Blake
MMQB
This is my 2nd mock. I am projecting a free agent QB signing such as McCown, Vick or Freeman or whoever. Partly what I think the Texans would do, and partly what I think fill needs. Trading down would be ideal, but I am going to stay away from trade ideas.
1.) Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina
If the QBs are off the board then the pick is almost assuredly Clowney. A step towards taking blocking attention away from Watt. A Watt/Clowney combo could be devastating as long as Clowney buys in, stays out of trouble and stays healthy. Being a Gamecock doesn't hurt his chances either.
2.) Tajh Boyd, QB, Clemson
We need a QB prospect. And we dip back into the Clemson pool for one. The Boyd-Hopkins connection is back on. 47 career starts. Boyd gets a year to learn and is handed the keys in 2015.
3.) Daniel McCullers, DT, Tennessee
I am still working with Crennel as DC with his 3-4 defense. There have been some concerns about his technique, pad level, but his size and strength are enough to get him drafted.
4.) Seantrel Henderson, OT, Miami (FL)
Another mountain of a man. High risk high reward is the book on this kid. Not a traditional Texans good guy pick, but I think its time to roll the dice and get some talent on the right side if Brennan Williams cant hold it down.
5.) Kapri Bibbs, RB, Colorado State
Going with Bibbs again until I see a better value at this point in the draft. He will fill the role of Ben Tate with Foster and Dennis Johnson returning. 3rd year Soph. and part of the 30 TD club.
6.) Glenn Carson, LB, Penn State
Ive seen others mock him to the Texans too. Makes sense. And PSU is linebacker U. Bill will know how to use him.
7.) Colt Lyerla, TE, Oregon
As someone else put it, he got into the booger-sugar. 7th Rounder. Wont take him any higher. We need a TE if Graham is not going to be resigned.
