How about hanging out to watch the game? The defense could have used some crowd noise in the fourth quarter. Leaving in the 3rd quarter? Pathetic. Let this be a lesson to never abandon your team!

Agreed Ill admit i left with 1:30 left but I stayed until then!! I mean we came back imagine if everyone was still at the game!

I always stay until the end, and games like this are exactly why. You never know when your going to witness something amazing.

Damn straight. Even if your team is getting blown out in the 4th quarter, you never leave.:texflag: Those people that left early are probably also the same ones who bit*h about ticket prices. As much as tickets cost, at least stay the whole game and get what you can for your dollar. :)

See that the thing. I think tix are VERY expensive and am lucky if i get to go to one game a year. When I do go, I get there early and stay till the last second for 2 reasons:
1. I am supporting my team through thick and thin.
2. The tix are so damn expensive it feels better on my wallet if the price is carried over 3 hours+ as opposed to 2.

I was there until 0:00. I will say this, for only 10-15,000 people there, it wa still pretty loud in the 4th qtr

You know what? I left when they went up 32-7, and I am not one bit sorry. Prior to today, I had left one game early - the Steelers game that was 120 degrees, and I left with about 5 mins left in the 4th quarter, long after everyone else on my end of the field was gone. Today was very close to the worst three quarters of football I have ever seen this team play, and I am glad I didn't stick around to have some false hope generated at the end. I have been a loyal, paying fan for the duration of this team, but I am getting real damn sick and tired of being fed this crap week in and week out.

I am absolutely non-apologetic for leaving early. It's only the second time I've done it, but hell, I would have had a better day doing laundry, or mowing the yard, or walking my cat or something. Jeez.

I know. I know. None of you guys left. Those empty seats and the 200 thousand people who say that they stayed until the bitter end were just an illusion.

Sorry for my skeptism when it comes to people saying that they stayed. Nobody seems to ever confess that they really left. I mean I understand that you guys want to leave early. I don't blame you. I pay to see the Texans win. I tune my TV to the Texans game to see us win. If we're getting our asses handed to us, you want me stay for moral support? Sorry but I don't want to coddle millionaires who take my money.

A hard fought battle only to lose it out in the end is where I'd take my beef with fans who leave early. We were getting blown out. I understand why they left.

After all that skeptism I just dished out... I myself swear on my life that I have never left a game early. I was 17 or 18 when I watched the Astros fell back by 11 or 12 runs in the first inning only to go on to score 15 and a victory at the Astrodome. I also witnessed the Burke shot in 2005. Anything can happen. Besides I want to make sure I get my money's worth out of those tickets. Whoever said about stretching your hour out is exactly how I feel about it.

I don't appreciate being called a liar. I was there, my heart was pounding out of my chest. I never leave early. I would never call you a liar on the board.

Same here. Nitro you blast those of us who said we stayed till the end, then you claim the same thing right afterwards. But you know what? I believe you.

Well, I can honestly say, I couldn't have done any more to help the Texans win today. I gave it my all and then some.

I'm actually developing a bruise on my hand from beating on the empty seat in front of me. :fans:

Lol. I didn't call you a liar. I presented skeptism which wasn't aimed at you directly but rather the fans in general. If you watch the rerun of the game, check out our group in the bullpen... I can't say with certainity how many people were there but it sure looked like the endzone sections was only about third full. That group is suppoosed to be our hardcore Texan fans. I know there were some people who stayed until the undying end but most did not. Eriadoc was pretty much the only person who came clean at the time. My point was that at least 300,000 people are going to claim to have been at that game and maybe 290,000 will also claim to have had their butts parked in their seats for the duration of the entire game. The stadium sits around 70,000. It's just people being people.

I pretty much try to maintain the truth even though the truth hurts sometimes. A lot of our fans left anyway you look at it.

I understand why this thread got posted, and with :57 seconds left in the game, those of us left in the stands were laughing at the people who left. They may be glad they missed that last bit of heartache, but I am glad I hung in there.

I am exhausted, we tried our best to make up for those who left. The fans who stayed made an incredible amount of noise. The acustics in Reliant must be great.

I guess the point I would like to make is: Please don't make sweeping generalizations about the fans. Each week after the game, I read a post criticizing the fans at the game. And granted, plenty of those attending the game deserve the criticism. But, there are also dedicated, knowledgable fans at the game who do not deserve to be called out.

