Today we salute you, Mr. 12-7 Aggie fan

Good natured ribbing is one thing but good god.... and what's always been curious to me is that some of the most venemous hate is spewed by people who didn't attend either school. I've got Ags and 'horns in my family and both are obviously great schools.

I've been attending games in Austin and CS since the mid-70's and even though I have had the distinct pleasure of seeing the coach that the stadium is named for patrol the sidelines, and #20 and #10 play at that stadium, I still have to say that over the years, I've enjoyed my overall experience at Kyle Field the most.

My first game at DKR was in '75 or '76. I think it was his last year to coach and Earl was a freshman or sophomore. The late 80's - early 90's were the best at CS but I do remember the Jackie Sherril and Emory Bellard coached teams in the mid-70's. I also had the 'pleasure' of attending the game when the SMU cheerleaders made that famous mistake. Was that 1980? That was the Dicker-James backfield I'm pretty sure.. For some reason, I always remember an A&M - Arkansas game in the late 70's, (Jacob Green's team) mainly because of Lou Holtz' constant pacing on the sidelines between the 40's.

I do not share your historical experience, but share your sentiment 100%. I am a Longhorn fan who did not attend UT, but born in Austin, and wound up marrying an Ag. I would much rather tailgate and watch a game at Kyle than DKR.

My sister went to TU. After a few years in the military I went to A&M... I did not finish there, (thus my SHSU and UH love)....

Anyway, a 'sip for a sister doesnt get any worse....

But then again, I would die to protect her... so go figure.

I think a good part of that is which side of the political spectrum you stand on i suppose. Though i do admit for the most part A&M as a whole has a massive inferiority complex.

I was not born in Texas, but I did finish high school here. The only reason I decided to go to A&M was because of my girlfriend. At that point less than two years ago, I didn't care about either of the schools.

Obviously, a lot has changed since that time. My experience at A&M has been life changing. Going to a game in Kyle and feeling the spirit of Aggieland throughout the whole stadium was unforgettable. I have fallen in love with the school, the rivalry, and the traditions. Everything means so much to me now. I can't wait to go back in a few weeks.

You can say whatever you want about A&M, I don't mind. I don't mind because I know that you don't know what it feels like. You have no idea what it means to be an Aggie. I feel sorry for those who can never feel it, and encourage those who have the chance to do so. Just being here for one year is an amazing experience.

I'm a Longhorn fan, and I encourage all Ags to celebrate that victory loud and proud...
As a Texans fan, I certainly know what it's like to revel in a victory over a hated rival...

We Texans fans certainly drove 19-10 into the ground... you could say that victory over the cowgirls was the only really meaningful victory we've had... there are some similarities between that victory and 12-7... one significant difference, however, is that the Horns don't have to wait four years to put right the world...

Thank you for pointing this out. This is by far the most intelligent response I have seen in this thread yet.

Why are we not allowed to feel good about beating the horns? As Texans fans, you guys know what it feels like to lose. I know that you guys can at least understand what that game meant to a team that has struggled.

Can it not be compared to beating the Colts? I will never forget that game, when I saw our Texans defeat the Super Bowl Colts. I love the Texans and I will always think about what it meant to finally beat Peyton.

As an Aggie, I will be proud of our squad for taking out the Longhorns. I will be proud that we beat them. We beat the teasips in Austin. We held them to the fewest points of their entire season (OSU as well). I can be proud of that, no matter what you say.

Thanks and Gig'em!

But there is a Spirit can ne'er be told
It's the Spirit of Aggieland

I wonder if you negatively repped everyone in this thread that said something bad about Tx A&M. Keep up that Aggie Pride and those blinders on.

I negatively repped you because you have no tact whatsoever. I did not negatively rep anyone else. Your comments are malicious in nature, whereas Kaiser Toro did not display that same tastelessness, nor did anyone else.

Long story short? You deserved it.

3 women go to Mexico to celebrate their graduation. The women have such a good time that they wake up in jail, awaiting execution.

