BADBOY's 2023 offseason

Vtech

I wouldn't necessarily go this way in the draft, but the chance to draft my #1 WR/TE/C is too much for me to pass up. I really like Sanders as a LB to pair with Harris and a RB like Spears that could be a really good 3rd down guy with elite speed and vision is just too much to pass up.

I get that you want a run stopper and Givens in FA can help fill that bill. But this isn't optimal. Still when you get the chance to add elite talent you do it. What would you think if Mazi Smith was added in place of Sanders?
I'd go with Mazi. If you take Hyatt at 1.12, I'd want to get Rashee Rice with the 2nd pick. You are trading cooks, so you still need a #1. Hyatt would be great in the slot, but without that big guy on the outside to draw coverage, he might draw all of the focus, and get shut down. If Nico had proven himself to be a #1, I wouldn't worry about it, but Nico hasn't been able to stay on the field. None of our other WR's scare anyone, so we really need some guys that do.

I see we're still penny pinching, even though there's plenty of cap space available for the foreseeable future. Yeah, lets trade an all pro level LT to a division rival after that rival has found their franchise QB. Brilliant
Go back and read why I posted a trade possibility.
I do not support it but some do and i post ways to accomplish that. You have agreed with posts of mine saying I would not trade Tunsil. I also posted an Extension that not only keeps him but lowers his cap pit by 11 million dollars. I think often you just focus on every 3rd word I say and form your own opinion without Reading my post.

Tuipulotu in round 2 can play all d line. Rasheem not what i hoped for but neither was Kenyon. I am still hopeful a o line coach will see Deculus as an OG. Cann if healthy should get better and start another year or two. Get replacement then if not already on team as in Skoronski.
I wouldn't mind getting Tuli later, and have him play DE, but for DT, I want Carter or Mazi Smith. Tuli might be a good backup for Maliek Collins, but I also like Calijah Kancey as a future replacement for Maliek.

I like rice and Hyatt on outside with metchie in the slot. Your thoughts?

Hyatt and Musgrave to go with Collins and Rodgers would spread out the defense and give Pierce room to roam. Gotta find a center though. Sign Bradbury in FA.

In 4-3, I don't think you have to have the 330 lb +
DT to shut down the run. JJ Watt was good at that basically same size as Tuli.

is $12 m APY too much for only 1 good year? I think not. Would allow us to go another way in draft or a more guard who could play center as back up.

He's an ascending player, who's improved his play strength. Put him in the middle of the OL and watch them go. they need a young healthy vet to lead the OL. He plays in a ZBS scheme, so that's a bonus. I'm not sure 12 mil per yr is right. I would offer 3 yrs 30 mil with 20 mil guaranteed.

Jalen Carter isn't that big. He's only 300 Lbs. Mazi Smith is a bigger guy, but man, that kid is athletic. You should go watch some video of him.

That sounds dangerous. I like bigger guys on the outside though, but man, that would scare some teams.
yep and Rice same height as AJ and 4.4 forty to AJ's 4.37. Deandre Hopkins 6'1" to Hyatts's 6'0. Forty 4.57 to Jalin Hyatt's 4.43. Add Metchie and not sure we have ever had such potential.

I agree and that contract could work and allow him to come back in 3 for extension as with Tunsil. If Green advances as most second season guys, we could have a great o line.

I am good with Mazi just think we can get same plus better stats with other players.

I'm looking for a veteran leader to make the OL calls. Somewhere around 4-103 I'm drafting a C/OG like Stromberg, because I dont want to see McCray again if an IOL gets hurt and provides competition for Cann.

I was not as high on Stromburg as you and Optimistic were and he seemed to not do as well as season progressed. What about OC Steve Avila from TCU in round 4? As a back up to Garrett and possible future RG?

I like Avila more than Stromberg. But you're going to have to spend a top 100 pick on Avila most likely if you really want him.

I think you're gonna have to spend a top 50 pick on Avila. His stock has been rising. He's being looked at as one of the top OG's.

I estimate cap savings after cuts and trading Cooks ~$60 million.

