A question for the NFL

We see all this hoopla about the players 40 times at the Combine and this just does not give anyone justice on how they perform at game time.

An example of this is the Browns, Niners, Bears, Dolphins, and Lions. I'm pretty sure that the most active guys on the field run 4.2s, 4.3s, and 4.4s.

In my honest opinion, that doesn't make these guys better catchers and hitters.

No but they can get to the ball faster. Pick up a fumble and take it to the house. Being one step faster can be the diffrence between a okay wideout and a good one. All you need is to have a step on a coner and make a big play. I can go on and on. :listening

What i'm saying is there are alot of guys who do excellent in the combine, but there are alot of busts going around the NFL because of their speed time. People judge time and think "oh he's gonna be great" and he turns up a David Terrell, R Jay Soward, Charles Woodson.

Look at Santana Moss. He has pure speed but that hasn't equated on the field.

Being "Physically Gifted" doesnt make you a smart player and it doesnt give you the work ethic that the great players have but it does give one prospect an advantage over another in terms of potential .

The NFL is not going to only look at the combine, they have been watching these guys play the last few years and scouting them since they were in high school. It may pump up a person a little bit but the best players are still the best players. The combine will never take a 1st round pick to not being drafted.

Anyone seen the wonderlic scores yet? I've always put a heavy emphasis on that when looking at players

Interesting stuff. Baas and Castillo are both pretty high up there in terms of Wonderlic scores. Looks like Gore is closer to the bottom. Geoff Hangartner seems to have done the best.

Good stats from the combine Lucky - thanks. The 10 & 20 times are a lot more useful for the big guys than the 40s. Hey, that Aggie guy with the
high score gotta be an Engineer.
