Arrest warrant for 49ers' Brooks

Authorities in San Jose have obtained an arrest warrant for San Francisco 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks alleging he hit teammate Lamar Divens with a beer bottle.

Police statements accompanying the warrant application allege Brooks hit Divens with a beer bottle three times and then punched him in the face during an argument over car keys, causing a 3-inch laceration to his forehead. The alleged incident occurred in front of Brooks' home early on June 8.

Investigators were told Brooks was intoxicated and had threatened to get a gun.

Authorities: Ahmad Brooks arrest warrant filed in error

Divens initially wanted to press charges against Brooks, but he changed his mind five days after the incident.

"He said this would be bad for both of their careers and that he just wanted to keep playing and that they had resolved it," according to the documents obtained by the Mercury News.

Divens, signed in February, hasn't appeared in an NFL regular-season game since 2010.

"We have not completed the investigation," Sinunu-Towery told NFL.com and NFL Network. "We recalled the warrant. We will announce next week whether or not we will press charges. I just want to confirm: There is no warrant outstanding. There is no arrest outstanding."

NFL executives and coaches talk tough on domestic violence but don’t really follow through. 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh once told his players that he will forgive them for anything except striking a woman. Well, in 2008, Ahmad Brooks literally punched a woman in the face, allegedly giving her a black eye and causing her to black out. Brooks shortly thereafter was starting for the 49ers. For what it's worth, the woman Brooks allegedly punched was a stranger he encountered on the street..........I guess in this recent episode, he couldn't find a woman.
