BADBOY'S 2012 mock

badboy

Hall of Fame
Just for fun as I at least, have little better to do. Only posting 5 rounds.

1. #20. WR Jeff Fuller A&M 6'4" 215 4.42 2nd choice Courtney Upshaw Alabama ILB/OLB 6'2"265

2. CB Coryell Judie Texas A&M 5'11" 188 4.42 (has run 4.32). This a "lock down corner" that may end up in 1st round. Reminds me of Brandon Harris.

3. NT Alameda Ta'Amu Washington 6'3" 330 5.29. Yeah Wade I hear you but everyone kept telling me a lighter RB was just as good as a big boy. I point to Arian Foster. Enough said.

4. SS/FS Winston Guy Kentucky 6'1" 210 4.46 (has run a 4.39) & can play corner.

5. ** WR Dyrell Roberts Virginia Tech 6'1" 185 4.45 (4.39 low) Problem is he missed some of last season with thigh injury (compartment syndrome) & should be back for TC. I really like this kid. Very helpful info in two links.

I'll have to watch for these guys once the season starts at least we will have that to watch if not the NFL.

I normally love your work man, but I just cant get behind this draft.

Fuller is a solid pick here. We have solid 3rd/4th/5th receiver depth, but no true number 2. Fuller would solve that problem.

Curyell never impressed me, and to be perfectly honest, I am done with drafting corners. We have a plethora of young players at the position, and it is looking like a legit starting corner will be signed was free agency commences. Unless there is a highly rated guy that falls, I am staying away from the position.

Ta'amu- love the pick, but he wont be there. I think he has a very good chance at going at the tail end of round 1.

I like your 4th rounder

But your 5th is another receiver. I like the player well enough, but I'll pass.

Bearing in mind that this is extremely early for a mock draft, here is the players/positions I would like to see the Texans address (looking only at seniors):

1) Iowa State OG Kelechi Osemele
2) Oklahoma WR Ryan Broyles
3) Arkansas ILB Jerry Franklin
4) Kentucky FS Winston Guy
5) Northwestern OT Al Netter
6) Michigan NT Mike Martin
7) Oklahoma FS Sam Proctor

Appreciate your comments. Fuller was my pick so we agree on him and 4th. I offer an option as Fuller prob will be gone. 65, we have to resolve CB & my mocks are based on what we know unless stated otherwise. We do not know we will get a vet CB. Of course there is a whole lot of whispers that Wade indicated this and AJ tweeted that. Not directed at you but I find it amusing that I was only one on MB advocating we had team and money to entice Asomugha and now many on board & from what I hear on radio some talk boys think now it can happen. We have one starting corner in Jason Allen & have yet to hear anyone singing his praises. I understand your frustration and not wanting to draft CB. We had a roster full when we selected KJ. We then traded back into 2nd to get my guy Harris and then drafted Roc Carmichael. I doubt anyone will be stunned if we go CB again, if we do not get ASO. Also, seems we keep drafting Dlinemen every year.

I chose a WR in 5th as I doubt Fuller will be ours & we need another WR unless JJ back. I do like Ta'Amu but I can find no one as of my last research that has him as high as second round.

As always my opinions of players will adjust as season progresses. I will address your mock in following post. Again thanks for input.

No way do I see SMith taking an OG in first round. I think our Oline did pretty well and while I am ok with a player upgrade, not in first.

I absolutely do not think Broyles or Franklin will be available when we draft in 2nd and 3rd. I had considered both then went with Upshaw as imo we have to have an back up for Ryans, even if he returns 100% this season. If we could get #2,3 & 4 for certain and the strong safety you were supporting in another thread in first round, I'd be happy.

As of right now I'll be watching more NCAA football this year than I typically do.

Agreed Gary and think many of us will. But to be honest, if there is not an NFL season, I doubt I will watch football of any type next year. NFL better pull collective head out of their....

I am not sold on Fuller being gone at the Texans spot though. Looking at who is draft eligible, it appears to be a very strong receiver class.

I see what you are saying with CB, but still. This was what, the 3rd straight year of drafting 2 corners in the draft? That needs to stop eventually. Good call with Aso.

Ta'amu will be a riser throughout the season. We all no how most teams love that big, agile NT. He wont garner top 10-15 hype, but he should be talked about as a solid late 1st rounder.

OG could stand to be upgraded. I dont think it is a huge weakness, but it is an important position that I would like to have locked down for the next 10 years. I have Osemele graded out just as highly as I did Iupati a couple years ago.

As I mentioned earlier, I think WR is stacked in next years draft (I will be posting my top 10 + small school sleeper later today), causing people to drop. Broyles is a great receiver, but I doubt he ever becomes a number 1 in the NFL. He is only 5'11" 190, and does not have elite speed.

Franklin runs into the same problem- ILB is a stacked position, especially if the Junior declare. Not a lot of ILBs get drafted high, so I think a couple drop, Franklin being one of them.

If Fuller is ther in first (liked I hoped Julio Jones was) I have to lock him up. Yes, we have a good WR corps but no one stands out as #2. I've puzzled what happened to Walter as it seems Schaub just does not go to him any more. He does make good catches and does not drop it. If JJ is back, I see same set up as last season and unless one of the WR steps up, I want Fuller.

I have not watched Osemele but he is supposed to be good and I like Iupati. I too want to upgrade Oline but just not until defense is strong.

College season has started and one of my "GUY's" did well with INT last night.
http://www.chron.com/sports/article/Kentucky-beats-Western-Kentucky-14-3-2152146.php Winston Guy had an interception that set up Clemons' TD run on a night when the Wildcats struggled with at least six three-and-outs on offense. They struggled to beat a team they routed 63-28 last season with backups getting plenty of playing time.

I still like my lineup but prob gonna move Ta'Amu up as season progresses. I am considering the following and please offer your thoughts.

Fuller, Ta'amu, Judie (switching spots because he will drop due to college conference crap), ILB Tanner Brock TCU 6'3" 250 4.68 106 T, 2 sacks, 1INT and Winston Guy SS/FS droppimg to 5th

I agree with moving Ta'amu up to the 2nd round, he might even go early 2nd. I like the Tanner Brock pick as well, I had him on a recent mock I've been working on, actually trying to decide between Brock and Kevin Reddick-ILB from UNC. I don't know anything about Judie, so with that exception it's a very good mock though I'm still not sold on the need for a WR in the 1st round. We've still got holes on D to fill. Guy in the 5th would be a good choice.

I updated mine as well, let me know what you think.
