I doubt it.I was wondering if his dad would come here, maybe that thinking also factored in the pick!
Death to Google Ads! Texans Talk Tip Jar! 🍺😎👍
Thanks for your support!

The best news about Heck is that the Texans may not need the son to learn anything from Devlin. Just apply Daddy's lesson. That makes the assumption that O’Brien realizes Devlin blows!
Roderick Johnson has had just that problem. He and Heck need to work hard on keeping their pad levels low to be effective.............something difficult for a "giraffe."Best remaining OT. Those guys were flying off the board so you have to take him here if you’re going to get him.
I don’t think he ever starts. He struggles with leverage like most guys his height would. Good athlete, good length. Good pass blocker and decent in run game. Good backup player.
..but not impossible.Roderick Johnson has had just that problem. He and Heck need to work hard on keeping their pad levels low to be effective.............something difficult for a "giraffe."
Haven't seen anything about prior injuries; what do your "spies" have on Heck.Roderick Johnson has had just that problem. He and Heck need to work hard on keeping their pad levels low to be effective.............something difficult for a "giraffe."
Heck's only injury of note was suffered the beginning of last season when he suffered a hand fracture and missed only 1 game.Haven't seen anything about prior injuries; what do your "spies" have on Heck.
(I know you have spies everywhere, Doc. )
The Chiefs already has established OTs. They got their OT at pick #96, 30 places earlier.........and he is considered a project. If he was any good don’t you think the Chiefs would have nabbed him? He won’t play a single down this year, if ever. He is a zero on ST, and we have Rod Johnson that is a better player at this point. And we had bigger needs. But the capper to this stupidity was trading up to get him. It’s pathetic.
I'm thinking the Texans got him before the Chiefs could, hence the trade up.If he was any good don’t you think the Chiefs would have nabbed him? He won’t play a single down this year, if ever. Question, how can he be a 3 year starter at North Carolina & come out Raw?I will help you out, he's very raw but talented.
Bad coaching. The same as he'll find here.Question, how can he be a 3 year starter at North Carolina & come out Raw?
Supposition by one guy not even affiliated with the Texans posting click-baitOh boy. Already talking about moving Howard to guard. Why not just draft a freaking guard? SMDH
He needs to add strength.Question, how can he be a 3 year starter at North Carolina & come out Raw?
Pancakes is and always has been a joke. He makes educated guesses (same as most of us) and passes it off as editorial material. He's just a fan with a platform. Nothing more.Supposition by one guy not even affiliated with the Texans posting click-bait
Yes, but in this case it wasn't McClainPancakes is and always has been a joke. He makes educated guesses (same as most of us) and passes it off as editorial material. He's just a fan with a platform. Nothing more.
Oh no? Who then?Yes, but in this case it wasn't McClain
Some guy named Mark Lane I thinkOh no? Who then?
Sorry. I didnt piece together you guys were talking bout someone other then mclain. I didn't see it upthread either. Some guy named Mark Lane I think
He may need to add strength, but he is not raw. 3 year college starter, and has football in his blood. His dad is a former NFL player and current NFL OL coach. He is anything but raw.He needs to add strength.
Agreed. His timing and technique need to improve, but he will be a solid back up.I'll give it a B - like that he started 3 years against strong opponents and good background - if he develops into a consistent, strong swing tackle - I'll like the heck out of the pick (I see what I did there).
He also held up well against the Clemson/VaTech/N.C. St. type defenses and has experience playing both RT/LT.He may need to add strength, but he is not raw. 3 year college starter, and has football in his blood. His dad is a former NFL player and current NFL OL coach. He is anything but raw.
Agree with all of the above except for the bolded statement. Both need work, but Heck is far more NFL ready than Coulter. He also held up well against the Clemson/VaTech/N.C. St. type defenses and has experience playing both RT/LT.
However I hope he doesn't have to play this yr and can gain much needed strength with a NFL S&C program. If he can do this he can be special. He's got the feet for it. Former soccer player.
Heck is a slightly advanced OT version of Coulter at WR. Talent is there but there's alot of work to be done. If Heck can do the work then this will be a steal of a pick.
Well its because OBrien and Easterby didnt meet personally with any Guards/Centers and figure out if they can recite the Our Father. Trend this year was drafting the guys they 'spoke with' instead of actually identifying the talent available. They passed on All American/Conference type interior OL in order to draft this 6'8 NBA PF to get tossed around by the pit bulls on NFL defensive lines. Blown pick.
This is what I describe as Raw.Agreed. His timing and technique need to improve, but he will be a solid back up.
Well, I guess we can agree on that. "Raw" is such a vague term, you could pretty much say that about 90 percent of players who are drafted. Outside of 1st rounders, most players are raw. Even Jameis Winston who was drafted 1st overall was considered "raw".This is what I describe as Raw.
Hey SteelB how woul you compare this guy coming out of college and going into the NFL with another 4th round pickI'm thinking the Texans got him before the Chiefs could, hence the trade up.
Nice to see you have formed an opinion on Heck, even though I'm going to guess you've never seen him play a down of football.
I will help you out, he's very raw but talented. It may take a yr to get him up to speed, but right now he's better than Clark.
This is a pretty good comparisonHey SteelB how woul you compare this guy coming out of college and going into the NFL with another 4th round pick
we had recently at this same position, Julian Davenport ?
One thing of course that's apparent is that Heck clearly has gone against better competetion in college than JD which suggests a more rapid develpoment schedule at the NFL Level ?
Although drafted in a similar range Heck is the superior prospect. Better feet, more actionable experience.Hey SteelB how woul you compare this guy coming out of college and going into the NFL with another 4th round pick

This! His tape isn’t impressive at all. He plays WAY to high. Doesn’t get much push because of that in run game. Guys disengage from him easily when he’s run blocking. Typical downfalls for O linemen that tall. He has some good traits but not sure he’s going to be able to overcome his height even with his good athleticism for his height. No way he plays guard.Best remaining OT. Those guys were flying off the board so you have to take him here if you’re going to get him.

Now that I’ve watched the entirety of the the #Texans 2020 NFL Draft class in depth, here are my grades:
Ross Blacklock: B+
Jonathan Greenard: A+
Charlie Heck: F
John Reid: B
Isaiah Coulter: B
Overall it could’ve been worse. Thankfully there were no TEs, QBs or special teamers.

Missed one game with the broken bone and decided to play all year instead of letting it heal

Mack brown said on 610 that Heck played all year with a broken finger so that may be what limited his power and hand strength while blocking
