He stepped in pretty well for the Saints last year when McAllister went down. He is only 32, and keeps himself in excellent shape. And what the heck IS plantar fasciitis?
A. Smith got in the doghouse in NE because he kept failing the conditioning tests and reported to camp fat every year.NoBullTexan said:Yeah, I feel the same way. We will be ok with our RBs. Grid said:eh.. I dont think our staff is worried about going into the season without a "set" running back. I cant remember how many times the Broncos have started the season with no one and had a budding star by the end of the year.

Almost made me regret getting Mario, who I am excited about.
Wow- he (RB) was a stud
The Pencil Neck said:Plantar Fascitis is like an ice-pick in your foot. It starts off as wear on the connective tissue in the arch and frequently ends up with bone spurs in the ankle area.
[EDIT: I originally said "muscles" instead of "connective tissue" which is worng.]
Have you heard anything that would lead you to believe that Morency had this condition prior to being drafted by the Texans? Is plantar fasciitis caused by a single event? Or is it the result of long-term wear? Maybe footwear related?CloakNNNdagger said:...the problem very commonly progresses to debilitation, especially in a football player where pressure and stretching trauma and thus reinjury cannot usually be avoided..........and that's why I'm concerned about Morency.
You are right. Sorry about that.U4ikrob said:[cough cough] that was Arkansas - not Bama. Otherwise you might have seen a much different game with USC going up against Bama's #1 overall Defense from last year.
Personally I'm looking forward to Mario, D-Wreck and the Texans D hopefully taking Mr. Bush down a few notches this year.

Still, pretty impresive. But, I will say that indeed he did not get touched until he got about 5-10 yards past LOS.
TexansJunkE said:Why are some hitting the panic switch in mid July? We will do just fine this year in the rushing dept, quote me on that! In the system that the Texans plan on running Olandis Gary rushed for 1000+ yards. I think we have very capable backs to do a stand up job, not great but respectable.

CloakNNNdagger said:Sorta close.......The heel bone spur is seen under the heel bone and seems to be seen more commonly in patients who have plantar fasciitis, but is not caused by the fasciitis. About 70% of patients who have plantar fasciitis are seen on x-ray to have a heel spur.
However, heel spurs are also seen in patients without plantar fasciitis; about 50% of middle aged adults have at least a small heel spur seen on the x-ray of their foot. Furthermore, the heel spur is actually located in a place different from the fibrous tissue that is inflamed in plantar fasciitis. The heel spur is not located at the insertion of the plantar fascia, as was once thought. The spur is not caused by the fasciitis and usually has very little clinical implications..................but the plantar fasciitis is a severe inflammation of the gristle covering of the bottom of the foot, many times caused by micro or gross tearing of that structure........and your description of the "ice pick in the foot" is one of the best descriptions I've ever read! Whether treated with orthotics, steroid injections (talk about painful in that particular area) or, as last resort, surgery, the problem very commonly progresses to debilitation, especially in a football player where pressure and stretching trauma and thus reinjury cannot usually be avoided..........and that's why I'm concerned about Morency.
Señor Stan said:I battled plantar fasciitis for about three years. I would get cortizone shots in my heels about once every 3 months. They worked at first, but they got gradually less effective. The shots were the one of the most painful things I have ever experienced.
There is a non invasive surgical procedure using a device called an OssaTron.
http://www.ossatron.com/
It uses ultra sonic waves to break up scar tissue and restore blood flow. I had the procedure done about 3 years ago and have not experienced any heel pain since.
Morency needs to look into getting this. That and some cleats.
trane said:It may not be time to hit the panic switch but it is reason to be concerned. Your best back is hurt. Then you have a past his prime veteran and an inexperienced second year player as backups. Plus, a fifth round pick you know nothing about. Factor in, the O-line is still learning the scheme and is not effective enough to just plug in just any RB and hope he will be successful.
Koolbrz said:Oh wait...Maybe we can hand the ball of to Mario Williams, he is a freak and if he is supposed to be better than Peppers, he should be able to run the ball. Considering that Peppers is lining up at wide reciever on some short yardage plays near the end zone...Just a thought.
