HOUSTON -- Andre Johnson missed practice for a second straight day Thursday with a deep thigh bruise, raising questions about his status for Sunday's game.
The star receiver was injured last Sunday against the Bills, but was able to finish the game and had six catches for 76 yards.
On Wednesday coach Gary Kubiak was optimistic that he would be ready to play this week against the Jets, but seemed much less so on Thursday.
"It is a concern," Kubiak said. "I'm not going to hide that from anybody. I think the thigh bruise is a bit more than we thought it was. Hopefully he'll come out tomorrow and feel better. But he couldn't go and we held him out."
Johnson leads the NFL in receptions with 74 and his 884 yards are third-best in the league.
He has started each game for Houston this season and hasn't missed a game since he sat out three straight in October 2005 with a calf injury.
Johnson, who is listed on the injury report as probable, jogged and spent time on a stationery bike during practice.
