Another wave of new members

I guess some of the new ones are really regular members with new identities using them to blow off steam.
Some are using new IDs because they are too cowardly to threaten to stop being Texans fans under their real names.
Some are actually new members ala all of the new posters that came along after the rose bowl.
One thing they all have in common, though.
They all apparently have more football knowlege than our front office and more than a few other draft experts who are pretty sure Mario will be an excellent pro football player.
I was one of the many who wanted Reggie. I have been more than a little shocked over the issue but see the football merit in it.
There is football merit to this pick.
All of you new posters step away from the Madden and realize that there are other positions on the football field besides running back.
Besides, won't it be nice to have realistic expectations of getting sacks when we are on D?

I'm not afraid to speak my mind and share my thoughts. I've been a season ticket holder since day 1. Well, it was a few days later, but I've been to each home game since the Dolphins preseason game in year 1. I've wanted Mario Williams for a long while now. Research my posts. I preferred Reggie over Vince, and I honestly thought the team was going to take the easy route and take Reggie.

This obviously wasn't the most popular decision, but to those "fans" that think Kubiak wasn't on board with this pick are kidding themselves. He would never had accepted the job without final say in who the #1 pick is. The Broncos for years have taken lower rated RBs and made them into 1,500 yard rushers. Davis has proven ability. Morency has ability. They may look at a RB later. Mario Williams was the smartest football move. Ferguson would have been a smart move as well, but I think Williams and Winston (if he is there at 33) is better than Ferguson and Kiwanuka or Hali.

In an ideal world the Texans would have traded down and grabbed Williams. I've said before that if the player they really want is there you take him at #1. If you trade down you risk losing him. Extra picks are nice, but losing the guy you want is hard to swallow. According to Casserly they did contact teams, but nobody wanted to move into that spot. Bush is the player that you'd trade up to get. If the Texans wanted him, you are going to have to give up too much to get the pick from them. If the Texans don't want him, you target the Saints. It's a cheaper pick.

What is so frustrating is that I don't have as much football knowledge as the Texan's front office, but I don't do it for a living. I DO, however, know that Mario Williams would still have been around at pick 4 or 5. THUS, the Texans got no VALUE for their pick. They could have got their guy plus another pick from someone. Hell even if they only got a 6th round pick from the Jets to move into number one...... it's better than what they got.

It very well could be the worst draft pick in NFL history. That I do know. (If you read any newspapers you will see that alot of people with "football knowlege" will agree tomorrow as well)

I DO KNOW Bob McNair and his lame duck GM had a chance to get one of the two most electric players to come out of college in a long time in Reggie Bush or in Vince Young and blew it. There are alot of fans in Texas (me included) that are waiting to identify with the team and become a fan. Bob McNair missed that opportunity. No matter how good Mario becomes (btw, there's already a "Super Mario", he wore 66 for the Penguins) he will never be the reason people fill the stands.

And as long as the franchise makes these decisions it will be a long time before they sell out a season. Right now, they sit below the Cardinals on the food chain.

And that's a loooooow rung.
