400-pound tight end among those to impress at Baylor's pro day

srrono

All Pro
Tight end LaQuan McGowan -- 6-foot-6 1/8, 405 pounds -- ran the 40-yard dash in 5.55 and 5.41 seconds. He had a 24-inch vertical jump and 8-foot-2 broad jump. He did the 20-yard short shuttle in 5.47 seconds and the three-cone drill in 8.25 seconds. He also performed 30 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. For a man of this size to put up these kind of numbers is really impressive. McGowan has to be the biggest prospect we've ever had at a pro day. If you want to get a sense of McGowan's athleticism, take a look at this 18-yard touchdown reception against Kansas last season.

How did he end up a tight end?
There has got to be s better position for him
Edit- I see he played guard and DT mostly.

He's going to get his legs broken in the NFL.
That's the only way a defender can tackle him without getting themselves hurt. And even then, his legs are like massive tree trunks. He has good athleticism for his size. I would find him useful in goal line situations or inside the red zone. At the one or two yard line, I'd be tempted just to hand off to him and let him bull doze his way towards the goal line. Imagine if he played center? LOL, the quarterback would look small snapping the ball behind him.

I want him, just for the look in the defenders eyes when they have to try to tackle that giant lol
We do need more production out of our tight ends. I'm shocked we didn't trade for Martellus Bennett though, who had 90 receptions two seasons ago. Even had 53 catches this past season during an injury-riddled season.

The Patriots just gave up a fourth-round pick for him. And they already have the best Tight End in the game. The Pats double TE formations are going to be nasty this year.

If a 4th round pick is the value placed on a productive tight end, then WOW! We should be in good shape trying to locate one via trade or even the draft.
