2005 draft

hot pickle

Canada Eh
ok i was thinking that the texans might be able to get cadilac williams in the draft what do you guys think?

I think your post will be moved to draft discussion-

Cadillac reminds me alot of a young Curtis Martin, therefore I would look for the Cowboys to take him with one of their first two picks (both ahead of Houston).

No doubt about that. As for a running back. I would wait. Henry will be available rom Buffalo, James from Indy, and backs are easier to find in later rounds. The Texans may want to start looking for a bigger physical corner to take Glenn's place. I love AG, but in the 3-4, you also need a corner who can defense the pass and make a hit or two. WAIT.....Don't say it. Robinson does. Also he's 5'10" 185lbs. I'm referring to a Woodson, McAllister, Ty Law size corner who can absorb the punishment over time. If a trade comes up to move in the draft, ROLL the dice on ROLLE. All the "U" does is produce stars, and he would bring an attitude this defense needs. Can you imagine the speed and athletes in our secondary? Coleman, Robinson, Earl, and Rolle.............................Dang Scary.........Dang Scary!!! :shocked

Antrel Rolle would be really good for the texans, but i don't know about travis henry, i don't think he would be much better than davis, so i think there best bet would getting a 2nd round draft RB

I think I want to see the Texans find a franchise back. That may not take place through the draft (as has already been mentioned free agents are out there with plenty of options available) and it may not happen this coming season either but I want to see it happen.

Maybe it's a lingering after effect of growing up watching Earl Campbell or something but I want to see a guy getting a hundred yards a week. I want to see a back who can keep a drive alive on the ground. I want to see someone roll over the defense and force them to stop him. Even when the Oilers were having their Warren Moon era success the lack of a real running game you could rely on week in and week out bothered me. It felt like they were missing some important ingredient.

Either this draft or the next one I want to see them address this running back problem. No more projects, no more journeymen. Get a real back and run his butt 20-30 times a game. Then Carr, AJ, Armstrong, and Gaffney will have their way with the secondary.

Parcells had the opportunity to draft any available RB from last year's draft with the 22nd pick and passed.

I doubt he reverses that logic and uses a top 10 pick to take a RB one year after taking Julius Jones.

CB, DE, DT, and WR are much more pressing needs (and more available talent at those positions) for Dallas.

Let's just say I hope you are completely wrong. ;)

two points, one being that Steven Jackson was not a Parcells type of back. Two is that Buffalo made him an offer that he could not refuse. Julius Jones may still be able to save his job for next year, he still has the rest of the season to prove himself & show what he can do (as does Henson).

But its hard for me to believe the Cowboys have such an overwhelming need for players when only last year they made the playoffs. They now have two number one picks, if like you stated many positions need upgraded it is certainly possible they trade down with a team & aquire more picks. Cadillac running style distinctly resembles Curtis Martin one of Bills favorites, seems to be a constant, if they pass on Cadillac that would be just another mistake that may come back to haunt Bill.

I don't see why Dallas would draft another RB in the first round they just got julius jones back yesterday on thanksgiving and he did pretty good with 150 yards. I'd also not rather see the Texans get another RB from another team, but get one in the draft who could grow up as a Texan.

how about this, i not sure where he is going to go, but what about taking a chance on frank gore. he has recovered very well and is having a good season so far. i know he had some major injury problems but if he is there at one of our third rounders why not take a gamble, same type of gamble that got us the pick in the first place.

After taking Hollings I don't think we would target someone that has had two major injuries.

I dont think that a RB would be our main concern this year, not that we couldnt use a better running game but I place more of the blame on the O-line than I do DD. DD is not doing anything different from his rookie year, the O-line isnt creating holes, I think we give DD a second chance.

Now that i think about it we, can't really blame our running problems ALL on DD. We have changed our blocking scheme and half the time DD recieves the ball hes got someone in his face. I dont know about yall, but i would imagine its pretty hard to pick up yards when the defense is in the backfield and you're just getting the handoff.

Well, lets address that problem.

1. S Georgia Davis
2. RB OK state Morency
3. Center LSU Ben Wilkerson. (knee injury. would be alot higher.)
3. Guard, Maryland C.J. Brooks

Before Suday we were the only team in the league without a 20 yard run from one of our backs.

I would be quite tickled with that draft. I like what Earl has done I just dont see the big play potential like Davis would give us.
