2023 TEXANS DRAFT DISCUSSION

Nice review. The only thing is that Wilson is not as "embedded" as he would want to make you think. When is the last time he ever broke any major news? I am hearing that the Texans at least at this time are not even sure that they will be taking a QB at 1:2.

[On a side note, someone should pay for Wilson to take a Carnegie course in public speaking and presentation. He is absolutely unlisternable. Meanwhile, he would be better off staying away from interviews and sticking to writing.]
Yea Wilson was saying the whole time Demeco would not be interested in the Texans job and it is lying season

Not really? Smith-Njigba and Johnston didn't run 40's, but the other top guys looked to be in the 4.4s.

I think teams that may be interested in Cooks are looking for veteran help, anyway. Cooks has lost some speed himself. But it's his contract and antics that have soured teams on him.
Hyatt was expected maybe high 4.2s or at least 4.3s. I was expecting some of the others to be high 4.3s

Jimmy G to Houston is starting to appear to be a reality. Heard it on 2 stations so far.
That will likely eat up half of the salary cap unless they do something stupid like Saints did with Carr contract.

I think Rakim took the pic.

Dude is so fast you can't see him!

It almost looked as though Howard was even better when he lined up next to Tunsil last season.

I would draft RT- Darnell Wright (Tennessee) immediately to fill the void. I believe Wright could be an instant gratification pick from Day1.

I’d also draft OC- Michael-Schmitz (Minnesota) to plug the biggest need on the OL.

Shift Green over to RG could be the right move for his second year.

One thing I’d be completely sure of…..the left side of the OL would be a QB’s best friend while the right side could become the running games best friend.
I always thought that Titus Howard should remain at right tackle. However he did play left guard much better than I expected.

This is asinine. I could understand if this 26K made them go over the cap or allowed them to sign a player they wouldn't have been able to if the 26K was applied to the cap.
I think it should have been Added to the next season's salary cap similar to an unlikely to be earned incentive with no penalty. Seems like Goodell keeps popping it to Houston.

The Texans have enough premium draft capital to get that RD5 pick back and much more in the process.
I may be splitting hairs, but the Texans have lost that draft pick forever. No getting it back, unless they can appeal it and they win. They can definitely replace it, but at a cost, by trading back in the draft.

Jimmy G won because he had a good team around him. He won't have that here, at least not in '23. Not to mention the fact that Shanny wants no part of him.

Dumb plan.

I find it pretty amusing how those out there who don't think much of the top of this QB class would rather pass on those guys and settle for guys further down the line.
I simply see it as not so much not thinking highly of this QB class but instead getting a veteran starter that less QB rookie can sit and learn behind for 2023

And you're assuming Jimmy G wants to go somewhere where he knows he's just being used as a possible 1 year (or less) stopgap. If I'm him I want no part of that unless the money is stupid, and the Texans don't need to be spending stupid money on that.

Sir I was just explaining this guy's Jimmy G plan it's not my plan but to be clear it may be a few years if Grap plays good. Yes and we know we are not him but this scenario is only if the Texans and JG decided to do such a plan not ours

I'm being more excited and interested in what the Texans draft with the other positions than QB. They are going to draft no doubt a QB and I will support their decision. Maybe go get a veteran maybe both. I'm just not thrilled about the difference between all 4-5 of the draft ones. Do the offense and defense positions upgrades that are needed with the picks.

Other teams have done the same "perks"............the Texans just chose the wrong person..........again...........

It added to the embarrassment of the League. Watson knew this was being done under the table. But, of course, I don't see Goodell asking Watson for the money back. 🤔

The Texans have already said that they would "comply" the League's decision.

I had recently read somewhere about that 5th round pick and the author was to explain in the article that the Texans have resources to compensate for that pick with something equivalent. In other words not a big loss. I didn't read the entire article of explanation. lol just did a glance. Is this a possibility idnk. Actually it may have been in one of these posts.

I never thought the Texans would trade up one spot & not for what was being speculated. That was all ESPN trying to create a story. NOW, the real question is, what kind of offers will the Texans get to trade down from #2? #2 is a lot easier to trade than #1. The draft is finally getting exciting for Texans fans. :D

I assume Bryce will be #1 pick. That leaves us with Stroud or another player at #2. My guess is we go Stroud. Very happy we didn’t trade multiple high picks to move up one spot. We need as many chances at getting solid players in the 1-2 rounds this and next year as we can. My guess is we probably do get Garopollo on a 3 year 100 million deal as well. Again just a guess though. Need to hit on 12, 33 and the 2 firsts next year to really get going somewhere meaningful. Stroud, Garopollo, and Mills as your 3 QBs looks like a pretty solid plan.

It’s not like the colts didnt try to invest in their Oline during lucks playing days. Anthony castonzo - 1st round pick, Ryan Kelly - 1st round, Jack Mewhort - 2nd round, la raven Clark - 3rd round.
In 7 years...........

Luck 2012-2018

Anthony Castanzo 2011-2020.........was already on the team. Although being a true warrior, he suffered through several severe knee injuries.

Ryan kelly 2016-present ............ has been pretty durable after suffering a foot fracture early on............unfortunately, when Luck needed him the most.

Jack Mewhort 2014-2018........last 2 years, could hardly play due to knee injuries that plaqued him from the gitgo and forced him to retire.

Le'Raven Clark 2017-2019.........The problem was that those 3 were chronically injured. In fact, I don't believe that when Clark even played in his short career, he was not significantly injured until he finally ruptured his Achilles

But even a greater problem was that the Colts maintained no depth to replace their oft-injured starting Olinemen.

It was, and I didn't really understand it.

Or, sign Garoppolo, draft Anderson with #2 and take whoever is left out of the top 4 QBs with #12.

At this juncture…..Garopppolo would know that he’s not going to get the keys to any teams kingdom without winning a competition. He will forever be a bridge QB from here on out b/c of the frequency of his injuries. Jimmy’s best shot, Texans sign him and he stays healthy. Jimmy gets another shot at the trade deadline with a contender.
