Andre Johnson this season (old thread alert)

Just wanted everyone's thoughts on how improved yall think Andre will be this season at WR?Personally, hopefully he has been working on his hands, but knowing him he has most likely been working hard in all aspects........

it all comes down to who is playing WR for us on other side, if someone not even his grandma fears...will be AJ playing tag you're it with double coverage.

A player that scares the defensive coordinator, we will see AJ post some incredible numbers.

I hate to use a Cowboys player as an example, my momma taught me better than that. but when Irvin had a legit WR they couldn't keep both guys on him and let other guy run downfield...We need our #2 WR to step up and make the D come after him to free up AJ

AJ's numbers will improve this year, not a whole lot but I think he'll put up the same type of numbers. The key is for him is to become the primary target in the endzone and if that happens his touchdown numbers will increase. A no.2 receiver will also help out Johnson.

what the texans should do is give him quick hitches every play. those work well plus they would benefit his numbers

Lot of talk about recievers 2-5 (including DD)taking the pressure off double coverage on AJ. Assuming that AJ is the primary target (which he will be on most WR plays) the 2-5 are check offs. Carr rarely has the time to check all the way down to the 3 and 4. Gaffney made some great plays when Carr was able to buy time, scramble and allow Gaffney to create. Carr has had D-lineman on him before he can take a 2 step drop. Im telling you if the O-Line were to give Carr a 3 step drop and 3 or 4 secs in the pocket consistantly many things would change.

Coaches would not be called conservative anymore

AJ will be a pro bowler

More recievers will be able to contribute

Carrs passing rating will increase

DD's numbers would increase

The D will not be on the field as long.

The Texans make the playoffs

I could go on forever it seems....

The first half of last season proved that to be true. Carrs numbers were OUTSTANDING. DD caused some problems and we lost a couple we shouldn't have. Give David time and we can light it up, but we need a complete TE and some sort of #2 to make it all fly.