1. Daron Payne DL 6'3 320 May 27, 1997

57 tackles; 12 sacks

2. Ethan Pocic highest rated OC PFF 6'6" 310 August 5, 1995
3. Edge Ogbonnia Okoronkwu 6'2" 253 April 24, 1995 37 tackles; 5 sacks 1 FF

4. OC/OG Garrett Bradbury 6'3" 300 30 years old. PFF 70.2

No trades up or down only Cooks for 2nd and a 4th.

1.2 Young
1.12 Bijan
2.33 Rashee Rice
2.59 Hyatt may be gone
3.66 DL Tuipolotu
3.75 Zach Charbonnet
4.104 JL Skinner
4. N T Keanu Benton might be there round 5.

Trade ups begin for whatever we can get 5 thru 7 or go BPA.

I have concerns on Bradbury at OC as he had some difficulty with bull rushes. Ethan Pocic can fill the need and RG also.

Move Green to RG to reduce some stress, Draft Skoronski for LG and Pocic for center.

I worry about Pocic's past injury issues.

I do not use draft simulators and not saying any or all of these trades would happen:

Texans trade 1.2 to Indy for 4 and 35.
Texans trade 1.4 to Detroit for 6 and 18 plus Jared Goff
Texans trade 1.6 to Seattle for 20 and 37 and 52
Texans trade 1.12 to Pittsburgh for 17 and 32

1.17 1.18 1.20 1.32 2.33 (theirs) 2.35 2.37 2.52

*reflects Miami not having a round one.

Why stop trading then? You could have the entire 2nd day of the draft if you keep going.

I've said that i like many guys in round two. Trading out wouldn’t accomplish that. I would not be opposed to using two thirds in combo with day three picks to move up for certain players.

Three late round 1s can get me starters with 4-5
solid options available that might not slide to day two. Most conversations are only about round one and 6 to 8 players. This thread is to bring attention to other players that many haven't heard of.
Even this close to draft, who is talking about Tuipulotu edge with 13.5 sacks in 2022 or Foskey with 11 sacks each of last two season? Who talked about Rashee Rice who might play like Nuk?

This is what I'm talking about plus his stats make him very enticing.
I’ve been seeing his name a lot. His speed paired with Pierce would be amazing

hmm.. I see Maliek Collins as a tackle only while Tuli is primarily an edge who has and can play inside some. IMO, he should be moved round depending on play causing havoc.

SCOUTING REPORT: STRENGTHS
  • Super versatile prospect who has played all over the defense - all the way from 1 technique to the wide nine.
  • Tuipulotu can also win going speed-to-power, with the leg drive to push blockers back.
  • Massively productive in 2022 where he took a major step up - leading the PAC 12 in sacks and also logging 22 TFLs
  • Shows a natural feel for setting up blockers and getting them off-balance. His hands are active and violent, and Tuipulotu quickly disengages with blockers and counters when his initial move stalls.
  • Really quick first step - with elite acceleration as well as lateral movement skills to mirror running quaterbacks
  • While he was primarily used as a pass rusher has skills dropping into coverage - can handle going one on one against tight ends
  • His spin move is already NFL-caliber, and he displays a very good motor
  • Powerful run defender - knifes through the offensive line blowing up sweeps
  • While he's played most of his snaps on the edge - he is most effective on the inside where his high football IQ and accompanying quick processing shows through
  • Delivers a strong punch and uses his hands to shed blocks to make plays in the hole or outside the box. Uses lower-body strength to anchor inside.
  • Combines strength and footwork to fill holes inside, as well. Recovers from cut blocks or falling on his way to make a tackle.
  • His core flexibility and balance are excellent, and he has prototypical length.

What ever happened to players I thought well of beginning of college season:

CB Eli Ricks man I was ecstatic about this guy but when he transferred to Alabama from LSU, he couldn't seem to pick up the system despite Saban covering for him.

LB Noah Sewell at least he can probably get a job selling cars with his last name.

WR Kayshon Bouttee I kept thinking "transfer portal" but he remained @ LSU & didn't develop.

OT Tyler Steen just never did it for me and he dropped all season.

LB Henry T'oo T'oo add another T and I will sing don't mess with toot toot.

Edge Andre Carter I kept peeking thru my fingers hoping this guy was real deal..

DL Gervon Dexter I was cautious but hoping he could step up but he didn't.

DT/Nose Siaki Ika man another guy I fell in love with but sigh slid into mediocrity.

OC Ricky Stromberg I never saw what other did but looks like I was correct.
