Blake's March Mock

Blake

MMQB
1.) Nick Perry, DE, Southern California (6'3" 271)
Elite pass rushing prospect. Lighting fast and gets better as the game goes on. Will play a crucial role to our OLB rotation.

2.) Keenan Robinson, LB, Texas (6'3" 242)
This may freak some people out, but I am going to plug Keenan in at DeMeco's spot. Robinson's frame will be able to handle another 5-7 pounds with no problem. A great athlete I do not limit him to a finess role on the outside.

3.) Mitchell Schwartz, OL, California (6'5" 318)
Started 51 games for the Golden Bears all over the line.Very versitile. Will work onto our team on the right side of the line.

4.) Greg Childs, WR, Arkansas (6'3" 219)
Last year when I was watching Childs play I was blown away. Since his injury he has been working back to what he once was and has a chance to be something special.

4.) Bernard Pierce RB, Temple (6'0" 218)
Elusive one cut runner. As long as he can stay patient he will do well in our offense.

5.) David Molk, C, Michigan (6'1" 298)
David Molk won the Rimington Trophy as the top center after starting 4 years for Michigan. He set the bar at the combine for bench press and is a feisty mean dude. Quick and could be a great fit for a zone blocking team.

6.) Andrew Datko, RT, Florida State (6'6' 315)
Dropping like a rock due to injury concerns. Very athletic tackle and great character. Will be a steal if he can come back and help this team shore up the RT positon.

7.) Patrick Witt, QB, Yale (6'4" 225)
Smart QB with the tools to work with. Kubiak will be intrigued and want to see how far he can take Witt.

I hope you enjoy. Feedback is welcome.

Good stuff, I'd be ecstatic about this draft overall.

Couple things though...

I don't think Robinson fits into Wade's defense. Seems like strictly a 4-3 OLB. I'd prefer a guy like Brandon Thompson here.

Absolutely love the Perry, Schwartz, and Pierce picks. Like Childs too although not as much as the other 3.

Love David Molk, guy will be a beast in a ZBS at the next level. That said, he won't fall to the 5th round.

Do not like Datko at all. Don't think he has NFL level talent.

Witt is a good pick late, good developmental guy like Yates.

I figured most wouldnt see him inside Wade's 3-4, but I think he could do it. And I wanted to try and get Molk in the 4th, but couldnt squeeze out Childs or Pierce. Could do without Molk if I had to ,but what is a Blake Mock without a Michigan player? Hemmingway UDFA!

Agreed, overall I'd be happy with this draft. Fills a lot of spots. Childs could be a late round steal if he does round back to form.

Do you think Molk could be moved to guard? If not, I like having a guy that could be at least groomed for Myers in a few years.

I am of the mindset that any center that fits our scheme should be able to slide over to guard if needed. Confined spaces, combo blocking, diving at knees... you know, TEXANS FOOTBALL!

Dusting off my mock from 4 weeks ago. Can safely say I am still all over the majority of these guys with the exception of Witt. Apparently he has had some off the field issues. Due to Rackers not re-signing I am going to throw Randy Bullock, K, Texas A&M in the 7th round. I am also removing RB Pollard, shifting up and throwing in Austin Davis at QB in the 6th.

High completion rate every year, as well as a good TD to INT ratio.

7.) Randy Bullock, K, Texas aTm (5'9" 206)
No Rackers means we will need a couple of legs to come in and compete for the starting kicker position. Accurate but needs more leg strength.
