AFC Divisional Playoff Round; Houston Texans vs Kansas City Chiefs - Game Thread

Both of their fan bases deserve it more than just about any other team. The Lions have given their fans very little to cheer for over the years and the Bills fans had the sting of losing four straight Super Bowls.
At least the Bills fan got to see their team in the super bowl multiple times. What about the Houston fanbase. First the oilers and now the Texans and not even one combined appearance. We deserve it much more.

I finally have time to be able to address the game.

4 things. Number 1: Fire Strausser and Slowik, done with yall. Number 2: Get a new oline, 8 sacks is ridiculous and 2nd most sacked in the league is embarrassing. Number 3: Get C.J. some receivers (Garrett Wilson). Number 4: **** the refs, **** Kermit, **** Taylor Swift, and **** the chiefs.

Cannot tell yall how furious i am watching the refs slurp the shi out of them. Makes this game so unfun to watch and makes me just not want to support the NFL. But i’ll get over it and move on lmao.

Somewhat fun season and looking forward to next year. Go Texans!

Coached better for sure. Slowik ignored problems all season and forced his scheme. Asked a lazy dalton schultz to block a dl/lb. Ppl talk about stroud body language but schultz displayed poor behavior all season long
Schultz is garbage and need to go away
He is allergic to actually blocking a mofo… I’m a whiskey drinker cigar smoker and old AF and I could give better effort than that dude in the blocking game

Why would he continue to block a DE with a TE, especially a TE that everybody knows can't block
Exactly. This is a great example of the problems with the 2024 offense and something they have to self-scout and address during the offseason. Too often, they continued to do things that didn't work and kept expecting a different result. Too often they were too slow to adjust. At times, it felt like they didn't understand their personnel.

I don’t recall Kelce blocking either Hunter or Anderson heads up.

Eventually you will figure out what the NFL is all about.

Schultz sucks.

Luckily this is a good TE class.

If you noticed, Smith made a great block on Mixon's TD run. When has Schultz ever blocked like this? Gotta add a vet TE that can block this off-season in addition to drafting one or two.

What would you suggest Slowik do? On one of the sacks George K beat both Schultz and O on one of his sacks? This team needs an influx of new talent.

At some point it comes down to talent.

Maybe if Schultz was at least competent at blocking the TE or Howard would've learned that you always pickup the man that's rushing closest from the inside, some of these issues would sort themselves out.
or maybe Slowick would have realized these players were not capble of blocking these plays and actually adjusted plays and protections accordingly, after like all season knowing!

That's all great and everything, but when you ask both Schultz and O to both block an edge and they cant do it, what's an OC supposed to do?

Dare nor Pierce should be big part of 3rd down personel. You and I have posted about team speed and X factor types. 99% of the the time Dare is in the game it's a pass play. No matter if it's a 3rd and 3, 4,or 5. If a guy sitting on his couch eating crunch and munch, I'm sure a DC making millions can see it. They're still a slow offense. Schultz and Dare not blocking that defensive end is diabolical.

Agreed on schultz, jeez i had hopes in him/stover

Find me a T.E in the coming draft steelb.
I want Fannin depending on how does at the combine and add a vet TE like Saubert in FA. The reason why is Fannin can play in the slot and be an OD level bloking TE. He's a weapon. If you want a more traditional TE then Loveland should be the guy at 1-25. I can guarantee you he wouldn't look like Schultz did today trying to block George K. Would you rather get a guy like Trey Harris or Savion Williams at 1-25 and Fannin at 2-57. Or Loveland at 1-25 and a guy like Golden at 2-57?

Nah, I got zero respect for them.

I actually like(d) the team for the most part especially Mahomes and ANDY Reid except Kelce for the last few years but nah after today's display absolutely done with that. **** them. No respect. They skate to every win. Their best player flops like a ***** with fake slides and going out of bounds. They get bullshit penalty after bullshit penalty to extend drives when they have no business to.

Zero respect.

This is how a team becomes hated. Not because they're "good."

Hope they face Buffalo and get #metoo'd because if Baltimore plays them, I could only hope the stadium caves in.
Mahomes “greatness” depends mightily on the refs giving him calls no other QBs get.

Will the Bills or Ravens have to deal with the Refs next week? I am banking on it. Nothing will stop the Chiefs from making history!
I somewhat contradicted myself. The refs will try to take over the game but both the Bills and the Ravens have better teams than our Texans have, The refs won't be able to save the Chiefs. The Bills or Ravens when all or mostly heathy are better teams and are better equipped to beat the them. History won't be made by the Chiefs this go round.

Not ask them to do that. That’s been going on all season long. How about going max protection there and bring in another lineman.
When 2 men cant block one man, it's time to find two new men. If you condense the formation, you're inviting even more blitzing and with the Texans struggling to pickup the blitz that's a terrible idea IMHO.

They will have to be much better to beat the Refs and the Chiefs.
