Whelp - he's fast so that will help stretch defenses.
That will definitely take WR off the table in the draft and FA.

Dec 27,2017 From BlackandTeal.com (same info as posted on Scout.com):

Crockett played college football for Georgia Southern, where he saw action in 47 games with 18 starts at wide receiver over the course of four seasons. At his pro day, Crockett ran a 4.39 40-yard dash, which would’ve placed him in third among wide receivers had he been invited to the NFL combine. At the regional combine in New Orleans shortly after, Crockett reported an impressive 4.30 40-yard dash, which if accurate, would have placed him as one of the fastest players in the draft.

He went undrafted in May of 2017, and was signed as a free agent with the Green Bay Packers immediately following the draft. He faced tough odds in camp, competing against nine other wide receivers for a roster spot, two of whom who were drafted, and the other seven being on the roster from the previous season. Despite all of that, Crockett had a really impressive training camp with the Packers, and was even said to be the fastest player on the team by a number of his teammates.

Crockett was cut by the Packers during final roster cuts at the end of training camp. He worked out for the Chicago Bears and the Houston Texans before getting signed to the Jaguars practice squad at the end of October.

After impressing during practice, Montay Crockett was promoted to the active roster in response to Jaelen Strong’s season-ending ACL tear Sunday against San Francisco. His nearly two months as part of the team have given him plenty of time to take in the playbook and develop chemistry with the quarterback. His exciting speed is something to look out for, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him get a decent amount of playing time against the Titans on Sunday.

Some college film on Crockett:

Played WR, KR, PR, DB (not uncommonly played both sides of the ball) and STs....................speedy, elusive with sticky hands and doesn't seem to go down very easily.....has moves that you expect from a shifty running back.
Found sources saying that he ran the 40 as fast as 4.25 in N.O.

Nice vertical jump at 38 (equivalent to Darelle Revis............and would have been beaten out by only 3 WRs at the Combine), and not weak with bench of 18 reps (would have been beaten out by only 3 WRs at the Combine...........by only 1 rep).

How did this thread turn into another draft or what should we do type of posting? Last year, we had a similar transaction thread which was kept pretty clean regarding either about to happen transactions or completed player transactions.. When postings get all mixed up with other subjects, it's very difficult to go back and try to search for pertinent information.

Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack this thread.

Although it would be good to have this guy help upgrade the ST's.

Houston Texans Add Darius Kilgo with a Reserve/Futures Contract

The Houston Texans have signed free agent nose tackle Darius Kilgo to a reserve/futures deal. Kilgo spent the 2017 season with the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad.

Kilgo was drafted in 2015 by the Denver Broncos in the 6th round (203rd overall) out of Maryland. With the Broncos, he appeared in 9 games his rookie season, making six tackles, but was inactive for all of the post season games including the Super Bowl. For his career, Kilgo has appeared in 18 games totaling 11 tackles and 1 pass deflection.

Kilgo was released by the Broncos in November of 2016 and claimed by the New England Patriots three days later. He was with the Patriots on the practice squad for the remainder of the 2016 season.

Kilgo has two Super Bowl rings, one with the Broncos in 2015 and another with the Patriots in 2016.

At 6'3", he weighs in at 320 lbs. In college, his main deficiency was upper body strength. His ProDay 33 bench reps did not translate into on the field NFL playing strength. After being drafted, he has apparently developed the needed strength to play NT. But though he can be considered a "space eater" now, he has shown no ability as a pass rusher.

I’ll probably care when I hear we picked up a few offensive linemen to replace the pretenders currently on the roster.
Yes, it's hard to get up more than a passing interest in the Newoilers as long as Billy remains the coach.

The Texans cut Erik Austell with non football injury designation. Another OL gone. Last year, he was only a camp body. Never saw action in a game.

Don't believe that this has been posted here
http://texanswire.usatoday.com/2018...0-signed-to-texans-reserve-futures-contracts/
Zach Conque, Dee Virgin among 10 signed to Texans reserve/futures contracts

  • Guard Erik Austell [HAS BEEN RECENTLY RELEASED AS PER PREVIOUS POST]
  • TE Zach Conque
  • Cornerback Dee Virgin
  • Linebacker Kennan Gilchrist
  • Defensive tackle Marcus Hardison
  • Cornerback Bryce Jones
  • Running back Troymaine Pope
  • Tight end Jevoni Robinson
  • Offensive tackle Jake Rodgers
  • Cornerback Josh Thornton

If my memory is correct, Conque was actually looking fairly decent until an injury ended his camp far to early. I'd like to see him pick up where he left off during this off-season. Also, it would be nice to see Lechler finally relieved of his emergency backup QB duties since that should fall right into Conque's swim lane, provided he can play himself onto the team.

