Continuing our draft watch series, let's take a look at senior running back C.J. Spiller from Clemson.
The Texans primary needs entering the 2010 draft are at running back, cornerback, interior offensive lineman, free safety and defensive tackle.
Spiller's current projection from NFL Draft Scout is early to late first round, which should tell you something about this year's running back class.
Read any scouting report on Spiller and you will see the same thing - comparisons to Felix Jones and Reggie Bush, i.e., an explosive runner with speed to take it to the house.
But with that comes the knock.
"Spiller is not the kind of back who can carry a team by rushing 20-25 times a game over the course of a 16-game season. Like a Reggie Bush or Felix Jones, though, he can be a situational player who gives the offense big-play capability out of the backfield. ... Spiller is apt to be the first back taken in the draft in spite of his lack of power and bulk." - NFL.com
