2nd & 4th to Chicago

Speedy

Former Yeller Dweller
Bob Allen, local ABC, just said the Texans are trying to work a 2nd & 4th round pick for Chicago's 1st (#26). He thought they'd go after an o-lineman.

I'm sure there's another multi-million $ DE available at that spot.... :yahoo:

all the 2nd tier olineman should be there at #33
mcneill, winston

DeAngelo Williams could easily be the next L. Tomlinson, and avail at #26. Also look for a quality CB (Antonio Cromartie) or WR (Chad Jackson) there. Look for us to get D. Colledge in the 3rd round- he is very athletic and ideal for our offensive line scheme and that's precisely where he should come off the board.

I'm just so sick of everyone thinking highlight reels of Bush (or VY for that matter) equate at all with NFL productivity. There are finally smart football guys making decisions in our front office and we need to give them the benefit of the doubt (unless we all want to fire Kubiak before the season starts). Remember all the college football highlights for Ryan Leaf, Danny Wurffel, or even Major Freaking Applewhite for that matter? College football is one thing- being successful in the pros in altogether different. I trust Kubiak knows the difference. I for one am looking to move into the Blue section- anyone still looking to sell......?

I don't like this move at all. I think most of us thought it was a lock that we'd go after Eric Winston if he was there. O-line is still one of our primary concerns.

My god please don't let this rumor be true. If it is people need to have rotten eggs and tomatos on hand to throw at these idiots when they come out of their offices tommorow at the draft party.

Amen. I'll bet they push CC out first...

I'm a Chicago Fan, and I think this is a win win for both teams. There will be a good OL avaiable at that spot, and the Bears have shown that they can get it down without the first round picks as of late (look at players such as Nathan Vasher (2nd), Chris Harris (6th), etc.)

But that's a big if.

I hate to bring this up again, but a majority of the past Superbowl winners did not have their O-lines stocked with 1st,2nd, or even 3rd round draft picks. Just look up New England or Pittsburgh's roster- nothing special. We can get good prospects who will contribute, maybe even start in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th rounds. Everyone wants to beat up Wand but can still be a quality tackle (3rd round) and Drew Hodgon (4th round) will likely start in a year or two when Flanagan retires. Its a system and a scheme as much as it is the players.

Winston is athletic- I worry a bit about his size. Bottom line, I wouldn't start a new thread if we picked him in the 2nd round.

If it shouldn't be based on film, then what should it be based on?
Combine Measurables, Work Ethic and Personality, Marketing Ability
All these Reggie Bush has. He has everything you look for in a draft pick

I like this deal. Yeah, last time we traded up to move in the 1st round it didn't work out. Second time's the charm. But I would definately trade the 2nd and 4th for a 1st. Ashton Youbouty (CB) would be a nice pick. As would Lawrence Maroney but I don't think we'll be going running back. Bobby Carpenter would be awesome. Adding Carpenter to Williams would immediately upgrade our defense. Hot damn...I'm excited.

If we move back up into the 1st rd. I think it would either be for a secondary player or a runningback. You can take an o-lineman and another position in the third.

Studying film means looking at all of their plays including one in which there weren't any sacks or TD's scored. Watching Bush dive into the endzone is much more excitiing than watching Mario WIlliams sack that sorry Maryland QB again. Obviously the combine numbers were huge for Williams.

Finally, I hope that is the last time anyone brings up marketability.

WINNING IS MARKETABLE. LOSING IS NOT. period.

I think Joseph or Cromartie are better than Youboty, maybe even Allen. I think they might target Addai or Maroney or wait til the third and pick up Maurice Drew. Another burner that could compliment DD.

you are crazy if you don't think marketability is a factor esp. with Bush.

Apparently they feel Maroney will be there at that spot. Even Addai could be there. Pit might go for a RB, which would cause the Texans to move up to secure one of the top tier RBs.

Imagine getting Maroney and Willaims in the first round.....a lot better than Babin/Robinson!

Maroney is a zone-block scheme RB....he knows the system. He is also a great combo of size, speed and durability. He had a few games with 40 carries and topped 280 carries last year and has been a consistent producer (1100 10 TDs, 1300 12 TDs, 1400 10 TDs).

Now that we passed on Reggie Bush we need O-linemen to protect David Carr!!!
Apperently not to go Blue. He wants that sack record to stand the test of time.

TBS, running back is not a need , therfore that is exactly what we're going to do.

Chicago, this isn't really a good time to tell us what a great deal we're getting. There are a lot of wounds ooozing right now. Making a Babin II deal ain't glad tidings on this board. It's right up there with finding out your sister has been sleeping with your best friend and he's given her the clap .

{LSU grad}.... DD & Addai in same backfield!.... oh my, i'm getting goosebumps!!
That's the ONLY thing I see them moving up for. They get a true zone blocking running back and deny a division rival the oportunity to take him.

I'll only criticize the deal if it's done before the draft. If there is a guy they are targeting then they need to wait and see if he's there before making the deal. By the way, as much as I like our middle round picks, I'd give up our 2nd and one of the 3rds in order to get Deangelo Williams- he's going to be good!

After rereading my post, I thought it was amusing: a 2nd and a 3rd is what we got Buchanan for... Hmm... Deangelo Williams or Phillip Buchanan........ that's a tough call.

D WIllams will be the next LT...small school, great vision, power, downhill running style with the jets to blow through the 2nd tier. Hope he falls because of Bush falling!!

Saw him shred C-USA defenses the past 3 years!

Joseph probably is, but Cromartie is a head scratcher. He was injured all of last season, but he had great individual workouts. I heard on ESPN he would have been a top 10 pick had he stayed healthy, but we don't know that because there was nothing to base it on last season. I've heard Youbouty is very raw, but I'm biased towards him. We went to the same high school. Granted, I didn't know him personally, but as a fellow alumnus, I think it would be neat to see him in a Texans uniform.
