3-1 for the first quarter of the season

Hervoyel

BUENO!
Not a fan of how it went down but I think we'd all take 3-1 every four weeks if we could get it. Next four looks more like 1-3 though to me. Buffalo, New England, Green Bay, and Indianapolis again (now with a better QB) looks tough. We're liable to be 4-4 at the half*. What do you think? Predictions?

*To this day I forget the season isn't 16 games long anymore.

TY Herv for providing a public service to the fans on our MB who are delusional enough to actually think our Texans are SB contenders because those folks need to be talked down to
this earth, especially after that azz-whipping up in Minnesota a week ago.
On the other hand I don't have that much difficulty in seeing us accomplish a 2-2 record over
the upcoming quarter of our schedule.

Makes sense. They pull some things together and somebody looking at the Texans play in the first four weeks finds themselves entering a game with us thinking it will be too easy. Could happen. If we manage two and two I'd like it to be wins against the Patriots and Colts but wouldn't turn down any of them really. There's always the "Win some you should lose and lose some you should win" effect in play.

Did you watch the Bills & Ravens last night? The Bills didn't look like contenders, do you think they're not?

Until last night the Ravens didn't look like contenders, do you think they're not?

I agree we need to readjust our expectations about how this thing will play out, but don't get it twisted. This team will be contending for the Super Bowl come January.

I'm hoping the team grows, I think they probably go 2-2 but maybe 3-1. The team needs to grow and develop more continuity. It's up to the coaches to develop more cohesion in the OL and the secondary. Getting Autry and Harris back will really help the defense.

the penalties need to stop
I agree, they need to stop.

But.... it's kind of like that weighted ring batters put on their bats before they go up to bat. Penalties have got to stop. But hopefully this kind of thing prevents the team from panicking when they get in 1st/2nd & 20.

Ought to make 1st & 10 a lot easier.

I am torn between predicting 1-3 and 2-2 over the next four. If they don't start to get their **** together...it could be 0-4. They flat out stink right now. The record is what it is...but they could very very easily be 0-4 as we stand here today. Just because #7 dons his cape one more time...that's not something you can hang your hat on. They have beaten the lesser than....barely. The one team that has good talent... got shellacked. The problems with this team are longer than my arm. They won't have it all solved in a week. I'd like to see some progress, especially on the mental side.

But If they come out next week and repeat the same silly mistakes, play listless, continue to outfox themselves and shoot themselves in the foot, the Bills will run them over, and it will be a massacre.

At this point...just being competitive next week with fewer mental errors would be a win in my book. My early prediction Bills 38 Texans 20.

Some solid return of players are coming….that’s a plus. Get these ducking penalties under control and that would be a massive plus. A few stunts on the DL could help Anderson and Hunter hit pay dirt more often versus hitting the pressure point. Find a way to get the running game back on the WK1 success train. I could see a 3-1 record over the next 4. Bills and Colts at home. Packers and Patriots on the road.

"Contending for the SB come January" ! We can get you medical help, OK ?
We haven't played and beat a significant NFL peer yet and those wins were all nail-biters that
could have gone the other way.

Exactly, I'm saying don't put too much stock in these 1st four games. They mean nothing except in the W-L

This will be a completely different team in January & how they played in the last 4 games will have no relevance to how far they'll go in the playoffs.

None.

All I can say is I hope you are right about the Texans in Jan !

I see 2-2 next four games. Wins against New England and Indy. Losses against Buffalo and GB. Though this team is capable of going 4-0… they are also capable of going 0-4.

But with all the warts this team has grit and will fight tooth and nail all game for their coach. And of course C.J. is playing QB.

We can also expect back key contributors during this stretch like Harris/Autry/Mixon/Dell.

Those are 4 pretty significant players that have been missing.

2&2 would be excellent however, I suspect it will be 1&3. So far they have shown zero ability to self correct. To correct all that is wrong is going to take a lot more than a week or two. If they can get things fully turned around by week 9 I will be surprised.

I think 2-2 is very doable but ONLY if they clean up the sloppiness they have previously fielded.

Healthy and cleaned up all 4 are beatable. Just cause its possible doesn't mean I believe it probable.

IMO keep playing like they have been 0-4 is just as obtainable as 1-3

An ugly win is better than an ugly loss... I will take the wins... I just don't believe the wins are sustainable if the pattern continues.

There was a time, for a long time, that i would watch the Texans if I were around a TV. Otherwise I'd go about my Sunday & do whatever needed to be done at whatever time & catch the Texans off DVR when I got the chance. Usually that same day.

But that changed November/December last year. Things got moved if they conflicted with the Texans games. It got so bad I cut a trip short weekend before last to make sure I was free to watch the Vikings game on TV... on TV. I got it bad, bad, bad. & this is not because I think the Texans are going to win. I just expect to see a good game. & it was late into that Minnesota game before I gave up thinking they would win.

So I'm a little blind & deluded, and I know I'm blind & deluded. With that said, I believe the Texans will go 4-0 over the next 4 games.

I think there’s too much credit given to the opposing teams in this thread. They have flaws, too.

This right here.

It’s a weird PTSD that people have. What the Texans were and would usually do 3, or 5, or 10, or 15, or 20 years is irrelevant.

New HC and QB leading this team. We aren’t playing the Bills from two year ago. It isn’t the Brady led Patriots. It isn’t the Rogers led Packers. It isn’t the Manning led Colts.

All teams have been warts. The only team that has an unfair advantage are the Chiefs.

True

As for the last sentence, it's almost impossible to beat the refs and Mahomes. If the refs are going to cheat, then it's time to go old school on Mahomes.

Getting a healthy Mixon back should make a difference.
These next four games are most definitely going to be interesting.
I was thinking watching the Jags game Slowik needs to use his best weapon more - especially if the run game is not working - particularly in the first half and run the ball more in the second when the D is tiring.
Letting teams get the jump on you and putting the game away early is not encouraging to the defense.
Trade blows with the big boys - if you throw a pick or two but have a passing game going with good points on the board I'm okay with it if we can limit the damage.

I think there’s too much credit given to the opposing teams in this thread. They have flaws, too. I can’t predict who will be available on either side over 4 games. But I think the Texans take care of home field and split on the road to go 3-1.
Some of those teams even with their flaws still matchup well vs the Texans. I think the Bills are one of those teams.

I really respect how the Bills are distributing the ball to multiple players on offense. They're playing smart football. But other than Allen himself, there aren't any dominant players. Like Nico is dominating. Defensively, the Bills have shown their Achilles Heel. But unless Mixon is able to go, the Texans can't expose their run defense. I don't know what the game plans are, but I don't see a blowout either way. Who can make a play when they need it? I like the number of playmakers the Texans have.

Interesting. I have us beating Buffalo and possibly losing to Colts.

My prediction.. 4-0

I disagree that the first four games mean nothing. This team had several flaws coming into this offseason and the first four games have affirmed those flaws are still there. They may have the worst coverage safeties in the league.
