Nick Caserio - New GM

Are you saying similar to Goff, Stroud will go to as many Super Bowls as Garopollo?

What does Jimmy G have to do with this.

Would you rather me compare Stroud to Carr or would you like me to compare QB's by race and say Stroud is like Dak?

Well, you are big on championship QBs. Just making the point that the comparison you're making led his team to a Super Bowl. Just like your favorite QB.

Lets try to stay on topic. BTW, I dont think Goff and Carr are bad QB's maybe even slightly above avg. Which is what I think Stroud is. Pass at 1-2 particularly when taking into account who his agent is.

You didn't answer my question, who do you want me to compare Stroud too?

I have no idea who to compare him to. I haven't even watched any Ohio State games. As I've mentioned previously. I don't have any interest in mock drafts or evaluating college players. I tend to wait until they are in the NFL to have an opinion or to criticize. I only joined this conversation to make the point that you are comparing Stroud to a QB who took his team to a Super Bowl.

I think this is going to be a case of how much of Cook's $18MM GTD salary will Texans agree to pay. Caserio will probably think he has made the deal of the century by paying $9MM and getting a 3rd RD for Cooks.
Allegedly car stereo refused to pay anything to receive a round two and a round four from Cowboys last deadline.

Allegedly aside, factually Caserio paid $7.6MM of Roby's salary and instead of getting 2nd rd value, Caserio got a 3 and 6 in return. Loomis hoodwinked Caserio. GMs around the league know how to play their cards when dealing with Nick.

During FA this yr please tell us who is going to quit that Caserio signs/re-signs. Inquiring minds want to know.
Sorry, can't do that. I don't have those super powers.

But I can tell you which players currently under contract we should not extend for no reason.

Yep, he signed a quitter.

I can tell you that right after "I Must Restructure It" restructures that individual's contract twice, then cancels the last year of the contract, and follows that up with a contract extension that guarantees the full salary of the last year of the newly extended contract.

You can nitpick all you like but until this fanbase sees this draft, FA and 2023 season, they will not take you or the possibility of kicking him to the kerb idea seriously.

nitpick?

That was some objectively bad GMing. Has nothing to do with the upcoming draft, or the last draft, or signing/not signing FAs. It was stupid to restructure the first time. Dumber to do it a 2nd time. Of all the things Caserio had to worry about the last two years... two freak'n years... Cooks contract was not one of them.

Are you talking about Tunsil?

They need more players like Tunsil on this team not less. But you just keep on pinching those pennies. BTW, did Tunsil quit last time he signed an extension? He said he wants to be here for the rebuild and I believe him. He's young enough to still be a top LT when the team is rebuilt.

If you trade Tunsil what would be the minimum you would take for him? I wouldn't take less than what they gave up to get him since he's turned into a top 3 LT. There's not a LT in this draft that is as good as Tunsil or will develop into a top 3 LT. Jones/Skoronski/Johnson have a chance to eventually develop into solid LT's but not top 3 guys.

Was it stupid to restructure Tunsil or Cooks or both IYO?

Cooks. Cooks was the discussion. Try and stay up

And again what does that have to do with what’s being talked about. I’ve seen several bigger quarterbacks get planted by a big DL and hurt their shoulders.
Matt Stafford missed alot of games early in his career and he's neither a midget or unicorn. Andrew Luck isn't a small man either and had to retire because of injuries. Yet we see Jeff Garcia play 10 years in nfl and he was a slight man. Its the nfl where anyone can be taken out with 1 injury despite their size.

hmm... interesting
he's listed at 6'1-195lbs when joining the Calgary Stampeders (pre-49ers)

dude didn't miss a lot of games

Goggling I see Garcia was only 195 lbs as a rookie. He was 6'1". So his frame had to be similar to Young's. His playing weight later in his career was 205 lbs.

I’m not doubting any of that. Those guys were drafted where they were because they could play & they had the size. For them, size wasn’t about durability, it was about playing from the pocket.

Jeff Garcia could play. He was drafted where he was, partly because he didn’t have that size to play tall from the pocket. Durability may have been a concern, but secondary at most.

Young is probably a better prospect than Garcia coming out of college, I don’t know. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Young should be drafted in a slot between where Luck/Stafford was drafted & where Garcia was drafted (undrafted). I can see 1st round. I can’t see top of the 1st round unless it’s a really bad draft.

Why does it matter what part of the round it is? If that’s the guy you want and you know he’s not going to be there later, you take him when you can get him. We’re not talking Al Davis taking a WR in the 1st that he could have gotten in the 3rd or 4th here.

I have an idea that Texans may actually be more interested in Stroud. Think about it - how many times have we seen him associated with the Texans at #2 in mock drafts, etc, and this may suit them just fine - smokescreen?
Keeping their choice/s secret is the ideal scenario among most if not all GMs.
Maybe allowing a deliberate leak late in the process to see if they can stir the mix...
What think ye?

Because he's not the only person I want in the draft. I want Bijon Robinson, but I'm not going to draft him at 1.2

There are better prospects.

Somebody is going to fall in love with Anthony Richardson. Should they take him with the 5th pick in the draft? Even if they need a QB but feel there are three better prospects they should pick one of those three. That 5th overall pick has value, they could trade down foregoing those three better prospects but picking up extra draft capital in return.

If you have Bryce Young as your number one prospect, take him. I just don't see how he can be your #1 prospect. I didn't see how Kyler Murray could be anyone's #1 prospect either... so I'm well aware there are people out there that don't think like me.

But there are also people out there who believe there are better prospects than Bryce Young & will choose him anyway. That's not drafting well imo. That's the kind of thinking that is hard for a team to overcome.