When asked if they had any last words:
The first girl, a red-head said, “I just graduated from Trinity Bible College and we are taught to forgive people for their sins”. The executioner went to flip the switch on the electric chair, but it failed. Thinking this was a sign from God, the executioner and officers fell to their knees, prayed for forgiveness and released the girl.

The second girl, a brunette was asked if she had any final words. She replied that she “had just graduated from Harvard Law School and that her undying love was for Lady Justice and the Law”. The executioner went to flip the switch on the electric chair, and it again the electric chair failed. And again the executioner and guards fell to their knees.

The last girl (you guessed it) a blonde, stated that she had “just graduated from the University of Texas as an electrical engineer, and that if they just plugged the damn thing in – it would work”. The executioner……….

If you want to study engineering, go to A&M. If you want to study Business, good luck trying to get into the McComb's school...

I am with you on the emboldened words TL13. It felt really good for Texas to just kick the snot out of OU after years of us being their b*tch.

I am sure it felt good to beat the Longhorns, especially in Austin, but just keep it in perspective. Freshman QB and a hurt one at that.

The corner hasn't been turned in Aggieland but it was a positive step in the Fran era, but that just means more Fran. Is that a good thing?

Actually, what I'm hearing from most of the Ag fans is quite different: concern about whether Franchione can finally 'get it done' this year. Many still aren't sold on the guy and while there's optimism about the team this year it's still guarded. Why wouldn't it be?

And yes, they think they should beat Texas at CS this year. Why shouldn't they think that - home game and all? After a few relatively weaker opponents to begin they have a difficult road schedule ... at Miami, at OU, at Tech, at Nebraska, at Mizzou... OSU at home will be tough.

If they win the South this year, they will have to earn it. I don't think they will, but I think they will be very competitive...

Those maroon 12 7 inspection stickers expire in December so they will need to do something good by then to carry over into 08.

Their '08 recruit list doen't look too bad at the moment. Ranked 13th by rivals.

So where are they playing the game this year ? Whipping the horns up into a frenzie is not a wise policy. Swatting them in the nose for twelve months with the 12-7 spin is going to bomb them. And when you guys come crawling out of that smoldering crater just remeber how much fun you had in '07.

Fran should of been gone two seasons ago. The guy can not recruit. Cy Fair is now in Ann Arbor. The guy the Ags need to slay the T.U. dragon just moved to Denton. I have every confidence that befor they realize this the guy will be long gone and under contract at a true contender. halabalue kanuck Kanuck.

I used to like some of you posters.......and now I find out you are Aggie fans. :whip:

:jk: .... well sort of.

But seriously, I don't really hate on other Texas teams....except for one weekend a year in November.

Hook 'em Baby!

I don't see how any of my comments were malicious in nature. As opposed to (no offense to him) Second Honeymoon's comments or Fiddy's posted piece of Jim Rome blasting A&M.

Typical aggie though. Your school song is a Texas hate song. The sticker logos you drive with around brandish sawed off a longhorn rack or howdy Damnit. I constantly have to deal with my aggie friends as a UT fan references to the homosexual population in the Austin area. Above and beyond everything your signature you have your lil 12-7 victory and you want to tell me about aggie tact? Get real.

Seems to me that the Horn fans should let this thread die away without anymore ugliness before it is brought up that yet ANOTHER longwhorn player has been arrested....ooops, it slipped out!

What's that make now....7 since January? Mack must be going after the record up there. Before you get riled up and take it out on me, take a look at what your fellow orangebloods are saying about this debacle. :)

wow, you added a letter and it became a funny play on words. maybe I can try. lemme see. Faggie. Its like Kindergarten all over again.

as for the offseason plethora of police blotter and failing grades, it is getting old. This last incident is the worst for me. Being involved in a robbery by gunpoint for GAMING EQUIPMENT!!! That is pretty damn pathetic imho.

