Week 2: at The Dawg Pound

I'm scared of games like this, when the line moves up.
It's now the Browns by 13 to 13-1/2 despite all their injuries.
There are more houses giving the 13.5 points, too.
Really fishy.

Not speaking for the Browns but as a Texans fan the teams we’ve followed usually drop a game or two like this every season. Especially after playing a “big game” against a contender then going back and playing an expected easy win.

So what are these rankings based on?

The Aikman ratings take in to account, points, Red Zone efficiency, turnovers, yards per run, yards per pass, 3rd down % and 1st downs.

DVOA compares the success of every play versus league average based on situation and strenghth of opponent. An example, a 5 yard gain on 3rd and 4 is given more weight than a 5 yard gain on 3rd and 10. Picking up 5 yards against the Bucs will be worth more than the same 5 yards against the Lions, etc and so forth.

DVOA probably has it's flaws, but I find it to be a much, MUCH better measuring stick than even Aikman, and of course, ranking teams by yards alone, which is just dumb and doesn't tell you anything.

DVOA also doesn't really take into account ST's play either. (Hidden yds)

It's weird to say, "The Browns are going to be a real test for this team." But here we are. I just hope to see the same energy throughout the game that we saw last week. A team that regardless of the noise and criticism play together and competitively.

Nfl.com has same. 5 inactive for Cleveland shown (should be 7).

TEXANS
  • WR Anthony Miller
  • QB Deshaun Watson
  • TE Brevin Jordan
  • DB Jimmy Moreland
  • RB Scottie Phillips
  • DL Jonathan Greenard
  • DL DeMarcus Walker

BROWNS
  • WR Odell Beckham Jr.
  • S Richard LeCounte III
  • LB Tony Fields II
  • OL Chris Hubbard
  • DT Tommy Togiai

Tony Fields is a starter. This is a big advantage for the Texans. We'll see about Wills. If he does try to play, how effective will he be?

Lot of talk about Garrett, but I've not heard a word about the match up against Tunsil, one of the better OT's. Also the match up of Cannon against Clowney.

I'm expecting Tunsil and Cannon to negate, for the most part, their opponent.

golly, i loved it when the oilers played at the dawg pound late 80s, early 90s. warren moon, lorenzo white, givens, jefferies, duncan.. dishman, bubba mcdowell, sean jones, barrow, lathon. seems like so long ago.

good luck to our boys!

we are, texans!

Andre Roberts ONLY job is to return kicks. He fumbled, made a business decision by jumping over the scrum versus trying to get HIS fumble. This guy is cut Monday on my team. Did not even try and cannot do his single job
Can Miller return punts? Elevate him.

What if he has a big return later in the game? Still cut him?
