2016 Roster Moves/Transactions

This is why I was kinda warning people that today is NOT the day that everything starts hopping. Wednesday will be. Today is just when the secret negotiations could begin in earnest.

good moves..so far. Want to see Brooks back

Mr. McNair, I'll see your $7 million........and raise you $5 million...............per year............

maybe Doc but that was Duane Brown LT money this season. Brooks could get that but doubtful to me.

Not sure where to put this but PFTR is reporting that the Tacks are trading for Murray. Putting Murray with Mariotta/Walker and drafting Tunsil to go with Lewan and Warmack looks like times are about to be changing in the AFC South.

Pretty sure the Vikings think Osmele can play OT. Not sure about the Raiders. Not good for us though.

Both teams think Osmele can play LT. The Vikings want him to play OG year 1 and then move to LT when Kalil becomes a FA. The Raiders want him to play OG but will move him to LT if they can't re-sign Donald Penn.

Well on a more important note, there is no one letting cat out of bag about signings. I am very impressed with the new NFL adjustment to keep that from happening.

You need to get something clear, just because you (fan) pay for everything does not mean you get any input into it...

No offense but that seems like an odd thing to say.
I'm fairly certain that virtually every fan understands that

I don't know about anybody else's feelings, but I think this is all kinds of screwed up. Just as soon as they get a semblance of an offensive line, they let it fall apart.

I hope they have a more than solid backup plan.

Based on the timing, I think you are seeing their primary plan unfold. Let's see how they address the interior line, which currently also has a hole at guard.

I agree not sure what they have in mind as far as Center goes, and brooks will be hitting free agency. This could get ugly on the oline.

I like Ben Jones and it seemed like he was a good personality/locker room guy but am I wrong in feeling like he is imminently replaceable? Especially if we have a new QB. I haven't gone over the tape with a fine-toothed comb or anything so if someone has a different opinion I'd be willing to listen.

The way this has played out, I think we're still on plan A. Doesn't seem like Jones or Brooks were in their plans.

Deepest draft for Centers in years. I guess it sucks that we HAVE to take one now but this is the year to do it.

I think Brooks is still in their plans but he's definitely smart to let the market dictate the terms of his contract. Hopefully we can keep him home.

Don't we have a couple other centers on the roster? Manz?

Jones was a league average player. No reason to pay him if a team like Tennessee is trying to lock him up long term.

This draft has a great Center class. We could land an immediate starter in the 3rd round.

Let's not kid ourselves. The O-Line is seriously about chemistry and continuity. They are a team within a team.

Ben Jones was getting better.

I'm just saying, I'm not necessarily calling foul right now; I'm simply a little leary about this move.

I'm leery as well because I think Smith has completely mismanaged the OL over the years (never brought in competition for Newton then extended him but let Brooks hit FA smh), but I'm just saying that Jones is an average player so if his contract comes out and it's not average money then I'm not sorry that we didn't match because that is a position that can be addressed in the draft (especially if we sign Lamar Miller; then we can use that 2nd/3rd on a C instead of a RB).

Exactly! Not to mention there are several better options via FA.

Wilfork will own him. He's weak.

Wasn't looking to create needs in free agency...only fill them. This loss isn't devastating but i wanted the continuity on the ol and it impedes our ability to address other needs. Im boycotting fudruckers for a week (i haven't eaten there in years) and now rooting against Benedict Jones.

I've never been sold on Jones. Not at G and not at C. I hoped he'd improve there and I guess he did but I can't imagine a scenario where we aren't able to find an upgrade over him.

I guess we needed to see if he was going to truly become a replacement for Myers but it seems like those results came back pretty quick and they amounted to "Nope".

All agreeable but spending a 2nd or 3rd round pick on a center means we're not spending it on a te, wr, rb, tackle, etc. Sorry it's all business i know, just didn't want to start free agency this way. Dude can take his bug eating barefoot field walking azz elsewhere.
