2 INT's but not bad decisions...

David Carr had an impressive first start showing his accuracy and mobility, but he did throw two interceptions. Although they were intercpetions, they weren't bad decisions. The first one was at the end of the half trying to score, and he had to throw off his back foot. It appeared to me that he was trying to throw it away but just couldn't get it far enough. The second one was just a bad deflection.

I was impressed the way they moved the ball. What are everyone's thoughts on Carr's performance and the Texans offense?

I ran throught he game again, after taping it and yes...you are right, I totally agree with you on those two plays. You can't have a 73.5% passing percentage and "not be accurate". Carr had a great first half and the offense MOVED the ball. Carr had decent protection, that did seem to lapse in the second half. He had to run out of the pocket way too many times and throw off his back foot as well. They have some work to do, but they have what it takes to put up some points. I can't believe that the second half was so lopsided...if we had played the second half like we did the first, we would have won the game. Carr had almost 200 yards passing before half, and then "someone" higher put the skids on it. You can't blame the team for executive decisions. No way. Carr had a great pre-season and will continue to show great progress. Hey, we started the last two years with a huge win and ended worse...now we are starting the year with a loss and I'm excited to see how we finish. Just lets all stay calm and no turn into Detroit fans! We are a class far above them and I like to see it stay that way. :boxing:

Carr was very impressive yesterday, receivers did an excellent job, I don't remember any of them dropping a pass, though I might be wrong, D Rob made rookie mistakes, Babin VERY impressive IMO, dropping LT twice behind the line. I am excited about this season. We have shown much improvement from last year. Only problem I see has nothing to do with the players, but the conservative play calling, especially in the second half.

carr did great. this is his year. i wanna see the deep ball more and just more red zone td's, however we get it. i wanna see carr throw more td's but i am confident and he is promising he will. he showed he's capable of moving the offense hitting 1st read, 2nd read and 3rd read recievers. that is great. it all starts there and with bly out the next game look for us to try to go deep with bradford or johnson, fernado bryant is pretty good............but i still think with our recievers we can and WILL win the passing matchup even though they are supposedly loaded at db's. man. theres things that bother me but not carr, not dd, they proved they are playmakers, not aj, not gaff, not jj, they all stepped up and we will see continual improvement and i WILL be on this board when we start winning. EVEN IF NO ONE REPLYS TO ANYTHING I SAY ON THIS BOARD. el tejano, do i have the right perspective of mind, as well as anyone else on this board?

A better perspective, and Carr will shine this year next week will be his first good game, and i expect Kansas city to be good since they have no defense

Carr is a good QB, he won't be a great one until he shows that he can win games. If you look at Tom Brady, you can see that he doesn't have the tools that makes a great QB, but he does make the right decisions. Montana was the same type...he didn't have a great arm but he made the right decisions. Once you start winning then you will get the respect of your team mates and they will go the extra yard for you. David needs to do that soon or he will end up like Tim Couch.

Carr is a much better QB than Couch will ever be, and we have more talent around Carr. This will be his year. TEXANS will BEAT the Lions. Capers will hopefully whip our defense into shape. Offense OK.

i hope your right man cause i was so sure we'd beat the chargers,,,,but we didn't ,,,,if we lose than we have a reason to worry.

Tim Couch had a better year as an expansion QB than Carr had (Palmer coached both of them). Carr has yet to throw more TD's than INT's. Couch threw more TD's than INT's his first year...as an expansion QB.

I'll still take Carr....but the denial around here is thick.

Everybody thought Tim Couch has all the tools just like we think of DC. If DC doesn't start winning games we will be asking for Bank to be put in. What I'm trying to say is having all tools is not what makes for a great QB. Jeff Goerge would have been the greatest QB ever if that was true.

I thought Carr played pretty well, he had great command with what the defense was showing him in the 1st half. In my opinion those 2 int's are worth bearing, and only 1 was costly. That int should have been avoided however if guys would have picked up the blitz and other guys just dancing around as the ball flew 25 feet in the air. David has had many int's like that throughout his career here with the Texans.
The second half was just sickening. It seems that we just do not do well in countering any adjustments that the other team makes. Is that Davids or Palmers or Capers fault? We went a little conservative in the 2nd half, especially the 4th quarter.

That's so true Vinny
There' s too much blind loyalty around here. Guys it's ok to expect more of your players. I think Carr needs to act like he has been there when he throws a TD. Once he does throw more TD's than INT's and light up the board like a christmas tree then he can run and pump his fists as much as he wants.