Mack has done a great job in Austin in respect to accountability and discipline but this offseason he may have to get tougher and stop recruiting some of these wannabe wanksta gangstas and let the Miami's and Ohio State's of the world continue to recruit them.

They play in CS, like I said in the post you quoted.

Why are you quoting me and throwing out this "you guys" stuff. I'm not an Aggie or an eX.

I did say that I prefer going to games off Wellborn Rd. - and it's pretty well documented who I wanted the Texans to draft in '06.

"getting old"? I think that boat has sailed Honeymoon. This has been a recurring issue since shortly after Mack arrived in Austin.

Dec 2005: Myron Hardy packing illegal heat.
May 2006: Ramonce Taylor-felony possession of marijuana
Sept 2006: T. Brown, T. Gatewood and A.Harris arrested for drug and weapon charges.
Feb 2007: Ahmard Howard and Brandon Collins arrested for drug possession.
June 2007: Henry Melton arrested for DWI.
June 2007: Robert Joseph burglary of a vehicle
July 2007: Robert Joseph, steps it up with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, a first-degree felony charge.
July 2007: Sergio Kindle DWI.
August 2007: 'Dre Jones rolls in with aggravated robbery of 14 year old for an X-Box! It's in the game!

they have had too many problems of late. what do you want me to say? fire mack? stop recruiting from bad parts of town where they been more exposed to this type of inexcusable behavior? had any of these guys been in trouble in High School? I don't know the answers to the questions but at the end of the day it doesnt matter. Things need to be fixed there and it does start up top. Mack needs to probably lose the 'fair but stern' routine he has been using and he needs to get tough. If Brown would have been kicked off the team in 2006 before the OSU game, would the other incidents been prevented? it's quite possible. He gets negative marks for not getting tough soon enough.

Kids getting drunk and smoking grass isn't that much different from the average university student but when you start saying words like 'robbery' and 'at gunpoint' and 'for video games', and not just isolated incidents by a bad apple but by multiple student-athletes and for similar behavior....and I dont buy the excuse that Austin is a major city and the kids are exposed to more stuff than the average college town. It (the big city excuse) probably doesn't help but suspending a few guys from the team could send a message to prevent this trend....things need to change and fast.

Mack also needs to realize that he owes it to the institution to keep up its image as a football program that does it the right way. this type of stuff is for the OU's, OSU's, and Miamis of the world. It doesn't belong in Austin, College Station, or anywhere. Student athletes with guns is just very chilling especially when you consider the recent tragic events at Virginia Tech. Guns are bad. Period. I said it. It needs to be removed like a cancer.

I am one of the most open-minded people on this message board. I'm not trying to be funny here, I am dead serious. If you knew me as a person, you would know that I am not narrow-minded at all. It doesn't always appear that way on the message board, but then again, an internet forum personality is not a good measure of a persons true self.

No matter what I say, you will have something negative to say to me. For all your talk about how Aggie's don't do anything but hate, you seem to have nothing but hatred for me. As an Aggie who is trying to stand the middle ground, I feel somewhat upset by the fact that we are getting such a bad rap whenever Longhorn fans are equally malicious.

In the end, I can't change the way you think, and that's not my intention. I don't lose any sleep over the fact that you are who you are. Sometimes I just wish people would be a little bit less hypocritical.

P.S. - I think you have misunderstood the term "Howdy, Dammit". It has absolutely nothing to do with Texas. If you would like a better explanation, feel free to ask.

I'm seeing a pattern myself and I can't say that I'm real fond of it either. Mack Brown's got a reputation for passing over bad character guys at the expense of taking dominant blue-chip prospects.

Now, it'll be a little easier for other Big 12 coaches to play the character card when recruiting prospects. I'm hoping that Hoth-Boy was right further up the thread about it being a bad offseason, but I think that these incidents from this offseason points to a bigger problem with the sport in general.

Once again I'll reinterate I don't beleive I posted anything specifically malicious especially towards yourself. If you want to play the victim fine. But there's nothing to be a victim about.

