Hi to the great state of Texas from Western New York.
I got the news and was shocked like a lot of you seem to be here. I couldn't help but come and look to see how you folks were reacting. Looks like some angry people here.
So putting aside any other thoughts I might have on the matter, I am making a merciful post that is true to help people see the possible up side here.
In years past the Bills had a guy named Bruce Smith who in truth I don't know how much you folks would have heard about him. Bt I got to watch him, and in the beginning he was nothing very special. Like they say Williams might not be right away.
But let me tell you, after a year or so when Bruce Smith got the hang of the NFL, his impact on the team was HUGE. Offenses would have to tie up two or three guys trying to contain him. Smith reminded me of a tiger, this HUGE guy who could twist and turn and he was just a nightmare for other teams.
They never had time to pass. Like they never could just settle into a nice rythm of a passing game, even with trying to contain him with double teams. And it also left our other players with a great advantage to cause trouble because they had to put so much effort into Smith.
Last, Bruce's prime lasted years longer than the prime of most running backs. He was a total animal for about ten years.
So come September you might not see any big impact. But if this guy you picked becomes for you, anything like what Smith was for us, you will never go back to today and weep again remembering it. You will be pleased as punch you did this.
