Astroworld Parking Lot is perfect for tickless tailgating...

Here is a perfect business opportunity for the owners of the Astroworld dirt. If that many ticketless folks want to show and "tailgate" for a Texans game, they are welcome to do exactly that in the Astroworld Lot.

1. The Texans don't have any control over what goes on there.
2. It's HUGE.
3. It's damn close to the real thing.

Can you imagine 100k peeps partying right across 610 from Reliant?

Already happening. Parking will be $20.

They had it on the news when the Texans announced the new policy.

That property is owned by the interests of the Texans, It is a great place for non ticket holders as it is grass, it is big, only thing is they need to open the bridge unless it is for non ticket holders only

Actually, it's owned by an investment firm in - hold on to your funny hat - the DALLAS area.

Yep, I heard that the gate on the bridge was locked for the cowgurls game because they didn't want to share proceeds with the Texans.

They will need border security guards over there making sure the ticketless people don't cross the line and come into the parking lots illegally.

They would still have to enter the Reliant lots through valid entry points. Maybe slap a gaurd on the bridge to tell people not to climb the fence.

Or not to pass babies over it. lol

I haven't gone to a game in years, but I would love to see a reasonably priced parking lot only area. I remember back in the Oilers days, the parking was somewhere between $5-$7 (don't remember exactly). You paid in cash and there was ample parking. Reliant does not seem to have any reasonable priced parking only lots. All the parking lots seem geared towards tailgaiting. I remember the last time I went to a game there were people walking way down the street to find parking. Some people were parking at grocery stores just to find some decent parking.

If Reliant had a cash lot for parking, they could make a tremendous amount of cash. It astounds me that there is not adequate reasonably priced parking available.

Reliant offers reasonable parking in the Yellow, Orange, Purple, and Maroon lots. Parking starts at $18. Thats not bad if you have 4-5 people, comes out to $4 - $5 per person.

But if you are by yourself or have one person with you, that's still pretty high. I was envisioning $10 a car kind of parking.

Plus don't you have to buy a parking pass to park in the yellow, orange, purple, and maroon lots? I would like to see the return of a $10 cash lot.

If the guy leasing the lot gives the Texans a cut, they will open the gate (that's what they did to us), but usually they want 40% or more.

They may be content to let people walk.

once someone gets hit by a car crossing 610 (i believe it is, not from Hou) it will be on the news that the texans locked a gate forcing tailgaters to cross a busy roadway.

PR department will open the gate LOL

There is no need to cross 610.

You might have better luck meeting the real Santa Clause in person! My Orange lot parking pass started at $15 in 2002, then went to $18 in about 2004, then went to $20 in 2007, it then went up to $23 in 2009. If people dont want to "pay to park".... they can do the light rail, $8 to park over there behind Sams and $1.00 per person each way I think. There will NEVER be $10 parking at Reliant Stadium although I think the Yellow and Maroon lot started at $10 in 2002.

Either way, it's still not a bad deal to pay $18 to park and be able to tailgate (assuming you have a game ticket).

I am just saying there should be a dedicated parking facility for people who do not want to tailgate. But I guess they are ok with people illegally parking elsewhere and would rather not cash in on the extra $.

From their point of view, why do that? They sell out all the space they have control of at much more than $10 a space. The other spaces around are under control of other intrests, such as the old astroworld site. They would be happy to work with those sites for mutual benefit.

I think he's saying have a lot where people who don't tailgate can park. Paying $18 -$45 to park and tailgate for 4 hours is one thing, but to pay $25 just to park and walk into the stadium is pretty ridiculous. I think he's saying have a....let's say...magenta lot or whatever color, where you do nothing but park, absolutely no tailgating, for considerably cheaper. That way non-tailgaters don't have to subject themselves to the horrors of those who do.

You can do that at the Astroworld lot or the Crowne Plaza hotel.