I mean one guy said that he left with 1:30 remaining. I don't get that. We took the lead with :57 remaining. How does one leave after we recover an onside kick with a short drive downfield away from taking the lead after being down 29 points? Each to their own though. It's their ticket and they can do what they want with it.

Did it ever cross your mind that the people that spend time on a Texans message board may be more fanatical than people who don't? I don't find it unbelievable that many of the fans who post here state they were there to the end. I was there to the end ...but heck, if I go I'm not the kind of guy to leave a football game anyway.

It was an amazing finish and a crazy game....but there was some remarkably bad football for the bulk of the game. I was disgusted and started a huge chain of text messages in the 3rd quarter to many fans inside the stadium that included some here...some funny stuff, and some plain ol' disgust. This was a very bi-polar day.

Yep. I left early. Good thing we live in a place where I have a choice to burn my tickets if I want to. So after the cost of 3 tickets, parking, and watching until 3 minutes left in the 3rd - I left. I went out to the parking lot and drank MY beer and ate MY food. I wasn't spending another dime in there. Top it off with a sea of titan fans surrounding me in the BullPen. A big thanks to those Texans "fans" for selling your BullPen tickets to the opposing fans. I watched some more of the game outside, and departed.

As a season ticket holder, it was the 1st time I've ever left before the players have exited the field - not when time expires - I leave when the last Texan player is off the field. They didn't deserve my respect today. By the time I left, they had 2 first downs for the entire game. I'm not surprised the defense wasn't able to hold them. They were on the field for 20 minutes during the first half alone - two-thirds of the game. No amount of screaming - I did plenty of it - was going to make them any less tired.

I look at it this way: I didn't leave early - they drove me out.

Of course I did.

It's also the everyday fan who generally puts out disbelief in why people leave. We're not the season ticket holders. We don't have to come to the stadium 10 times a year and give up 3 hours of our time to stay parked in our seats as well as spend a fortune week in week out. We drool over those lucky season ticket holders and wish that we were in their place. When they leave, we'd be like... what thuh *bleep* and think to ourselves, 'If I had those tickets, I'd stay parked!' I guess what I'm basically trying to get at now is that season ticket holders begin to take their tickets for granted and non-season ticket holders take for granted the time and money that those season ticket holders have to put in week after week.

I'm not even mad at our fans for leaving. I was just trying to say that I understood why they did for this game. I give tons of props for those who stayed. It just wasn't very many of you guys is all.

Well, I will say that I talked to a few of you guys after the game and I told all of you that I was amazed at how big the cheer was when the Titans kicked the game winner...there was an enormous Titan presence at the end of the game...I was a bit shocked even though I could look around and see that most of the people who were leaving were Texans fans...you are right as far as that goes, but I think it's really not surprising a lot of people from here stay to the end. Most of us aren't casual fans. I understand why some left I guess...but I've seen too much football and seen too many days like today to leave. Now, if I was a Dolphin fan at the Pats game today...that may be another story. :specnatz:

Nah, just a sec. Yea, I think I know.

mow the lawn, walk the cat? terrible.

i was there, watched the game, stayed and got razzed. soo what? Does not matter if you are there to witness the play or yell at the play it will happen no matter what. If you decide to stay for the entire game, good for you. If you decide to leave in the middle of a pass play...dont spill your beer. I enjoy reading posts like this...so crap slingin and not sustinence

I was estimating I forgot exatly what time I left, I left after Sage threw the INT. because I thought that there was no way we could come back. I should have stayed that extra minute something or two. Why would you question what time I left, why would I lie about something as stupid as that.

Ummm. I wasn't questioning the timing itself but you did say that you left with 1:30 remaining. It sounded to me like you were saying it as if it was a matter of a fact rather than saying about 1:30. It struck me as strange that you would leave right after the onside kick which was at about the 1:30 mark. You were estimating which makes much more sense.

Again, I didn't accuse anyone of lying about anything. Come on, Texan Nation. It was merely a generalization.

LOL We don't take them for granted. You can't possibly take something you spend over a thousand dollars a year on (not to mention the cost of the PSLs) for granted. At least, not in my house!

We left early. 84 was in a FOUL mood after that last interception and I felt it was best to get his ass out of there. We gave our hugs and kisses and hiked our happy asses to the parking lot. Got to see the comeback on TV at the RV next to us, and actually had the best time of the whole day. Once Kerry Collins got them in field goal range, our best friend (a Titans fan) ran around like a smarty-pants. Smacked his head straight into a metal rod holding the awning over the side of the RV.

