Game 5 Thread: Texans @ Cowboys

For years people have been saying Carr would be great if he had pass protection. Well he has it, what now? Two Pro-Bowl WR's, an NFL quality TE, and good pass blocking.

Let the Carr debate continue....(FTR I could care less either way, give me a game manager (not a superstar) QB and a dominate run game and I'll be happy)

Give me a QB that other players, when they look at him, they beleive in him....Carr is not that QB at all.

another thing that's sad... almost a full quarter to go, 11:30... and there is no fire or optimism on the Texans sidelines

Sadly I think the team does not respond well with Carr...either way if he is playing well or not I don't think his teamates will play well enough with him for us to be a playoff team. He just doesn't seem to have any leadership skills.

I don't concur. I don't think there's much talent in the running game to respond to him. Dayne and Gado? I'll take Morency and Lundy over that any day of the week, and that's saying something.

If we could convert 3rd and 1 on the ground every once in a while, maybe we can pretend that we have NFL-caliber players back there.

This game is a great example of our team being a work in progress. Last year thi sgame would have been over in the first, this year we're good for 3 Q.'s. It's going to take time people.

Dayne and Gado or Morency and Lundy? Ugh. Where's the "other" choice? Put Chris Taylor in there. I promise he can't do worse than our guys today.

question 1 for Kubiak's and Carr's radio show - how come the team comes out blazing early in games then makes a few mistakes and all the fire goes out of them?

Well we weren't good at any point in the game. Both teams played average the first half, we just happened to play a bit better. The 2nd half, the Cowboys were good. We were not-good to put it lightly.

Funny thing is.. they game wasnt bad going into the third.Third q was a killer

Yes but you could see it coming all through the first half IMO. It wasn't a question in my mind of IF the Texans were going to do this. It was just a question of WHEN they did it. When Buchanon gave them a short field and they did squat with it that was a sign that the Texans had pretty much fired their shot for the day.

When they had a chance to jump on the Cowboys near the end of the first quarter and chose to punt instead of getting the one foot they needed to keep the drive alive that told me what they thought of their chances today. Many will say that was the wise thing to do. Yeah that's fine. The guy who did go for it (and who didn't get it I might add) kept plugging away and his team is kicking our butts. Kubiaks primary focus is just trying to hide the warts this season. He'll add some more of "his guys" next off-season and either show us results in 2007 or the fans will turn on him something awful.

Stupidest statement of the day.

I have been the BIGGEST critic of Carr on this board newbie. I have been down on his the last four years.. This year, with better coaches, he has shown much better poise in the pocket, better accuracy, and ball placement..

No newbie here, been to every game in Houston since game 1, year 1 and I sit right on the front row so I see first hand just how weak Carr is on the field and on the sideline. I just don't live here, but hey if that makes you feel better to believe then so be it. We have no running game yet drafted a defensive player who had one good HALF of a season in college? Yea, who needed Reggie Bush, heh.

It's a lack of mental toughness that has been instilled since day one. Right now it looks like a team of cowards.

Reggie Bush wouldn't be able to do squat running the ball this year either. We need a true running back.

That bugs the crap out of me, big time on the radio callers...

"Ya Im a season ticket holder since day one so I know everything..."
