Let's sign 5 more defensive ends in this draft. 2nd round lets get Elvis Dumervil. Maybe Tambi Hali will drop.MorKnolle said:Just saw on ESPN that Mario is getting 6 years, $54 million.

Mario can play any position on the line. Its one of the reasons he's so "super." He is likely the new RE.Frak The Jags said:So, you guys didnt want to have that much tied up in 2 running backs, but it is ok for 2 DE that play the same position?

Bush's work ethic has been well documented and Williams has been known to take plays off. So what is it about? Tell me because I can't really see a good reason for it.

Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports the contract agreed to by DE Mario Williams with the Houston Texans has not been signed yet. Williams' agents are examining the actual contract and taking a detailed look at its language. The deal is a five-year contract with an option for a sixth worth $54 million that could go well over $60 million provided that Williams performs at a certain level.
Sorry to burst the bubbles of those posting after the above quote, but it is a done deal with Mario Williams. It has been reported though that Reggie's agent was asking for QB "1st pick of the draft" $$$. Also the Texans Managment & Ownership was worried that they would not be able to sign Reggie before training camp starts. They want everyone in place day one. Now Reggie's agent will have to contend with the fact that no one will pay the 2nd pick more than the first. That would mess up drafts for years to come. Now is the time to accept the fact that Vince Young & Reggie Bush will NOT be Texans & to welcome Mario Williams to the team. Never let your support of the Texans be decided on a draft pick. Let the team's performance do their talking & then respond. All of us here on the message board have no problem with that.MorKnolle said:The money had nothing to do with this pick. The Texans reported on their website before that Mario and Reggie were rated dead even with each other, it was a question of who would impact their team more, and they chose Mario. If the ochestrator of the #1 overall offense over the last decade+ thinks our offense is fine without Reggie, then I totally trust him to handle the offense without him. Mario is on par with Reggie as the best player in this draft, he plays a less glamorous but more important position. He is the best pick for this team. Accept this and either jump ship and go support a different team or stay on board and start realizing how much better our defense will be next season.

With the exception of a year or two, that is always going to be the case. that is unless you want to adjust for inflation & cost of living, but I am sure both of us have better things to do than try to figure that one out.stevo3883 said:mario just got the biggest contract of any rookie in nfl history if im not mistaken.