The Titans may have won the game, but the Texans fans that saw that sure won the battle.

I stayed and missed the kickoff of my beloved Cowboys and given the heart that the Texans played and the big comeback, I don't regret it. Even though the attendance was down to about 10 or so thousand, those left beatthe backs of the empty seats loud enough to create enough noise to make up the those who left. Thank goodness for a Plan B.

I left the Bullpen with 3min left in the third quarter with the intention of heading OUT of Reliant. I just couldn't take the Titan fans in my section any longer. I felt it best, since I want to be a respectful Texan, to leave rather than spout my mouth off. Some of the worst fans from an opposing team I have ever seen at Reliant. Simply terrible!!!!!

I wandered around Reliant, but couldn't make myself leave. Thanks to the thousands who vacated their seats during the third quarter, I found a seat on the 40 yd line and finished watching the game from there. I learned a long time ago to never give up on your team. They might disappoint you, but, they also just might make you proud.

Anticipation levels were very high for this game, and lets be honest, our boys let us down. They waited until the 4th quarter to play like a pro-football team. Well, you know what?! That's just to damn late!!! I don't fault the fans who left early. To each his own! For me, I just couldn't do it, even though I didn't feel our boys deserved our support at all. They knew this game was important to the fans, and they screwed up 3/4 of the game. They want fans to stay until the last second ticks off the clock, then give us something to be proud of. They have yet to do that. JMO!!

I don't understand how we can lose with under a minute left after that spectacular TD that put us up 36-35. I mean, all we had to do was hold on for about a minute more. I'm beginning to think that the outcome of these games are planned well in advance (just like trial outcomes.)

I know, ugghhhh! Someone said it's a like a girl who dates you, dumps you right before "relations," gets back with you, then dumps you again at the same point.

I WISH more people had stayed, but by no means do I blame anyone who left because of the team's performance. had it not been for my fiance' and future in-laws, I would have been in the parking lot.

I hate the outcome, but as the saying goes, it aint over until it's over. Unfortunately, which such a little time left and it's a do or die situation, sometimes heroics determine the outcome.

even though it was an amazing comeback I can understand folks leaving....I mean there's only so much you can take........

Of course I did.

There's no way I could take for granted the cash expenditure I lay out on the Texans every year. After this long, though, I am getting sick and damn tired of putting up cash, lots of it, every year, to get this garbage on the field. I am absolutely unapologetic, and if some people want to judge me for that, they can go to hell. I have been a rabid, loyal, and PAYING fan for all these years, and this damn team has done very little to continue earning my money.

For those of you who have been to every game, sat through the stinkers year in and year out, and still managed to sit through this one to the end - I salute you. For those of you who have not spent that money and had the added frustration of not getting your money's worth, you can take your judgments and put 'em you know where.

That was the hardest three quarters to watch at Reliant for me in six years. The only reason I stayed was to see if the team would quit. They did not and I am glad I was one of the few who did not quit on the them. Reliant is much louder with ten thousand fanatics left, down by 28, than seventy thousand football observers and critics. One fan, banging the back of a seat can stir up some noise.

I went up to the BullPen Pub at half time and stayed there till the end of the 3rd quarter. I wanted to leave but couldn't bring myself to do it. So I grudgingly went back to my seat in the Bull Pen just before the start of the 4th quarter only to see that a lot of the people who were around me for the first half had changed to different people. I guess a lot of people moved down to vacated seats. I stood there in amazement as our team made its come back. I made prayers and promises to myself. I felt the euphoria around me when we took the lead and was slappping hands with people I didn't know and then with 2 seconds left I was shot in the mouth. I will NEVER root for a team but the Texans unless they pull a Bud Adams and leave, but to insinuate that the fans could have have made a difference is assinine. I didn't lose this game. A bunch of wannabe NFL players lost this game. If fan support could make more than an ounce of difference we would have had more than 50 yards of offense during the first 3 quarters of the game before the fans left and the crowd was trying hard not to let the team down. I didn't let the team down. They let me down.
There was not nearly as many Titans or VY jerseys as I expected to see around Reliant yesterday and I was suprised how loud us Texan fans were in the fourth quarter. I didn't leave, but with the @ $10,000 I have spent on tickets alone I deserve better. I don't blaim anyone who has been through what I have been through for leaving. If the team doesn't like it they should learn how to win a game. Our overall record as a franchise puts us with the worse teams in NFL history. They should give those of us that have had season tickets since the begining a freaking prize (and not a sour apple sucker). When I get another leather binder with my season tickets next season I might mail it back and tell them it aint enough anymore.

