2016 Free Agents

As the Dolphins head into free agency, they’re prioritizing running backLamar Miller.

Adam Beasley of theMiami Herald reports that the Dolphins are more bullish on Miller than on fellow free agent to be Olivier Vernon, and the Dolphins “definitely” want Miller back in 2016.

But, of course, the question is whether the Dolphins will spend the money it takes. Beasley pegs Miller’s asking price at $5 million a year, which is a lot for a running back in today’s NFL. Last year, the only free agent running back who got more than $4 million a year was DeMarco Murray, who got a five-year, $40 million deal with the Eagles.

Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports that thingshaven’t moved any closer to a resolution on the long-term contract front and that the Jets plan to use their tag on Wilkerson.
While quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is also headed for free agency, the feeling is that the Jets can work out a longer deal with Fitzpatrick.

I've always liked Ronnie Hilman as a back. I think he would add alot to the team in terms of speed and versatility. He could be a primary or secondary back.

As the Falcons continue to remake their defense to fit the scheme implemented a year ago by coach Dan Quinn, the Falcons will be moving on from defensive lineman Paul Soliai.

Per a league source, the Falcons will release Soliai on or after March 9, the start of the new league year.

Eagles release veteran LB DeMeco Ryans, will save $3.5M

Didn't the Bills just release Mario Williams after four seasons as well? Bring both of them back. I miss Mario and DeMeco. LOL, I know it's not a fit though. But I remember when we leaned heavily on those two defensively.

Yeah let's so not do that

Can you imagine DeMarcus Ware, Von Miller and Mario getting after a QB? Wade just shuddered.
Assuming Mario would be willing to play a DE in a 3-4... if he would for a reasonable salary I wouldn't mind him as a replacement for Crick

Mario had sports hernia surgery while a Texan.....but has gone on to have hip surgery 2 years ago. Last year he began having nagging problems with his knee and calf and foot, contributing to a very significant production drop off.

Signing RGIII not expected to have any impact on what Cleveland does in draft. A QB still expected to be the pick.
Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet 53m53 minutes ago
The #Browns signed RGIII to a 2-year deal worth $15M, source said. He gets 6.75M guaranteed. Large investment.
Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet 47m47 minutes ago
This 2-year deal for @RGIII can be worth up to $22M. Which underscores what we knew: Josh McCown will be playing for another team in 2016
RGIII signing probably doesn't impact the #2 overall pick, but it may have an impact on whatever trade value Hoyer might have if Cleveland's shopping McCown at the same time.

I wouldn't be surprised one bit to see the Browns new analytics driven personnel department trade back from #2 and try to accumulate as many draft picks as possible in order to rebuild. They just let all of their own FA's walk in order to accumulate compensation picks for next year.

Any trade market that might exist for Hoyer is definitely damaged if McCown is being shopped.

With the potential state of the Browns' OL, the Browns better hang on to McCown. Because it is likely that RG goes down due to injury........or just as likely to total ineffectiveness. Even if Wentz gets picked (that pick would still be a pretty questionable move), the same goes for RG as a backup......they will still need a potentially effective backup.

I think they keep McCown as the 3rd QB in order to mentor the other 2. RGIII has a lot of learning to do and I'm not sure he starts over McCown at the start of the season

The Browns have drafted a lot of quarterbacks in the first round since returning to the NFL back in 1999. Seems like all they end up with is bust after bust.

Wouldn't the Browns be wise to "trade down" with their second overall pick? Are they seriously going to draft another first-round quarterback? When they now have two QBs on their roster who could start for them in 2016.

If the Browns want to draft a quarterback why not wait until the second or third round et the earliest? That guy is going to sit and learn for a year or two anyways.

They could use the second overall pick on another position of need, or if they trade down, they can target multiple needs with an extra pick or two.

For Carson Wentz's sake, I hope he doesn't go to Cleveland. His NFL career would likely become a disappointing one. Skip Bayless is calling the Browns the worst team in the NFL, and the worst team in the league over the past several seasons in a row, right now on ESPN2's First Take.

They've drafted a bunch of iffy at best QB prospects in the first. Quinn, Weeden, Manziel. They have a chance at grabbing a full on franchise type prospect this year. They'd be Cleveland to trade out of that chance. Especially given the opportunity to start a vet and let Wentz/Goff marinate for a minute.

And while I agree that the Browns are pitiful, you really oughta do yourself a favor and stop listening to Skip Bayless, or anything whatsoever on First Take. It's absolute garbage. It's the National Enquirer of sports media. Just a suggestion, man.

If Wentz is drafted by the Browns, I feel his career would be much better off if he simply refused to sign.

Nate Washington is officially a Pat.
That's a bit surprising. I thought the Patriots would take a chance on Andre Johnson having one more big year in him. Nate Washington is only two years younger than Andre. And I would argue, probably not any better with the team around him being equal. Tom Brady is aging himself but he will probably make an aging receiver still look good.

But Nate Washington, with the exception of his nice 2011 season, hasn't really been producing eye appealing stats during 9 out of his 10 seasons in the league.

A washed up Andre Johnson is better than a washed up Nate Washington, IMO. My reasoning is because Nate hasn't really been all that good during his career.

The one thing I'll say about Nate is that he's been targeted a lot throughout his career. You would think he would have a lot more receptions if you just look at the sheer volume of targets he has. Maybe Tom Brady will throw the perfect spiral right into his hands more often than not.

I would like to see Hue Jackson succeed as head coach for the Browns. He's been working hard for 15 years as an assistant coach or positions' coach in the NFL. I'm glad to see him getting his due.

But man, what a lousy situation to be in.
A franchise which is just miserable, sad and baddddddd.

The Browns make the Texans look like a successful franchise.

It seems like they fire their GM and head coach every so often. Just a couple years ago they were introducing a new head coach and general manager (2014). I can't even keep up with all of the names they hire and fire.

Now they brought in an a well known analytics guy from baseball, Paul DePodesta, who actor Jonah Hill famously played in the movie Moneyball. Thinking that will translate to wins on the football field.

If it works then the Browns look brilliant...

But if doesn't they're still the Browns for a reason.

If Carson Wentz becomes a Brown he'll be expected to be a savior for that entire franchise and city. People will expect him to be so much more than what he may be able to provide. That's a lot of pressure!!!!

I can understand how you can have success with analytics with baseball and basketball. But I don't think it has a chance in hell with football, maybe for the kickers, that's about it.

Crick signed by Broncos on 2 year deal.

Reggie Nelson to Raiders.
I heard this on the radio this morning. Crick had a very good season 2 yrs. ago but a disappointing one last year. I thought the Texans might re-sign him cheap to fill another hole pre-draft. We've got depth at DE, but I think it now becomes a draft priority.

Payback for the Osweiler Signing? Maybe a little?
