Cowboys | Bledsoe Lands Deal - from www.KFFL.com

ESPNews reports the Dallas Cowboys have signed free agent QB Drew Bledsoe (Bills). Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Now they have two past their prime statues to fight it out for the starting job. They should just let Henson take over.
Sucks for Cowboy fan.

Wow... they are just completely jacking that team up. I think Jerrah has lost a few cards outta his deck. Just hasn't been the same since Jimmy left the scene.

Drew can still throw well IF, and it's a pretty big IF, you protect him and he is younger than Vinny. I think they have grave concerns regarding Drew Henson. I don't see Bledso as such a downer for the cowpies.

The Cowboys are now a combination of the 96 pats, and the 98 Jets

They make a few moves in FA and the Draft, it's going to be very intresting, think this going to be a big comeback year, or Parcells is going to say screw it.

Vinny could sling it pretty well also. You can't even call this a lateral move. It is in that he's nothing better than an equal to Vinny but because he's now on board, he'll be taking snaps away from Henson.

Just a really stupid move by Parcells. He's doing his damndest to prove he's in charge and is pulling it off...regardless of the consequences.

Philly will blitz the living daylights out of Bledsoe and it won't be pretty. I feel kinda sad for Bledsoe already and it's only the offseason :(

Makes you wonder how Belichick could've become successful at the art of "plug-and-play" if he was a Parcells apprentice for so long, given that Parcells uses the same 55 players every season.....

Oh well, makes Belichick infinitely the godlier, either that or Parcells has grown senile.

Ah phooey! He's better than Vinny but that's not saying much. I'm not sure what Bill is up too. I was hoping for the guy from Seattle but that's a moot point now.

Just curious. What's "godlier"?

Godlier=Holding the Colts to 3 with 2 backup corners, burning the Steeler defense for 41, you know, that kind of stuff.

Okey dokey. But yes he's a fantastic coach and is really making a statement with his Patriot teams.

I think its a smart move. You get a vet, who if he is better, put him at the helm, and if he is not, cut him. Win-Win. I personally would give Henson the ball. Get Henson one more toy to play with. And maybe beef up the line. Then go Defense.

1. Antrell Rolle, or any CB.
1. Shawne Merriman OLB
2. Chris Henry WR
3. G, OT

Well they cut Wiley who basically stole money last year. He was a big sign and had 2 or 3 sacks and was a major bust.

I dunno. I was never a fan of the teams Bledsoe played for but I know he use to throw a nice low ball and I guess he still does. I don't know what happened to make the Bills so much better last year because I don't follow them but I guess it wasn't Drew since they said see ya!

Bill Parcells has forgotten more football than I'll ever know but I can't figure him out at all. He just likes the players he's familiar with I guess.

Ever since Willis McGahee took over for Travis Henry, for some strange reason thats why the Bills started winning. I mean the only thing they did was rush 35-40 times a game, but Bledsoe was not asked to win the game for the Bills.

once again Jerry Jones has made it impossible for his head coach to do his job the big tuna did not want Bledsoe as i heard sat on espn but jones had to show who is boss and once again disgruntle his head coach,I believe Parcells has 2 yrs left on his contract.Don't look for him to go past the 05-06 season, sure glad we don't have an owner like jones.

I think you may have that backwards..Bledsoe IS a Parcells guy and if he didn't want him they wouldn't sign him. I think if anything this is Parcells call and not Jerry's.

Actually, Jerry wants Henson to start. When Jerry Jones starts making more sense than you do...it's time for you to get out of the game.

Here's an excellent article on Parcell's choice of QBs.

Yup. They are rapidly becoming the retirement site for former Jets & Pats
players. There is no doubt that Parsells is continuing to have his way with
personnel decisons, which surprises me since Jones got his new stadium with the deal in the Ft.Worth suburb of Arlington and no longer has to pacify his
fans for team performance, atleast over the short term.

Bledsoe did fine the second half of this season with a solid rushing game (McGahee). I think Julius Jones will take the load and Bledsoe will have a solid year. If I were a Cowboy's fan, I would be concerned about the speed at the WR position. Parcells has done his damdest to bring in the slowest WR's he could find.

I think they get a DE and CB with their two 1st rounders. They should be back in the hunt again this year. My favorite Cowboys teams are the ones that are 8-8 or 9-7 and either just miss the playoffs or get crushed in the 1st round. There is nothing worse than having high hopes but getting them crushed like that.

I do have fond memories of the Cowboys in 1989 though. I don't know how many times the CBS crew said, "This is the best 1 and (insert current number of loses during the season) team I have ever seen" as they proceeded to lose by double-digits.

Oh and another thing, what has Drew Henson ever done to earn a shot at QB in the NFL?

The guy is a 6th round pick that has been out of football for years, played 8 games on a Stacked Michigan team.

Texans are lucky the Cowboys were stupid enough to trade a decent draft pick for a NOBODY.

I'm a Michigan fan for cripes sake, when I hear about Drew Henson my reaction is....so what? He is a longshot project that isn't ready to take over any team in the league. The Cowboys don't have to start him, so why do it? It makes no sense, and is only going to take the boys a step back . Vinny would be better than Drew at 48. Bledsoe is certainly better. Quincy freaking Carter, BETTER.

Henson should be playing in NFL Europe .....

Bledsoe's first 8 games - 9 TDs, 7 INTs
Bledsoe's last 8 games - 11 TDs, 9 INTs

Little better...little worse.

I don't neccessarily agree they need more speed at WR...they just need younger/better talent. With Randall and Crayton, we've got speed.

They haven't announced it publicly but we will switch to the 3-4 next year. So that leaves us without a NT (Glover and Ellis will both play DE). But NT's can be found in the later rounds. Just need a big body to fill the spot.

I don't think they take a CB in the first round. I think they take a DE/OLB like Merriman with their first pick and then BAP at #20. If it's a CB (like Carlos Rogers), I'd be all for it. But I think with $20 million or so in cap space, I think they'll look to free agency to fill the spot opposite Newman.

Roy Williams is moving to SS next year (hallelujah!!) so they'll have to find somebody to play FS (easiest position in the secondary to fill). I'd like to see them trade the pick at #11 and pick up a 3rd to replace the pick we lost for Henson.

What did Tom Brady do to earn a shot at QB in the NFL?

I agree he should be getting reps but I don't think it should be in Europe. Throw him in the fire now. Playing in Europe doesn't mean squat. Just prolongs the inevitable if you can't handle this league. And the only way they're going to find that out is to play him to see if the game slows down for him. One way or another, you'll find out a helluva lot quicker where you're headed if you're looking for a QB. If he stinks, look to the draft. If he sticks, then he's your guy.

I was simply stating what i heard on espn saturday,it would be a plus for dallas if Jerry Jones would finaly listen to his Head coach, wish i would of read the article before i posted. My bad.
Now thats something Jerry Jones would never do.Admit when he screwed up.

Jerry is a control freak I agree but I've heard him say in TV interviews that he regrets letting Jimmy go...he said they both let their egos get in the way and he was wrong for letting it happen. And Jimmy who is equally a control freak agreed with him.

Personally, I don't understand anything Parcell's is doing at this point.. yet, I didn't watch Bledsoe last season to see what was wrong. To me.. The cowboys are rebuilding and they should find out now whether Henson is going to cut it.

As far as drafting goes.. Cowboys need a WR..badly.. IMO. I"d like for them to take one in the top 10 and leave a defensive player alone :heh:
