Another pick that is likely to be worth alot

Grid

All Pro
Our #33 pick is gonna be a prime spot to get great value on a 1st round quality player that slides.. and if we take Bush #1 overall, we may be more inclined to trade down from this spot to the middle of the second, and grab an extra third, so we can address some needs on the first day.

It actually wouldnt be too bad a move for us.. trading down to the mid second and grabbing a middle 3rd rounder.. we could end up with something like..

Reggie Bush (RB)
Greg Eslinger (C)
Daryn College (OT)
Ray Edwards (DE)
Will Blackmon/Cedric Griffin (CB)

Maybe not quite as flashy as trading down and then stocking up picks in the top of the second, but not a bad scenario for us if we do use the #1 pick.

Not bad Grid. However, I would use a three on a TE.

There are supposed to be 40-50 1st round quality guys this year, so I don't know why we'd trade down from #33. At 33, we can likely find a guy that would ordinarily be a mid-1st round pick that happened to slip down, and I don't know why we'd trade out of that opportunity, I think there will be a couple great guys available at #33 that would definitely be worth taking there rather than moving down again, and I'm hoping you're not saying to take Eslinger in the 2nd because he'll be around in the 3rd, if you want an interior OLineman at #33, look for Nick Mangold.

Is that guy a nasty center or what ? I was hopeing Scott would fall to thirty two, but there is no way. I'm looking at those two big gaurds, RG, Jean giles and futui. If we draft Bush : Pitts/Mc/Hodgsen/Jean-Giles or Futui/Wade. I like this better,
Brick /Pitts/Hodgeson/
Will Allen( Day two pick) / Wade. But I'm convinced we won't get an offer for the #1 worth taking.

I don't see guys like them in our future. We will be looking at the lighter guys who are fast laterally.

Lutui and Jean-Gilles will not fit our system very well. Mangold is a nice C from Ohio State that has a nice mean streak and looked great this week, and he could play either OG/C and is smaller and more athletic to fit zone blocking better. Hopefully we can bring in LeCharles Bentley in free agency too so we can put him and Mangold at RG and C, whichever combination works out best for us. Pitts/Wiegert/Mangold/Bentley/?? would be a nice OL, hopefully we can find someone better than Todd Wade somewhere in there since he can't pass block at all anymore and isn't great in the running game either.

I like Mangold...Here is a pic of him showing his "mean streak":

The other guy I'd like to get is Jason Spitz from Louisville...This guy is a total psycho, and I like that in an O-Lineman...Here's my proof:

There's no way that guy is sane!

1. Eslinger is being projected at the bottom of the second on alot of boards.

2. With the amount of talent in this draft, Blackmon, Edwards, Griffin, and Colledge all have a chance of sliding to the 3rd. They are bottom of the second talent, if that. Well, Colledge may have improved his stock at the senior bowl.

3. We would trade down from #33 because the pick is worth alot, and by trading down we still manage to stay in the 40-50 area with our second, and gain a 3rd pick in the third so that we can grab a couple more quality players before the second day.

4. Eslinger is basicly the same size as Mangold.. but is a better C.. he has great technique and could PROBABLY start immediatly. And im betting that in a Denver style system, we could move him to guard.

5. Im not betting on getting Bentley or Hutchinson.. they are too expensive and too high profile to come here.

Ill take both. That guy is creepy.

To me it depends on who is still available at pick 33. But I like the idea we could do somthing like this.
Round 2 Mangold or spitz whoever is rated higher.
Round 3 wichever we dont get in round 2
Round 3 Will Blackmon
Round 3 David Thomas
Round 4 dwayne slay
I would also like to try and get R McNiel but we might have to trade our fith and sixth round picks to be able to get him.

a possible trade down partner is Buffalo. they have pick #42 in the second and two picks (#70,#73) in the third.

They may be willing to trade us #42 and #73 for #33... and we may have to throw in our 4th or 5th rounder in..depending.

between the #33 pick and the #42 pick is NO, NYJ, GB, OAK, SF, TEN, DET, and ARI...

the Bills big needs are OT and DT/DE.. so they may be very interested in trading up and getting Winston, McNeil, Scott.. or possible Dumervill or Bunkley on the Dline... or they may want to get a TE like Pope or Lewis or Fasano. All possibilities to slide out of the first.

