Blake's Final Texans Mock Draft

My final Texans mock draft. This is what I think the Texans will do.

Trade: The Texans trade with the Ravens to aquire the #17 pick. Not popular around here, but the Texans get their QB of the future, and the Ravens get our 2nd, 3rd, and 2015 3rd.


1.01 Jadeveon Clowney, LB, South Carolina

No takers for a trade, so the Texans take the BPA. Clowney is the BPA and a pass rusher and you can never have too many pass rushers. I am putting him at more of a hybrid Joker position.

1.17 Blake Bortles, QB, Central Florida

A project QB that will require some grooming. Will not even see the field until late in the season or not at all.

4.101 Shayne Skov, ILB, Stanford

ILB is really thin right now. We need another hard nose thumper.

5.141 Brent Urban, DE Virginia

Help at the 5 technique that was decimated this offseason.

6.177 Anthony Steen, G, Alabama

Hopefully can compete for the left guard position. Gritty tough Bama football player.

6.181 Tyler Gaffney, RB, Stanford

Texans need a RB to replace Tate. They get a durable back who can handle the load. Helps us become a better power running team.

7.216 Colt Lyerla, TE, Oregon

Troubled, talented, Patriot.

7.256 Cornelius Lucas, OT, Kansas State

Developmental swing tackle. Has the frame, just needs to bulk up.

Didn't see this one coming, making it really difficult to correctly predict a trading partner. I'm sure this is Texian approved or will be shortly move to aquire O'Brian's franchise guy. Would like trading down out of #1 adding picks instead of trading them away then taking Bortles but you do add Clowney

Never thought of this and will have to ponder a bit. Like some of your guys like Gaffney but can't see Bortles falling that far.

Blake, Bortles will never last until #17. I'm not sure he'll last to #2. Of course, could be wrong but you know exactly what I mean...

Even if the Texans pass, no way he gets out of the top 10. I also have a higher opinion that you do, but then again we've discussed what that is worth.

The Ravens are short on tradeable picks. They might wish to get more ammo to move around as they wish.