In reference to the PS i know it has nothing to do with UT. I was simply pointing out how ironic,as least with the general aggie population, how aggies act they shouldn't tell other people about tact and be suprised at any degree of animosity.

As a young Aggie, I am a victim to every negative comment made towards A&M. Maybe someday I will be able to overlook them, and maybe even join in on the joke-making. As for right now, an attack on TAMU is an attack on me.

I understand your argument against the Saw'ed Off stuff, but I still don't think Howdy, Dammit can be used in your discussion of tact. It just has nothing to do with it. But I guess it really doesn't matter.

Like I said, I understand what you are saying, but there is nothing I can do. You will see things through your eyes and no one else's.

Looking at these:

Wanted to give you more rep but couldn't. This will get forwarded.

I think after the beating Cal gave them on National TV A&M should be laying low as possible and hoping McGee learns to throw a football next year.Fran is going to handicap that kid at 25 with the shots i've seen him take.

Of course my favorite A&M memory is the day after a game in Norman, Oklahoma I got to take a paper to my boss(an A&M grad) reading 77-0.I didn't have to say anything. I just smiled.

yeah like measuring your chances of winning by an outhouse falling is way better and my favorite...gig 'em.

I think a good part of that is which side of the political spectrum you stand on i suppose. Though i do admit for the most part A&M as a whole has a massive inferiority complex.

These are my post prior to your insinuations of malicious commentary slandering Tx A&M. I don't think i really need add anything. You're making yourself look pretty bad.

I go on vacation, and you two are still duking it out....guns at 10 paces, tis the only solution that will allow the rest of us to enjoy our Texans in peace :)

You know a buddy of mine went to A&M for college. Know how he dealt with all the Aggie jokes? He went to UT for Grad school!

These are my post prior to your insinuations of malicious commentary slandering Tx A&M. I don't think i really need add anything. You're making yourself look pretty bad.

I did not insinuate anything. You have made your position perfectly clear. You've worn your intentions on your sleeves for the duration of this quarrel.

It is only inside your head that I look even remotely bad in this situation. You have taken every chance possible to insult my institution, but I have yet to say anything negative about Texas.

I suggest you abstain from argument in this thread, lest it destroy you.

Some may boast of prowess bold
Of the school they think so grand
But there is a Spirit can ne'er be told
It's the Spirit of Aggieland
We are the Aggies - the Aggies are we
True to each other as Aggies can be
We've got to fight boys, we've got to fight
We've got to fight for Maroon and White
After they've boosted all the rest
Then they will come and join the best
For we are the Aggies, the Aggies so [true]
We are from Texas A.M.[U.]

I prefer the old version, with Texas A.M.C instead of A.M.U. I think it just sounds that much cooler.

having spent a great deal of time on both campus's. Visiting friends, going to football games, etc. etc. what have you. (Yeah, I've gone to yell practice, and yeah, I've done all the traditions), and I have to say that as a comparison, people at College Station were by and large pricks, where as Austin was a nice, laid back atmosphere. You A & M people are so damn picky about your hats and your grass. In my opinion, you bring a lot of the jokes and attacks on yourselves. Lighten up dudes, live life.

You are speaking of one experience in which you were asked, out of respect for Aggies who have passed on, to remove your hat in the MSC. It is meant to show respect. We have discussed this before. Would you call someone a prick if they asked you to remove your hat during the National Anthem?

SWT, I know you. I know that you are full of generalizations. Let this one go.

several trips. Just stating my opinion of the people there. Not calling every aggie one, but generally speaking, i stand by my statement. Come on down to texas state sometime. When the kid jumped off the waterfall and drowned, we didn't build a monument...we just point and say, hey look, thats where that moron jumped off joe's crab shack and drowned.

I may have missed the moral of this story, but I really hope that you are not indirectly referring to the Bonfire.

Interesting. Posting random links to the dictionary now. You have no argument against me. Keep it up.
