AJ out for Broncos--Family Loss

I hope everything works out for Johnson.

The silver lining in this is that we will get a better look at the other WR's and what they can do. It will be interesting to see who steps up and who becomes the primary receiver.

It's in today's practice report at the this site. I'd link, but there doesn't seem to be individual page paths at the Texans site.

May The Lord be with Andre and his family.

I too believe this gives Capers and Palmer an opportunity to look at guys like Sloan Thomas, and Kendrick Sterling (who in my opinion are the other two fighting for the last spot). It also gives valuable time for Armstrong to get game action because I feel he will make the difference in our passing game and 3rd down conversions.

AJ will of course be missed but it's not like the Texans don't know exactly what they've got in the big guy. He needs to take care of the family matters. That's far more important than anything else happening this weekend and it also happens to work out better for the Texans. a longer, better look at those young recievers could make all the difference in the world.

Similarly Davis being out so much might have really helped the coaches make a better decision between Wells and Anderson but then they both got a visit from the injury bug who pretty much made the decision for them by taking Anderson out of the picture for this year.

It was reported Andre Johnson was excused from practice due to death in his family, lets all remember him at a tough time and pray for his family and Andre

My thoughts and Prayers are with AJ and his family first and foremost.

As to the football side of the equation, I was looking forward to him matching up with Champ. But, under the heading of silver lining in every cloud, if AJ isn't playing, he can't get injured, it keeps his legs fresher, and it gives guys like Thomas and Starling more time to shine. It will also force Carr into finding the open man, instead of going to his fallback man in AJ. All in all, from a football standpoint ONLY, AJ not being there, could be a blessing in disguise, considering we are in pre-season.

Also, Champ doesn't get to scope out AJ's stuff before we meet them Nov. 7. Could work in our favor.

Its sure gonna be a tough test for Thomas and Starling. Chance to really see what they're made of.
My heart goes out to AJ and his family in their hour of grief.
