Texans trade for Ryan Izzo TE

We cut a TE who scored 11 TD's the last 2 years for a blocking TE? And, we gave up draft capital we can't afford (even a 7th round). The goal of the game is to out score your opponent. This stinks of the devil you know instead of knowing the devil. Not a good move Nick.

Actually Fells was a blocking TE and that 7th is in 2022 when we have our full compliment of picks so really a wash IMO. We saved 2.3MM releasing Fells, Izzo is pulling down $850K

So, they released a TE (Fells) with a reputation as a blocker who couldn't block and picked up a TE (Izzo) from the Patriots who was suppose to be a blocking TE who can't block?

“He missed all of his rookie year on injured reserve, but has amassed 19 catches for 313 yards and a touchdown over the last two years. He entered the NFL with a reputation as a blocking tight end, but didn’t live up to those expectations. Izzo was thrust into the top tight end spot last season with 62% of the offensive snaps. He had just 13 catches for 199 yards."

I still can picture the 190 lb Honey Badger manhandling Fells and pressuring Watson into a Week 1 pick. Fells did make some outrageous grabs in the endzone. Probably not a skill used frequently for the Texans in 2021.
