Howard is not the only player the Saints are trying to deal. The club also has shopped tight end Boo Williams and free safety Tebucky Jones around the league, two NFL sources said. Miami has expressed interest in Jones, sources said. If Jones isn’t dealt by Monday, he is expected to be released.

Williams and Jones became expendable when the Saints signed replacements at each position during free agency. Free safety Dwight Smith signed a five-year, $15 million contract on Monday and is expected to start opposite strong safety Jay Bellamy. Tight end Shad Meier agreed to a two-year, $1.6 million deal on Thursday. He is expected to back up Ernie Conwell.

Williams, 25, led Saints tight ends last season with 33 receptions for 362 yards and two touchdowns. In four seasons, he has 107 receptions for 1,143 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Anyone think we should take a look at Boo?

Not from what I can gather from his stats, but I have never seen him play. He started 11 games his rookie season and has started all 16 games the past 3 seasons. He has 107 catches for 1143 yards for average yard per catch of 10.7 throughout his career. Also he has only fumbled twice his entire career, both of those coming last season. Here is some bio stuff I found on him...

Played at Arkansas from 1999-2000 after transferring from Coffeyville (Kan.) CC. During two years at Arkansas he posted 80 receptions for 1,123 yards (14.0 average) and 11 TDs...Touchdown total ranks sixth on Arkansas' all-time scoring chart...Started every game at split end in 2000 and led the Razorbacks with 52 receptions for 739 yards and seven TDs...Appeared in eight games as a junior and had 28 grabs for 384 yards (13.7 avg.) and four TDs...Majored in sociology...Two-time All-American split end at Coffeyville, catching 83 passes for 1,687 yards and 21 TDs...Originally enrolled at Florida State, but transferred to Coffeyville.

Former undrafted free agent has developed into one of the top options for QB Aaron Brooks over the last two years. Williams has played in 43 games, with 14 starts, since being signed as an undrafted free agent in 2001. In his career, he has 74 receptions for 781 yards and 10 touchdowns, including a career-high five TDs last season. A wide receiver during a stellar college career at Arkansas, Williams has put on over 25 pounds as part of his conversion to tight end and has polished his blocking skills. His speed and size make him a difficult target to defend, particularly in the red zone.

The dude was kinda non existance in the passing game because former coordinator Mike McCarthy would rarely utilize him in the offense so he would be the forgotten weapon. But he also was kinda inconsistent too and he's not that good of a run blocker either.

I'd take Bubba Franks over Boo though :thumbup

Sounds like he may have been kind of a project. His bio says he played WR in college then put on 25 pounds and converted to TE.
