Our #33 pick is gonna be a prime spot to get great value on a 1st round quality player that slides.. and if we take Bush #1 overall, we may be more inclined to trade down from this spot to the middle of the second, and grab an extra third, so we can address some needs on the first day.
It actually wouldnt be too bad a move for us.. trading down to the mid second and grabbing a middle 3rd rounder.. we could end up with something like..
Reggie Bush (RB)
Greg Eslinger (C)
Daryn College (OT)
Ray Edwards (DE)
Will Blackmon/Cedric Griffin (CB)
Maybe not quite as flashy as trading down and then stocking up picks in the top of the second, but not a bad scenario for us if we do use the #1 pick.
Eslinger is a very good pick, maybe not as high as 33 though. Eslinger fits perfectly into Coach Kubiak's zone blocking scheme. If we do trade down and take Brick, (which by the way i think we should do) and snag and extra second round pick hypothetically. we could end up with something like this...
RD 1. D'Brickshaw Ferguson (OT) Virginia - he really does remind me of Walter Jones, can run block, can pass block. In my opinion if you're looking for the best pro prospect in this draft, here's your guy. No offense to Bush, Leinart, Young, Cutler, Hawk, or Williams. D'BRICK is the man.
RD 2. Bobby Carpenter (OLB) Ohio State - hopefully he slides down about 5 or 6 picks from where is he projected, he played with the best linebacking corps in the country and is exceptionally fast, can blitz off the corner...actually tracked down Vince Young in the meeting earlier this season from the Will LB position.
RD 2. Dominique Byrd (TE) USC - Overlooked and underutilized at USC, he can catch passes appx. 30 this season. He is a big target and is a solid run blocker. Put Byrd on the side with the RT for an extra man against the blitz or send him out on a mismatch against a safety or linebacker. I think he's just one step behind Lewis as a pass receiver, and he's above Lewis as a run blocker IMO.
RD 3. Greg Eslinger (C) Minnesota - Very quick OL, can move very well and is exceptional at pulling in front of a running back namely Moroney at Minnesota. His pass blocking may need a little work, but its an improvement even as a rookie.
RD 4. Daniel Bullocks (S) Nebraska - I would doubt it if Bullocks drops this far in the draft, Bullocks is a tough safety who can come up and make a tackle. but if he doesn't should Kubiak take a chance on Michael Robinson at Safety and maybe at the vacancy at Punt Returner, and possibly as a wide reciever?? in the fourth round he could be a steal.
