2023 Schedule

Speedy

This whole build up to the schedule release is the strangest damn phenomenon in sports. Do we really need 3-4 hour programming on schedules? Post the damn things at 9 am and be done with it. But whatevs. Still gotta wait til 7 tonight.

That said, according to Twitterverse, the week 1 slate is said to be confirmed and the Texans will open in Baltimore.

Unconfirmed, @Jacksonville week 3, Pittsburgh at home in week 4, and the CJ/Bryce Bowl in week 8.

Already Speedy. What’s crazy they’re already leaking out some of the darn scheduled games. Like on Nov 20 the Chiefs vs Eagles.

Texans have never won in Baltimore.

Shock the World!
Normally I would say, nothing that happens in the NFL shocks me anymore. The Texans will either have a rookie quarterback making his first start ever in the NFL or Davis Mills starting. I would be shocked if the Texans won week 1 in Baltimore.

I'd be more shocked if Davis Mills were to start. I just don't think this staff considers Mills a WR, as the previous staff did.

Hmm...all the regular season games are Sunday nooners except Dec. 3. Broncos here at 3:05p.m.

I wonder if that week 8 game vs Carolina could get flexed to prime time? Or is that only for games that are late in the season? Probably late season games.

No prime time games. Welcome to the suck. Wooooo. I really hope CJ can play. That’s our only hope in the AFC over the next few years with so many good QBs.

Typically exciting games. 2 rookies on 2 of the worst teams from last year are unlikely to move the needle much.

If both the rookie QB's are looking good, they may move it to p.t.

I think flex schedule starts week 12, so no Car.

Texans at Jets are the best chance because of the market NY has. Unless Texans vs Colts/Titans will determine winner of AFC South. Even then, for the AFC title it will be a 8-9 win team vs another 8-9 win team after 15/16 games. Not exactly two goliaths going at it.

Its a good thing that this is supposed to be an easy schedule because I see only six likely wins. That's based on last years teams competency and hopefully we are better than that now, so maybe one to four more wins.

I love all the noon games, but I thought every team was supposed to have at least one Thu night game? Am I wrong about that?

Week 8 against the Panthers on Fox will only be seen by locals in the Houston area, because the Cowboys play the Rams at noon on Fox too. Since they are both on Fox, Fox will show the Cowboys just about everywhere else in Texas other than Houston.

I like the no Thursday games or no SNF/MNF. Hate those games and broadcasts. One late start against Denver. OK.

The schedule looks decent. We make the right improvements I can see 7-9 wins.

Does Dallas get Texans games on local FOX/CBS affiliates if there's no conflict with Cowboys games? Would love to watch games without a 30 sec delay due to streaming and getting spoiled on plays and stuff by social media and beat writers. Though still sucks with having to stream Red Zone. Ugh.

only 3 top 10 QBs on that schedule in Rodgers, Jackson and Burrow. A couple more right below that level in Carr, Lawerence x2, Murray, Watson, Wilson but they all have some serious warts in some ways. We got very lucky with much of our schedule being bottom feeder QBs. If Ryans can coach and CJ can play at all, we could push 7-8 wins. If I had to bet now I’d go 6-11.

The schedule is pretty favorable after the bye week. I could see the Texans go through some growing pains and then go on a solid run for the AFC South banner after the bye just like the Jaga last season. Jags started 2-6 then finished the year strong winning 6 of their last 7 after their bye week.

I am expecting the Texans to be average to a little bit better then that this year.

We upgraded the DL, LB, S group with major upgrades.

The TE position was a major upgrade.

The interior OL was a major upgrade.

Will Anderson a pressure machine? Stingley a good corner in Demeco's defense? If so its not farfetched to think we have a top 10 unit on our hands.

It will come down to CJ as it did Davis Mills last year. The Texans played hard last year. They were in a lot of games and lost due to Davis Mills inability to make plays.

They just need the talent and you have to hope they got the QB right. Would have liked their chances more if Cooks was still around, but hopefully they can find a way to grab an upgrade at WR at the trade deadline if they are in contention.

But Alas, finally some excitement heading into the season and its a beautiful thing. Yall, its been yearsssssssssssssssss since we have had the opportunity to feel optimistic about the future of our football team.
