All razzing aside I am so looking forward to this game

Yeah i bet you JAGS fans are looking for some payback after we put it on dat @$$ when yall came to houston. I hope we beat yall again and ruin you chances for the playoffs.

Just a little friendly trash-talking, don't take it too serious.

well, hopefully this go around fred will get more than 3 carries. between him and jimmy, your D will have its hands full this week. that coupled with stroud and henderson against your VERY banged up O-Line could make for an interesting day.

BTW, what was with Carr's hissy fit? quite the drama queen, eh?

I think he wants accountability from the OL? It would nice to see solid OL play this week.

Thats a tall order when you talk about who they have to block up front this week. No doubt it will be a huge game, and every player will play is ace off.

Ill take "drama queen" Carr over, Limp of the field Leftwich. ;)

Player Att Comp Yds Comp % Yds/Att TD TD % INT INT % Long Sack/Lost

David Carr 422 257 3286 60.9 7.8 14 3.3 12 2.8 69 39/256 84.5

Byron Leftwich 399 246 2757 61.7 6.9 15 3.8 8 2.0 65 22/98 86.4

byron has a better completion %, more TD's and less INTs than Carr. and he missed 2 games. and he's a 2nd year player. i'll take the limping off the field any day, long as he gets back on it for the next series. and he doesn't throw hissy fits like a girl. and he didn't get his hairstyle from michael jackson

Call it what you want but any person in the situation Carr was in would've been pretty ticked, including Byron.

You'll take the limping off the field any day as long as he gets back in the next series yet he missed two games. That doesn't sound right.

Gary Coleman part duex is frail. He's going to need an emergency calling device around his neck the way he keeps getting hurt. Of course it helps that the Jag Oline is better than ours. He deserves credit though. BL has played well, but I'll stick with my boy Carr.

he missed 2 games because of a torn knee ligament, that was an extreme case. In GB, he was taking shots to the chest and getting up slow. as long as he gets back up, thats fine.

Ah... another Jacksonville game and another week of ***** Jacksonville fans trolling this board. Good times.

you mis-spoke. it should be "another week of ***** jacksonville fans whose team is still in the playoff hunt trolling this board". don't leave that part out, it's important.

The definition of misspoke is to speak or pronounce incorrectly. Fan of a playoff team or not, you're an ***** Jacksonsville fan.

I've heard about Jacksonville fans. I just never see that many when I tune in the tv to watch a game being played at "All-Tarp" Stadium.

I don't care about what you see on TV, or blackouts. I have tickets, so I could care less of the weiner fairweather fans in jax can't see it on their TV. Ithink tarping the seats is stupid, but if it needs to be done, than whatever.

Yes, it's important. It's also temporary.

Fair enough, you are entitled to your opinion.

how does it work over here? do you guys make a predictions thread, or do people just throw it out in random threads, or in sigs, or what?

We have not done an official prediction thread in a while. Let's start one.

I love the Texans but in all honesty, I think the Jags will be focused and primed for this "play-off" game.

Jags 24
Texans 14

wow! thanks for not being a homer. I really think that the game will be closer than that. the texans are no slouch, but I don't think that you'll be able to contain freddie T.

Jags 17
Tin-horns 13

Well, in the spirit of not being a homer I'll say that the Jags probably should win this game. The Texans don't play all that good on the road, Jacksonville has all the motivation they should need being still in the hunt for a playoff spot, and frankly I think the Jags are little ahead of us on the growth curve.

I believe the only way the Texans win this game is if they come in and get the turnovers going. The defense seems to be coming together nicely but that was the Bears offense on the field last week and we Texans fans shouldn't forget that. It was a good performance by our defense but it was still the Bears. Hopefully (if you're a Texans fan) our defense has the Mo going and can get an early takeaway to keep it going. Also hopefully there's some carryover from Carr's chewing on the line's collective butts and they continue to provide a reasonable amount of protection. Even if they do I don't think the Texans can afford to get into a scoring contest with the Jags this week. If we do then we lose.

Back to homer mode now (cause that's just the way I am) I predict the Texans win this one 17-10.

C'MON MEN! What was different between this meeting and last meeting? The same Jaguars trolls talkin their usual $h!t. Plus the only difference in this game and last game was that fragile fred got injured, and itll probably happen again. Oh! one other thing...the longest gain given up by the Texans in the past two weeks was a 32 yard pass from Payton to Reggie Wayne. TEXANS ROLL!!!(just like the last practice session)

We'll see how fast Limpwitch gets up after he gets picked off, then blew up by DROB!!!

