Week 10: Giant Gabongas in New York

Didn't see the game, I work Sunday's. Just looked at the very surprising stats

Hou NY
Total yards: 387 367
Pass Yards: 286 176
YPP: 6.5 5.5
1st Downs: 22 19

Did it look as competitive as the stats indicate?
The game was competitive. Texans just made a ton of key mistakes so the game was mostly 7-11 points at arm's length, but could/should have been within 1 score.

My biggest takeaway is that the Texans biggest needs are up the middle. Center, DT, MLB and safety. And Quessenberry got worked hard!
I would love everyone's take on Kenyon Green, because nobody is getting worked harder on the OL than him over the past 3 games (although Q is right there). Green has flat out sucked in pass blocking. I wonder if he's not 100%? Green and Q are why the inside of the DL is getting worked over hard since the Titans game, while Tunsil and Howard remain pretty solid.

2 good DBs in the same draft, a great RB and by the looks of it a LB. Not bad on Nick's part. The question is what happened with the HC pick? I have a feeling Lovie was not the guy. Was it messed up by the lawsuit or someone who was hired by another team?
I donno about Pitre. Great instincts and better cover Safety than I thought he'd be, but leaves lot to be desired as an open field tackler and with traffic in the box. He really needs to improve that area of his game.

Bring in a young HC who will bring in a young and innovative OC. Draft QB of the future and then focus draft on O-line or it won’t matter.

With regard to Mills, how many INTs did Peyton M have his rookie year? I’m not saying he’s even in same time zone as PM, but given talent around him, some folks need to set expectations accordingly.

Green has a lot of improving to do and I think he will. He didn't get worked near as bad as Q did though.

Pitre will be okay. He's acknowledged that he needs to play under control better. Right now he's trying to do too much

Harris looked really good today!

So you don't think Caserio should get the chance to draft players he got from his Derrick trade? What did you expect when Lovie was hired as HC? Did you not expect what we're seeing? Most on here knew the team was going to be bad and was hoping the team would have close games. That's happened.
I did not expect to go 3 & out on three consecutive possessions against one of the worst defenses in the league.

The Giants offense which isn’t so great marched down the field to start the game & the 3rd Qtr. That’s what I expected

We tried to establish the run but failed miserably, why? Why was NYG able to stop our run but Lovie was not able to provide as much as a speed bump to their run game?

edit: Add OG to that list. Cann isn't terrible but should be the backup so McCray can go elsewhere
Green got worked much harder than Quessenberry. I understand he’s a rookie & Q is a career backup.

Green had a bad, bad game

What did you think of Daniel Jones today?

I believe the defensive issues are scheme related and somewhat talent related. Harris has really helped the LB corps. He was all over the field today.

It was competitive, we just made too many mistakes in which we couldn’t recover from. Several of those mistakes was in the red zone on two of our drives. A touchdown was whipped away because of a holding penalty. Mills followed that up with a terrible interception. The previous time in the red zone DP fumbled. The biggest clunker was on the play in which Adkins was rumbling down field, after a beautiful screen pass. All he needed was one block and he’s walking in the end zone. For some freaking reason OJ Howard who was running in front of him, looked at the defender but kept running ahead verses going to him using his body to shield him. Banned that’s 14 points right there.

And Pitre missing that open field tackle at midfield, then Slayton taking it another 50 yards for the TD. Pitre makes that tackle, which was right in front of him with forward momentum, Giants punt. Instead, they get 7 points. That was bad.

I kept yelling at the TV screen block someone oj! Today Christian Harris credited with nine tackles total.

Nothing remotely the same .

He didn’t turn the ball over but he didn’t look good today either.
Yeah, I mean the bum was just 5 points off a perfect 158.3 passer rating, completing a measley 76.5% of his passes. But then he only needed to throw 17 times, just 5 in the 2nd half.

But Pitre doesn't make the tackle(s). Coming into the game he had the 2nd most missed tackles in the league. A season long thing that's a big part of the reason (not just his missed tackles) this defense sucks ass.

Not really. Just another game where the the score made it look closer than it was. The Texans still doing Texan things, making way too many mistakes, not tackling, not showing up for a quarter and change, not stopping the run, not converting 3rd downs, running the ball 8 times in the 2nd half, you know, same ol' same ol'.

I thought I was going to come on at half time & boast about the clean penalty free 1st half the Texans played.

Then some 1di0t blew a whistle at the 2 minute warning & Lovie’s team showed up & showed out.

The game started with babysitting Davis Mills so that he doesn't make mistake.

It didn't go anywhere either.

The coaching matters, the GM matters, the QB matters.

It doesn't seem like the Texans have any.

Not to mention the ownership.

Green is better going forward than backwards. His lack of athleticism is showing in the box.

I’m good with keeping Tunsil and Green. Center and right side is an achievable goal for OL.

DT, MLB, and a big tweeter S is also a doable goal in the draft.

Pitre is tasting the violence of the NFL. He was putting his shoulder into wrap up tackles at the start of the season, but as it has progressed he’s gotten into avoiding the impacts by trying to push the runners down.

He’ll be better next season when his body heals up and he adds more strength and weight.

In the race for NFL incompetency there are now nine 3-win teams. Raiders the only 2 win team and you know all about the Texans and their 1 win. And the Raiders had to beat the Texans just to get to two wins. The next three games are against the Commanders, Dolphins and Browns in that order. After that it's the Cowboys, Chiefs and three division games in a row to end the season.

I'm not sure I see more than two wins out of what's left of our schedule, if that. Maybe we can win four games this year, just like we've done for two years running now. LOL

To quote the TT philosopher who goes by @steelbtexan, "stats are for losers". At half time, the Texans had 86 yards and 44 came on a run by Pierce. After their first three drives and going into the second quarter, they had -3 yards of total offense. The offense was offensive.

It includes the obligatory 19 garbage passing yards at the end of the half. :brando:

Yes, stats are for losers.

The only stat that matters is the scoreboard.

The only one of those I really want to be a W is against Cleveland.
