Are you guys still on board with hiring Nick Caserio as GM?

Yeah and Duke and clowney and cutting colvin
Im ok with those moves.

I just feel Caserio and Easterby reuniting here in Houston will be the best thing to ever happen to this franchise. These guys are competent, and will more than likely bring a guy in who can coach this team the way it needs to be coached. Caserio didn't become successful by screwing around giving unworthy people passes just to not be mean. Business is one thing, friendship is another. I seriously doubt Caserio thinks oh so highly of O’Brien’s weekly displays of ineptitude.

But that doesn't make sense. Contracts don't run for a 3rd of the year. As we know from last summer's fiasco, Caserio's contract would not be enforceable because league rules allow executives to interview and accept offers for a high level position. I doubt any of those provisions (contract ending prior to end of league year or the ban on interviews) would pass NFL scrutiny if Caserio challenged them. If Caserio and the Texans still want to be together after the season, I don't think Belichick and the Patriots can keep it from happening.
Definitely seems like some Patriots shenanigans

Bill's a genius. I bet that's why he's trading away all our picks, because he knows we're going to owe a few to NE for poaching.

Funky
Who is Cesario, what are his responsibilities in the organization? From what I can tell he's the next "I can has Patriots?" as a management interest for no other reason than "I CAN has Patriots". Sex Panther works 60% of the time all of the time ... Patriots' coaches/management on other teams would be lucky to hit 10% success rate in the past 15yrs.

Patriots' Bill Belichick, 67, leaving door open to coach into 70s
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- After previously saying that he didn't plan to coach into his 70s, Bill Belichick is leaving the door open to do so.

"When I said it, maybe I didn't know what 70 felt like," theNew England Patriotscoach said Monday during his weekly appearance on sports radio WEEI. "So I'm not really sure if that's an accurate statement today or not. At the time, I didn't feel that way. Now that I'm closer to that age, I don't know."

Belichick, 67, recorded his 300th career win as a head coach on Sunday (regular season and postseason combined). He joins Don Shula (347) and George Halas (324) as the only head coaches to reach that milestone.

For Texans fans who still want Caserio as our GM I'd say these kinds of comments by Belichick in NE increase the likelihood of his availability
after his current contract with NE expires next year, because I think most concur that as long as BB is in NE he will remain the HC and also the de facto GM.

So, the odds of Caserio coming to Houston may have improved just a little bit. Nice!

The only reason Caserio is probably even still thinking of coming down here is b/c of BoB & Easterby. What gives you the impression that Caserio would come down here & would be looking to jettison BoB as soon as he could?

Yeah I don't get this either, every report from all sources has said that Houston has the best chance of hiring Caserio BECAUSE O'Brien is here. Yet some think that he is going to come down here and fire him? If anything it is starting to make me rethink if I want Caserio because I know that if they hire him then they might as well paint BoB's name on the HC office because he won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

Ok, I don’t really think he’d fire Butt Chin but I’m sure Caserio would at the very least hire an OC if Kelly ain’t ready.

The strength in hiring Caserio would be in the long term. Him coming in and hiring an OC......You'd be a fool to think that BoB wouldn't have immense input in that. Now in a year or 2, BoB would probably have less input.

The biggest thing I can see Caserio doing is what Bob and Cal McNair should have done years ago. Sit BoB down and say "Bill you can't try and do everything out of fear that if you don't something will go wrong. You have to hire the best people you can and then let them do their jobs while you do yours. You're wearing to many hats and it affecting your job performance on the things you should be focused on."

I really do think Bill O'Brien could be a good coach if he would just get out of his own way. I can very easily see him has a great HC for his second or third team after he's calmed down a bit. BB wasn't BB when he was with the Browns and it wasn't till he got to NE, with all that experience under his belt, that he became the man we all know and hate but wish he was coaching for us.

I suspect Gaine got fired for telling him things he didn't want to hear.

Now we have yes man Jack Easterby giving him inspirational memes every day

So, Easterby is the Joel Osteen of football? Fake pastors making money for writing inspirational crap...lord! I can’t wait for a complete regime change down in Kirby!

Again we come back to the religion thing with you. You really do hammer this point home a lot. Hate to break it to you but my Facebook has more than a few Bible quotes on it, I don’t use Twitter, does that mean I’m not qualified to do my job in your mind?
I'm religious too. But I think this guy is a fraud. Is that even a religious tweet?

Mangler

Toro de España
And you base this on the many times you have met and talked to him of course. Also yes it’s a Bible verse though if it’s a direct translation depends on what version you use.
Calm down, Charlie. It’s not that serious! I believe Joel Osteen is a fraud, he believes Easterby is a fraud, while you believe he’s a high priest. We all have different opinions. Nothing wrong with that. We can take this to the Texans Talk Religion Thread, if you’re still agitated. Assuming there is such a thread.

It’s not about whether he is a “fraud” or anything else it’s about how every damn time Easterby gets brought up Kdog talks about his religion, calls him pastor and other such things that have jack to do with football. In fact that seems to be his only knock against him because everything you find about Easterby is rave reviews. So yeah I’m tired of Easterby’s religion and religion in general being used as a talking point.

You and Kdog don’t get to bring up his beliefs and comment on it then backtrack with this “take it to Texan talk religion thread” when you get called on it. You don’t want it discussed then don’t bring it up.

I'm not talking about religion. I'm talking about Easterby, who was the Patriots chaplain and is now somehow the right hand man to the gm, and I think that's ridiculous. It is just as ridiculous as making the accountant (Chris Olsen) the interim GM or making the Penn State grad student the OC

We are all judging players and coaches without knowing them
No we’re not, most of us are only judging their scope of work. How well they coach the team or how well they do trades or drafts depending on what their job is or for players how well they play or if they create problems for the team overall. Only a few resort to attacking them personally and seem to have personal hate towards them as people.

I've seen the owner be called Cletus, Deshaun get called stupid, lots of hatred on Rick.

Besides my complaint on Easterby is that he is completely unqualified. He is not a football guy

Religion has nothing to do with football and no place here …. this is a football forum , lets talk about football.

@Mangler No , the religion section of the forum was done away with years ago - the NSZ is the catch all for anything related to politics and religion.

You guys want to interject religion into the conversation , take it to the NSZ ….If you need a link PM me..

I'll own that one! bwahahahahahahahahahaha!! :heh: I mean, c'mon, he matched his clothes with dad!

Until that silver spooned goober does anything other than sign checks for this Belichick-wannabe HC, he will always be a Cletus to me. He's got to earn respect to be respected. Just being gifted a team by birth means nothing.

I also said he's too scared and cowering in the corner.

Belichick would disagree with this post.

Just say I hate all things Pats and move on.

If you also want to profess you're undying love for Watson I will totally understand.

What if BOB isn't on a short leash?

They have draft picks in every rd except the 1st if you take into account comp picks in the next draft. This has been proven false.

Imo ob is operating like he's on a short leash - and I believe he is.

1st rd picks are significant.

By the way I dont know your religious beliefs nor do I care. If I did I wouldn't attack you for it.

What I don't get is why Cal would put him on a short leash then let him trade future picks

Ob may or not be on a leash. Imo the timeline here is the Watson contract. You have 2 do everything possible while hes on the rookie contract.

It doesn't matter who the Texans bring in as GM. Gaine was considered an "OB guy" and good friend. OB ran him out of town on a rail after Gaine did exactly what he said he planned to do and how he planned to do it. Bring Caserio in and OB will run him out just as soon as it's convenient to.
