No take aways from Buffalo game?

The Texans must have had a great game for there not to be a take away thread created until now. Or am I just not seeing it?

I predicted the Texans would lose this game 45-6. I gave the Texans offense waaay too much credit. Oddly enough, they had a chance to lead in this game early but Culley elected to go for the shut-out. So far, he's been terrible. He's been exactly what Texian and some of us thought he would be. Every time someone on this board mentioned what a nice guy he is, I thought of this scene-

Apologies - I lost interest just before halftime.

Offense was never in this game. Defense had its moments, thanks in large part to the weather. But once they ran out of gas the blowout was on.

Next game against the Pats should tell us where this team stands. Two rookie QBs head to head. Is this the first rookie QB head to head matchup of the season?

Ingram had a nice 10 yard + run I think in the second quarter. So that’s progress I guess!

And to think, they had a relatively long time to come up with that game plan. On offense it was the same game plan they used for the majority of the last seven years - run up the middle on first down, run on second and on third down throw an interception or take a sack. Where did the week one creativity go?

From coaching all the way down to the waterboy this team stinks. With Cal as owner I don’t see how it will get better.

That was my thought watching this game. They had extra days to prepare and this is what they came up with?

I know some of this is overreaction but is there not a street FA RB that is a better option than Lindsay? Guy is doneski

I don't know about street FAs. But there are a couple of guys with past success on practice squads. Jordan Howard (Eagles) and Kerryon Johnson (49ers).

My takeaway is I don’t know why you would watch that game?

I don’t know why anyone would want to reach a game when you know the product on the field.

On one side you have a team that could compete for the AFC Championship if not going to the Super Bowl.

On the other side you have a rookie 3rd round QB. A first year HC at 65. A team that 70-80% are new and on one year contracts.

Why would you watch that game?

Watch paint dry. Go for a walk.

Davis Mills looked like a Juco player. He had 0 confidence after a week and a half
The play calls didn't help his 0 confidence either. Kelly and Culley own some of this. Caserio, too. How he thought drafting Mills to be the primary back-up to an oft injured Tyrod Taylor was a good idea is beyond me. Really bad decision making right from the jump.

Now, if Caserio tries to nullify that mistake by, as someone else suggested, going out and spending some of next years draft assets for another teams back-up, I'll give up any and all hope for this team being competitive in the future. This is the bed they made, they need to lay in it.

This may be the worst played game in the history of the NFL.

Stats | Total Plays:42 | Passing Yards:61 | Rushing Yards:48 | Total Yards:109 | Yards per Play:2.6 | Penalties:10-100 | INT:4 | Fumbles Lost:1 | Possession:21:45
As bad as that is there were a couple of 1-13 yrs back in the 70's with the Oilers that looked as bad today but for an entire season.

Biggest takeaway was just how trash Mills is. MuH hEs A rOoKiE jUsT gIvE hIm TiMe!!! He’s garbage and the simple but always trustworthy eye test confirms that fact. He was a project, great. Cut bait and move on because he ain’t it. Can’t wait to hear from all the Pollyanna fans and Houston radio personalities trying to defend this one…

He had plays, but he dropped his head and made bad decisions with the ball. He put the ball in harms way early. On that ridiculous 4 and 2 call, the defensive player had his arm out before he even threw the ball. How can you not see that. The throw downfield was short. He looks worse than Tom Savage

I don't know if that was the plan. I've got to imagine keeping Watson on the roster made for a less than ideal situation.

But, I'm one of the guys saying it shouldn't have been this way. My plan was to never have him active this season. He would run the scout team, working with Pep on Mechanics, reads & timing.

But it is what it is & I'm not so against him getting snaps now. Preparing like the starter & taking some lumps.

The next two weeks should be good for him, unless the Pats & Colts start blitzing like the Bills. Maybe even win a game.

Then let him sit for a while. Hopefully Tyrod makes it four games or so. Mills comes back & we'll all have a better idea of what we got than if he didn't start at all until after the bye, or if he stays out there from here on out.

Right now he's learning what he didn't know he didn't know. He'll get to watch Tyrod address those issues, then he'll be better able to apply what he learned.

We have 29 players under contract for 2022. That's 54% of the team.

Even if you don't count the 3rd string QB, it's 52%
Only 50%?!? Well color me surprised mister! That changes everything! I sure do miss seeing a team with only 50% on contract next year vs the 70% I thought. That sure is egg on my face! How will I ever show my face in these parts again?

What kind of game did I miss then? I bet it was a close one. Down to the last second I bet! One for the ages! Oh man oh man!

I'm just saying, 70-80% of the roster is not on one year deals.
I dont have a problem if they were young guys ready after 1 yr deals. Ideally, you take on sub 25 yr old guys who didn't pan out and try to rehab them behind the 30 yr old. Thats not happening. So this so called culture of getting their heads bashed in isn't going to work. Like right now, who is worth extending a deal to?

How about activate Watson, make him play and if he refuses you void his contract then you dont have to worry about Mills or Taylor this season?
