Week 17: Remind Them They're the Oilers

Tragic season, but glad we don't have to go another week watching the defense let Deshaun again or watch DJ run up the middle for one anymore this season. Time to discuss the off-season!
 
These guys have been playing football since peewee ball and there is zero game awareness. Why did they tackle Henry so fast, they handed the ball off with like 8-10 seconds, just keep him standing (slowly moving towards goal line so no whistle) up and then push out of bounds or tackle with zero on the clock.

Dj ran for 84 yards on 14 carries. If we had half decent coaches who understood game planning. We could have controlled this game & kept them from scoring 40.

Their defense is as bad as ours. Has been all year.

Not if they cut the dead weight like N.Martin/DJ/Duke/McKinney etc... get a LB or 2 in FA and add the best CB you can get in FA. Then add a slot CB and a S in the draft. All of this can be done despite limited draft resources. Gotta dip your toe deep into the FA water though.

Oh, I agree, I was just referring to the entire season not really just this game.

How much of Roby's performance this year was fueled by steroids? Reid has been regressing each year. The 4 years prior to 2020, Murray started 15 games on two different teams. Many fans in Cleveland, where he played in 2019, didn't even knew who he was yet received 3 years and 18 million here and the Texans are stuck with his suckage for at least another year. Conley is a FA the Texans need to run far away from. He's a first round bust, time to move on from him like the Raiders did when they found a sucker (O'Brien). Another wasted 3rd round pick (the cost of acquiring his services for one healthy and unspectacular season).

The Texans can absolutely not run this secondary back for a 3rd year.

Eric Murray will unfortunately be on this team. BOB gave him a horrible contract.

Conley is a decent corner, but I'm worried about his injury.

I think Roby & Reid are solid starters. "Hopefully" LJ can improve at safety and rotate with Murray.

I think we need to sign a CB in FA, will be foolish to rely on Conley.
 
Dont forget in the offseason our D will likely get worse in the likely event JJ wants to finish his career elsewhere.

Everything is not black and white , One play does not explain away 250 others and there are many shades of grey inbetween.

It's like those few plays where the OL blows an assignment , you guys act like its routine ... when its really more like once or twice a game , typical for an NFL game no matter the line or QB.

And really , my complaint recently isn't about his ability , its about the philosophy of throwing deeper routes.

Again , statistics back that up. #1 in yards per attempt , #1 in yards per completion , #1 in both intended air yards per attempt and intended air yards completion.

Those stats don't lie. They explain exactly the philosophy of both the QB and the play caller.

And our point has been and will remain, it's not his philosophy, it was the offensive scheme. We will not have that issue next season. You're complaint is with the system, not the player.

Conley looked pretty good last yr.

Roby is a really good slot CB that can play outside.

Murray, I cant figure out if he sucks worse at coverage or tackling. That slide tackle maneuver of his is pure comedy gold. Worst FA signing of the offseason.