At 6'6" 240, he would have a heck of QB stature. But the Texans drafted him with only the intention of playing TE. It's interesting to note that as a QB he seemed to be matching his passing TDs with rushing TDs. With the acquisition of Watson, Qonque's "mobile" QB skills could be re-evaluated for development as a backup.

....and like I mentioned, as a replacement for Emergency QB duties so Lechler would never have to worry about going under center in a pinch. Conque is a big guy and his QB'ing numbers certainly aren't the worst I've seen but he's a TE now. I wonder if O'Brien could get creative enough to draft a play or 2 that might see Conque used in a TE Option type of play. He does have to make the team first.

$2 million guaranteed $600K signing bonus + $1.4 m based for a $2 million cap hit was what I was hoping for but thought Texans would pay more; this is a tremendously great deal.

$630 k is good deal but I did not have him on my final roster.

Splashhhh Bruce Ellington resigns for 1 year!! Bust out the champagne! Really though how many games will he be hurt this year? I say 8.

A little info on our FA OL:

RT- Seantrel Henderson / 6-7 @ 331 lbs / U Miami - BUF / RD7 Pick / Projected as a RD2 or RD3 RT with plenty of upside. Pulled a positive at the Combine and dropped like a rock.

RG- Zach Fulton / 6-5 @ 316 lbs / Tennessee - KC / RD6 Pick / Although he's always played multiple positions on the OL...his NFL projection was RG.

OG- Senio Kelemete / 6-4 @ 307 lbs / U Washington - NO / RD5 Pick / Again, jack of all trades as a 6th OL with NO. He's always been projected to be at his best on the inside. That's a lot of guys (Fulton, Martin, Mancz & Fuller) on the inside and each one of them have the versatility to be OG/OC's primarily.

Possibilities:

OG- Justin Pugh / 6-4 @ 307 lbs / Syracuse - NYG / RD1 Pick / Why didn't the Texans make him a higher priority to sign? Might've come down to money....really don't know why they didn't pursue. At this point, Pugh no longer makes sense....the team has a gluten of interior and versatile OL.

LT- Greg Robinson / 6-5 @ 332 lbs / Auburn - DET / RD1 Pick / I've already stated that he's probably the only LT left worth signing...and his signing should cost the Texans no more than what Henderson did. It is what it is guys, the best LT's are off the board....now they have to roll the dice and hope that Watson can help make them look better. Also, the injury that got him released was a high ankle sprain...he did make it back by the last game of the season. A high ankle sprain is not a career ending injury for a 25 year old athlete.....but being considered "bust" could do the trick.

Bruce Ellington returns to the Texans on a one-year contract. Played well for them last season

Combine Fuller and Ellington and you got a whole season from one of the WR spots. Neither one can stay healthy but both can do great things with the ball. When you have them both on the field at the same time it's a downright luxury. Glad he's back.

Wish we could add Terrelle Pryor though. Been wanting that to happen for months. Makes so much sense here.

I love that we got Ellington back. He's our insurance in the event that B. Miller doesn't continue to turn the corner. Having said that, I have enough faith in Miller to be able to take advantage of any teams' dime cb & he had a breakout game against the titans last year. Hopefully he can continue to ascend to be that x-factor guy.

Most likely they will be enjoying each others company in rehab.

Not sure if JJo's contract breakdown has been posted.

Texans veteran cornerback Johnathan Joseph's two-year contract is worth $10 million, according to a league source not authorized to speak publicly.

The deal includes $3.9 million guaranteed for the two-time Pro Bowl selection.

He has a $1.5 million roster bonus on March 18 and a fully guaranteed $2.4 million base salary this season.LINK

I’m pretty happy w that deal. If he has a big year we have the option to keep him another year before repeating this again. Good deal IMO.

Thanks for keeping track.

Can you believe the Texans still have over $46 million in cap space after all of these moves? :D

Yes I can since all they've signed is mid, lower level FA's.

Typical Texans, Uncle Bob needs his $$$$.
