I am guessing it shows the Giants had already hired Daboll before interviewing Flores and shows the only reason they wasted his time was to satisfy the Rooney Rule, which is racist. I think.

I am asking from a point of ignorance and trying to be educated so there is no follow up gotcha -

How is the Rooney rule rascist? It is trying to get the black community a chance at being hired isn’t it?

Isn’t that opening doors for the black community?

How else can it be done?

It's obvious that NFL rules may have been breached and may be addressed. But were any "laws" broken. If Flores is suing for "racism", then this is a federal case. If this is the case, then these charges overlap with politics, which is a canceled topic for discussion. Too bad.

If the charges regarding the $100,000 are filed, it may be a federal bribery case, which would not overlap with politics.

But Flores, in his statements, is saying he is doing this as a civil rights issue, so it's clear it is political.

From the optics of it alone, the Texans need to be very careful to the point they might wish they had just kept Culley for another season.

If they give the job to McCown, you know there will be national media scrutiny considering the past 24 months, warranted or not. That's the last thing Caserio needs when trying to sign FAs.

Exactly.. Say what you will about Bill.. He isn't a dumbass and doesn't make simple mistakes like this. I think it was straight intentional and killed all kinds of birds with one single stone. 😅 Best part is.. he implicated everyone else without bringing anything against himself..

Anyways this lawsuit is LONG OVERDUE. The rule while started in good faith, the way it's been carried out has always been a sham/farce since day one.

Flores is toast, I doubt he is ever a HC in the NFL again (unless it is for the Texans :)). Miami probably skates any tampering charges, Goodell/NFL doesn't want to give the Flores lawsuit any credibility. My guess is NFL will circle the wagons on this one. Ross will be exonerated. Make Flores look like a disgruntled employee. The problem as I see it, is if DW4 was in fact close to being traded to Miami, I doubt he is now.

BB was confused because he thought he sent his congrats message to Daboll but it was to Flores. Flores was confused because BB was saying they hired Daboll but Flores had an interview scheduled for the next day (if I remember the details correctly, please fix whatever I got wrong).

I guess I wouldn't personally say it's racist, but any time you force a team to interview a Black coach just to satisfy a rule, you are creating an environment where you are wasting their time. If I am NY and want Daboll to be my coach, why do I need to interview anyone else, let alone be forced to interview a black person? How crappy is it for the black person to be forced to go through that?

Let teams interview and hire whomever they want. Change takes time. There are more coordinators and coaches that are black than ever before. Eventually, more will become Head Coaches. It doesn't happen overnight. There doesn't need to be these fake interviews just to satisfy a rule.
 
"IF" DW4 was the player on the boat. Miami should pay Houston 2 # 1 Draft picks. Trade or not. Racism does exist but it is not Rampant. Owners want to win and they don't care who the coach is. If you keep calling people racist long enough some of them may start to believe it.

I was making the point that SteelB was saying something contrary to the post he quoted.

SteelB was saying Watson was the QB who was present, but the post he quoted was saying the opposite.

That's pretty much the story out right now.

But who's to say Daboll was given the job when Belichick sent the text? It's possible Belichick was told the Giants were most likely going to hire Daboll.

Meaning Flores would have to really wow them & explain the offensive problems he had in Miami.

Unless they have Daboll's signature dated prior to Flores' interview It's hard to prove

They hired who they wanted from the beginning, because Schoen and Daboll had worked together before.

They interviewed Flores to satisfy this racist rule and because the NFL approved this racist rule they are going to have to pay Flores. (Rightfully so) Anywhere else if you dont follow what your boss wants (Ross) you get fired and usually blackballed.

If I was in charge I would interview the valet at a restaurant I frequented for a HC position in the NFL and tip him a couple of grand, just to satisfy the Rooney Rule. The NFL is going to get what their woke azzez deserve. I hope Flores hits the owners for 100 mil.

Who wasn't following the rules

Miami - Flores didn't do what his owner told him to do and got fired. Just like you and I would. If Flores didn't want to do what Ross wanted him to do he could've taken his grievance to God'ell an/or quit his job.

Denver- Elway was late to an interview and according to Flores appeared drunk, This just in Brian, the boss gets to interview people when/how he wants too. You dont like having to wait then leave.

NYG- Brian, you didn't have to waste your time having dinner/doing an interview with an org you knew had already made up their mind who they anted to hire. You chose this