Yeah. I lived in Florida for a couple of years. Fortunately, I was in Gainesville. The Gators rule Florida. The only thing that I saw in Jacksonville was cry babies. Sounds like they are still there!
Texans 31
Pussycats 27
:bouncey:

Texans Defense owns Limpin Lefty and Fred, maybe Taylor will make it to 4 carries this game before he's knocked on his **** and out of the game....again...
FEAR THE DROB!! eek: eek: eek:

The Jags will be hunting the liter box

I don't like the jags and I hope the texans punch them right in them mouth. They have won some very questionable games especially the first game where he came down out of bounds and was not pushed.

We better hope because he had 165 yards against the Pack on only 22 carries...

Through 7 home games this year, Houston's average attendance is 70,638, Jacksonville's is 69,891. Hooray, you've beat us by 747 fans! :jumpbanan

What really makes me mad is that this game will be blacked out for me. I live in Orlando. I pay that $174 to see all the games. It is really not fair that we are considered Jags area with all the Dolphins fans and Bucs fans. Jax is definitely not a team most people care about here. Just look the people in Jax don't care about this team. Well I will be routing for Texans.

David Carr and Byron Leftwich have faced eachother twice. David Carr was injured fro one game last year. In those two games...

David Carr 28-35 520 yds. 2 tds. 1 int.
Byron Leftwich 42-76 458 yds. 1 tds. 5 int.

OK even if the game is blacked out does that mean that our LOCAL channels wont pick the game up ? if not does that mean i gotta resort to the radio ?

The blackout only applies to a ~75 mile radius of Jacksonville, Florida -- Northeast Florida and southeast GA.

Your local CBS affiliate in Huntsville will have the game as usual.

You should do your research before posting ignorant statements. The people of Houston ran Bud Adams and his organization out of town. There was no mistake about it.

Exactly how did "the people of Houston" accomplish that? :BananaWav

With all due respect to what you can find on the internet, remember you're talking to a lot of people here who lived it, and it's a very sore subject. The article you cite is paradoxical. There's a lot of things I find wrong with the article but I agree with its bottom line that Houston didn't lose the Oilers because of lack of support. Houston lost the team because of two decades of perceived misdeeds by the owner which in the end (if it would have gotten as far as a public referendum - and all shotty lease agreements notwithstanding), Bud's request for a new stadium would have been beaten to a pulp.

Mayor Lanier knew it would have been career suicide to support Bud's request because Bud lost whatever community, industry, and political support he had here over the years. He fooled us with the feign to Jax in the late 80's and we're still paying for the improvements to a building that is now being left to die. Bud had the public relations skills of a slug. He had no one around him with any marketing skills. He had terrible timing. People never forgave him for firing what was (then) the most loved, most popular and most charismatic coach in the team's history. He was a wealthy oil man who was used to getting his way so when he entered into the exclusive negotiating agreement with Bredesen, the general reaction here (beyond shock and sadness) was "don't let the door hit ya in the *****." For every middle finger he put up in our faces, there were 50,000 more back at him.

There's things in the article that are wrong. Like this one: "the Oilers were coming close to selling out every single game- even when they went 2-14."In the 2-14 season, half their home games were 44,000 or less. They had crowds of 39,000, 31,000, and 31,000 in their last three home games. The Dome capacity then was around 60,000. Since when is 16,000 -29,000 unsold tickets "close to a sell out?" That was before any of the relocation talk started. Bud dismantled the team after the '93 season - the rise of free agency as we know it. The lack of support that year was due to two straight choke jobs in the playoffs and the fact that the team had released a number of star players. Pardee was fired around Thanksgiving and Mullet Boy (as you call him) got his opportunity to coach his first game on MNF against the Giants.

Then there's this: The NFL football ratings in Houston stayed about even the last year they were in town, dropping slightly. If the interest had really left the fans, the Nielson ratings would have plummeted as people would have watched something else or done other activities on a Sunday afternoon. Most if not all of the Oilers home games were blacked out that year so people weren't watching the Oilers because they weren't on TV. Sound familiar? So what Nielson ratings is the author talking about? Dallas vs. the Redskins? The Oilers had a "near" sell out (83% capacity) that last year when they played the Steelers because half the stadium was full of Steelers fans. Sound familiar? The other fairly well attended game that season was against the (12-4) 49ers who were only two years removed from being a Super Bowl champion. I guess there was a fair crowd for the Miami game that year too. One last chance to see Marino I guess.

End rant - out.
