 5 or 6.

I like him as well. He could fit in very nicely with Mixon. Not sure he is a bell cow 3 down back, but not many are. I would be very happy to add him to the mix.

Pierce is likely here this year. He’s very good at KR. I also think they like him personally. Do they sign him to a 2nd contract? stay tuned on that.

Regarding Schultz, from what I’ve read, it’s nearly impossible to cut/trade him this year. Nothing is impossible but id guess he is on this roster. Hoping Caley can somehow get him back to his 2023 level, which was at least decent starter level.

What I like about Brashard Smith is in addition to being a weapon as a 3rd down RB, he can KR/PR and if say one of Kirk/drafted WR gets hurt you can put him in the slot and still have gme breaking speed at the WR position. He's like a swiss army knife and that's very valuable. No more running slowpokes like Metchie/Hutch out there when guys get hurt. You'll always have guys out there that are threats to score anytime they touch the ball. That's worth a 3rd rd pick for me. Of course I would love to see Brashard Smith run a Texas route or a wheel route on a LB/S. That's almost not fair.

If you remember how much I liked Achane then you know how much I like Smith. Achane if a little faster, but Smith is plenty fast enough and is a much better threat out of the backfield.
