Andrew Billings sliding is a surprise to me. I thought we would grab him in 3rd. Any insight as to why he is sliding down.

I'm fine with this. Just remember, we tried this before already. Some have opined he would not be good for Houston. I like him for pure NT who has strength and attitude to play plus decent motor. Day 3 pick + season behind Wilfork and he could have good ceiling.
I said it could be because many see Billings as only a two down player. In nickle and dime situations 60%-70% of the time Billings would be on the sidelines. That's only 500 snaps a year vs a an every down player who would see the field 800-1000 snaps a year. Two down players are usually day 3 draft picks.Andrew Billings sliding is a surprise to me. His knee is not the problem. Last year, he sustained what was reported as an "ankle sprain" which led to him being placed in a boot and subsequently missing only 1 game. But he continued to deal with and be affected by his ankle problem throughout the remainder of the season. What was not disclosed is that his ankle sprain was not the common lateral ankle sprain.......it was a high ankle sprain.........an injury that can easily become a chronic and recurrent problem in a big lineman, especially in an NT who needs a strong set of ankles to consistently hold the point (or rush) against at least 1 or 2 other 300+ pounders. It has to be injury related.
Wolverine mentioned in the other thread that some teams red flagged him for his knee.
Extremely young to play professionally. Will need positive locker room leaders to guide him as he matures.
Teams will decide through research and interviews whether Billings can handle the NFL life at such a young age...
OK, but we've seen guys with major knee injuries that still can't workout go on the 2nd day. The Raiders top 2 picks have knee concerns. I can't see Billings getting knocked to the 3rd day for a high ankle sprain with all of the others flying off the board without issue. Are there character issues unknown to the general public? In his NFL.com writeup on Billings, Zierlein implied that Andrew has some maturity issues:
Immaturity problems have not typically dropped a healthy great prospect into a free fall either.OK, but we've seen guys with major knee injuries that still can't workout go on the 2nd day. I guess you have to put the entire NFL on that cautionary list. The guy ran a sub 5 second 40 on his pro day, despite these possible injury concerns. At this point, I'm certainly not advocating the Texans taking Billings. Just wondering what the deal is, because none of the explanations add up for me.After the Nix experiment, I can't see them taking Billings based on Zierlein's take.

Well these people don't know what they are talking about. He is a three down player mark my word.I said it could be because many see Billings as only a two down player. Well Mayock just said that he talked with four different teams and they all said Billings was on the board because he's strictly a two down player.
Not sure I totally buy that but it seems to be a popular opinion.
You should know that there are dozens of commentators on TV and radio let alone the internet. I don't save each of these especially for a player I am not interested in. If I have time later I'll try to find links. We're half way through 4th and we will see soon if Texans take him.Who are these some?