Just thought id throw this out there for completeness :)

The 33rd pick is basically another first rounder, why not take an elite player that drops to 33 rather than trading it for another 3rd? The 33rd pick may end up being the difference maker in this draft if Reggie is selected # 1...

Eslinger is a very good pick, maybe not as high as 33 though. Eslinger fits perfectly into Coach Kubiak's zone blocking scheme. If we do trade down and take Brick, (which by the way i think we should do) and snag and extra second round pick hypothetically. we could end up with something like this...

RD 1. D'Brickshaw Ferguson (OT) Virginia - he really does remind me of Walter Jones, can run block, can pass block. In my opinion if you're looking for the best pro prospect in this draft, here's your guy. No offense to Bush, Leinart, Young, Cutler, Hawk, or Williams. D'BRICK is the man.
RD 2. Bobby Carpenter (OLB) Ohio State - hopefully he slides down about 5 or 6 picks from where is he projected, he played with the best linebacking corps in the country and is exceptionally fast, can blitz off the corner...actually tracked down Vince Young in the meeting earlier this season from the Will LB position.
RD 2. Dominique Byrd (TE) USC - Overlooked and underutilized at USC, he can catch passes appx. 30 this season. He is a big target and is a solid run blocker. Put Byrd on the side with the RT for an extra man against the blitz or send him out on a mismatch against a safety or linebacker. I think he's just one step behind Lewis as a pass receiver, and he's above Lewis as a run blocker IMO.
RD 3. Greg Eslinger (C) Minnesota - Very quick OL, can move very well and is exceptional at pulling in front of a running back namely Moroney at Minnesota. His pass blocking may need a little work, but its an improvement even as a rookie.
RD 4. Daniel Bullocks (S) Nebraska - I would doubt it if Bullocks drops this far in the draft, Bullocks is a tough safety who can come up and make a tackle. but if he doesn't should Kubiak take a chance on Michael Robinson at Safety and maybe at the vacancy at Punt Returner, and possibly as a wide reciever?? in the fourth round he could be a steal.

i wouldnt agree with trading #33-look at what might be there in april-1 of the good tackles,1 of the 3 excellent te's(although i wouldnt mind taking byrd in the 3rd or late 2nd after a trade-down),a quality db like simpson(unlikely),hill, youbuty etc. this pick should definitely be used by us

I Hope that by some miracle Leonard Pope is still there or OT Jonathan Scott or
Marcus McNeil i think we are sitting pretty in this whole draft we should come out with four starters out of it.

Dont like Jon Scott he is a RT and likely goes around the same place Khalif Barnes did last year. Eslinger is solid, but I think he has grown as much as he can and we are seeing close to his best. Mangold is a beast and I would not mind getting him top of the 3rd or trading back in the second if I think he will be gone. Eric Winston solidified his place as a first rounder during Senior Bowl week and unless Winston Justice does something major Winston will be the second OL taken. It hurts me greatly cause I was hoping he lasted till the Broncos pick so we could trade back into the low first and get him.

Is it just me, or is he thinking he's going to eat the camera-man? Seriously, that is just un-nerving looking at that guy. By the way, where does everyone think Mangold will fall?

His name is Luiti.

I was a very big supporter of him before his bandwagon started going. Then we realized we would be running a zone scheme. Luiti is 6-7ish 370+. He is an awsome linemen, but he is probally one of the worst fits for our team.

While I have never been a really big supporter of Giles, he also does not fit our scheme. He is 350+ and slow at the POA. He is VERY strong and will manhandle people, but I do not want him pulling.

FYI, Taitusi Lutui is 6'3", 338 lbs. and Max Jean-Gilles is 6'3.5", 358 lbs. as of their Senior Bowl weigh in a week ago today.

wow.. Lutui's weight was WAY off. Still too heavy for Denver's scheme.. if we are indeed running that.

:hmmm: where does that put 6-8ish 320+ Todd Wade

Wade is now listed at 315 lbs. That is incredibly svelt for a 6' 8" athlete. He may not be ideal for the zone blocking scheme, but I'll bet he shows a ton of improvement next year with new coaching.

That is the wild card, and one I am inclined to bet on.
