Aussie Mock 1.0

For this mock I'm assuming we're a picking around the mid 20s

Round 1: Michael Floyd, WR Notre Dame
His got top 10 talent but due to a couple of off-field issues he falls.
Also doesn't have great physical athleticism so won't light up the combine.
Again another reason why he falls to us.

We can't possibly pass on this guy. We all know now how much we need a 2nd WR. Our red zone efficiency isn't great and he offers a huge body in there.
Great underneath as well so he can move the chains.

My favourite player in the draft guy is a beast and will end up being our number 1 once AJ retires.

Round 2: Josh Chapman, NT Alabama.
Does exactly want you want in a Nose. Great against the run and can take up a double team.
His an absolute beast in the weight room benching close to 580 pounds, according to the Alabama strength and conditioning staff and has a 630 pound squat. Has a good motor as well, so look for wade to stand up for this guy in the war room. Not quite best player available but is still a great pick and fills a need.

Round 3: Barrett Jones, OG Alabama
Great versatility, has played everywhere on the o-line for 'Bama. Possess good agility so should fit in well with our ZBS. Has been one of the leaders on a Bama offence that has seen great numbers in the ground game while his been there.
Needs to work on his pass-protection, but with our offence run-blocking comes first and his near godly at it. Will start straight away.

Round 4: Kendall Reyes, DE Connecticut.
This guy is a monster! coming in at 300 pounds will fit perfectly into the rotation on the D-line. Will play predominately at DE but if needed can play at NT as well. Has a good motor and never quits even in pursuit.
His been voted captain last 2 years and seems to have excellent leadership.

Round 5: D.J. Holt, ILB California
Originally wanted to go with Tanner Brock from TCU with this pick but his been sidelined for the year with a knee injury i think. So i went with a player at the same position who is of near equal value.

Tackle machine, should fit into wade's system and MLB perfectly. Give us depth at ILB which is needed because we only have 3 MLB at the moment seen as tim dobbins hasn't done a whole lot and is ageing.
Main strength is against the run which again fits nicely into our system.

Round 6: Blake Gideon, FS Texas.
Most of you guys should know him seen as he plays for the longhorns.
But from what i have seen (limited only get a few college games down under) and read he will not blow anybody away with his physical skills but has good instincts. Can play a little in the box as well so has that all-round ability that Wade wants.

Round 7:
Traded for Mason!

Thanks for reading, would love some comments especially from the regular mock posters.

Go texans!

Floyd is talented as hell so I can't say I would hate the pick if we made it. I just think he is a douche bag.

I'm on board with your picks in rounds 2 and 3 as well.

I know who Reyes is but can't honestly say that I've watched him. I'd have to differ to someone else on that one.

I love D.J. Holt. He is a stud and would be a wonderful pick. Nice!

Gideon? Meh. He could be a solid special teamer in the pros but he will never see the field as a safety. He is a liability. But how many times are you gonna hit a home run in the 6th round? Nice mock.

I've tried to Mock Floyd to Texans but is still highly rated & for another when has Smith used a high pick on someone with character flaws....

I'm turned off by Alabama players for some reason.....

Like Uconn program, very few players however with NFL measureables, this guy must be a freak.....

There is a lot of depth in this years draft @ ILB. Several I'm looking at, TJ Holt seems like good value here.....

No more late round safteys, CB, WR, RB, FB, C, DE, OLB maybe?

Love the player but not when you select. Floyd is top 20 if not higher and as we know McNair will not accept his offfield issues. I think he had 3 drinking related issus not a couple. Chapman is based on Phillips comments about he can be successful with smaller NT as if he had a choice. He has also said he has succeeded with bigger NTs so why not go big? Also, Chapman is 2nd round but not there when we pick imo. I like Barrett Jones and he may be there in 3rd. Enjoyed the read.

Yeah i may have been hoping chapman lasts this long, but i do feel that floyd will drop a lot.

1. Floyd, I think he'll be a good NFL player but never great, I don't think he has what it takes to ever be a #1 WR. He's a very good player but not what I would have picked, I still think we need more defense early.
2. Chapman, I think he'll be a very good NFL player as well and is a very good pick but I think getting him in the late 2nd round is wishful thinking. Good NT's are hard to come by. I know he's listed as a 2nd round pick for now but I think he'll rise up the charts and could possibly be our pick in the 1st round.
3. Jones, I really like this pick and have considered him in my mocks. If we can get him in the 3rd round it would be great value. I think he goes earlier than this.
4&5. Reyes and Holt, I don't know anything about these guys but I like the positions chosen. We definetly need depth at DE and ILB.
6. Gideon, I don't know alot about Gideon but he'd be pretty good value in the 6th round if still available.

Overall good mock draft, although I'd have chosen some different players you chose good ones and good positions. I think we'd have to get really lucky to get Chapman and Jones in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

Go texans!

Floyd- Love the pick, hope he falls to the Texans. I would take Floyd and sign Meachem in FA. Then you would get a chance to see how really good Schaub is and it would take a load off AJ's shoulders.

Chapman- Love the pick and hope he's there. Trading up to get him should also be an option.

Jones- Good pick

Reyes- love this pick, hope he's there.

Holt- Good depth/ST guy

Gideon- want no part of him and I'm a UT fan.

Great Job

1) Would be real nice if Floyd fell to us. I am not sure if he does but if he does I say we take him. I dont know if Bob will take him given his history but he would be an instant upgrade at WR #2 and could be a WR #1 after Andre is gone.

2)Chapman is another good pick here. If Wade thinks he can utilize Chapman and make him be a very solid NT then I say take him. I dont know if he makes it her and if he doesnt I wouldnt be against trading up to get him like we did with Harris.

3)I like the position he is a very solid OG and could be a big gain for this OL. Solid Pick.

4 and 5) Dont Know too much about them but i wouldnt mind addressing those positions.

6) From what the Texas games I have seen I have not been impressed by Gideon. Dont mind the position as we dont have a backup FS but would rather go another direction

Blake Gideon is a liability. Average in coverage, and the worst safety in run support. Always take terrible angles, doesn't wrap up right, always get flagged for "targetting", etc.

Do Not Want.

The rest are fine, but IDK about Michael, I know he's good but I'd rather have a different WR. Depends where we are picking at really..