:fans:

I have only left one game early.. The game was out of hand and the Astros were in the middle of what turned out to be an 18 inning play-off game - when Chris Burke hit the game winning HR..

Couldn't have been stated better TxDavid.. They DROVE us out as well. We went out to "the van" flipped the plasma on and watched a good come back and I don't regret it at all. There is no point sitting in there packed in our seats like fools watching that crap. This is the first game I have ever left and yeah I regret it a little, but the regret is more of allowing them to fool me into thinking this is a good team. All the other years I knew we were growing and will have a lot of hard times, towards the end it got hard because of Carr but I stuck with it because we got a new coach.. but to see Carr back on the field today flutter as all get out was just too much.. It was time to leave. It sucks that this organization has left me in this depressed confused state, not knowing what to do... do I go to the next game or sell my tickets to a Texan fan that wants to go and try to get some of my money back, do i even tailgate?

And it was pretty sad to look across the field (I'm in 138) and see Tack jerseys filling up our bullpen. That is crap and the people that did that are worthless fans, don't buy bullpen tickets and then sell them to the opposing team. Y'all SUCK>

If you are a fan, you will be there. If you are a tailgater, you will tailgate.

I don't understand the confusion.

By the way, standing in the Bull Pen while we were driving down the field towards your endzone, I saw (and faintly heard) your fans yelling and screaming. I know it is exciting but SHUT-the-blank up when the offense is on the field!

i was there. DB, and a couple of others can attest to that. I stayed for the first 3 quarters. I stayed for most of the 4th quarter. David Anderson fumbled a punt. I stayed.

But when Sage threw that last interception with about 3-4 minutes left, with us down by 10, i literally got my heart ripped out. I felt terrible. My girlfriend looked at me, it was her very first ever nfl game, and said...."lets go, you don't need this". I carry the texans wins and losses on my sleeve. It effects my mood. Yeah, I left. I've never left any sporting event early in my life. But i don't think i've ever felt lower then i did when he threw that pick. Screw it, I left. Was it a mistake? Who knows.

Same identical situation with me. I looked at Lauren and said "that's enough", said our goodbye's to everyone around us and walked out.

This was exactly how I felt and how things played out for me as well. After that INT (6th turnover) I couldn't take it anymore and left. The Texans seemed as though they were doing everything they could to give that game away, and I couldn't bear to watch any longer.

I look at it this way: I didn't leave early - they drove me out.

Now that is funny!:laughjump:

I left early for the first time also and met eriadoc on the way out. Good guy and passionate fan for sure. I drive a long way to come to the games and I never leave. Yesterday was the exception and I don't regret it either. That was an absolutely awful display of football for 3 quarters. Your claim to fame for staying was you got to see the Texans blow a miracle comeback.

That is like an Oilers fan saying he is glad he flew to Buffalo and watched that friggin meltdown.

We have NEVER left until 0:00 since 2002, and that includes a really pathetic 2-14 season.

I paid for a full game, and damnit, I will get a full game even we we're getting our butts handed to us!!

And I could give a rat's ass what any other fan thinks. I know where I was at, and if people left early, IT'S A FREE COUNTRY!!!!!!!

Now that is funny!:laughjump:

I left early for the first time also and met eriadoc on the way out. Good guy and passionate fan for sure. I drive a long way to come to the games and I never leave. Was good to meet you! Too bad your trip up from CC was met with a game like that, but better luck next time, right?

Thank you.

I'm glad we get a break next week cause it will take that long to get any of my voice back!

I stayed. . .on the rail. . . .and screaming my ever loving lungs out (literally)
then I cried!:wild:

Bingo - the fans that visit this board are usually more interested/passionate about the team. That is not a criticism to those that don't, but I think the likelihood is that most of us would stay at a game longer than the average attendee.

Yeah, my wife was going back and forth down to where you were and were me and Terry were sitting. We stayed until the very bloody end right there with you. And it was pretty darn loud to be so few people in the stands.

I am still hoarse as well. It was really fun celebrating the come back, we were all hysterical. It was so worth it.
