Game 1...Monday Night Football...New Orleans Saints!

Meh... didn’t expect much, given our history, I’ll take not getting embarrassed

You can come out of the wood work and tell me how I’m enabling the team to be mediocre. But admit it most of you thought we would lose by 30 .

Offense looked better than I expected, defense, hmm IMO, Clowney or no, with Colvin and the soft coverage we still would have lost. Running game hurt at times, but brees looked really comfortable and receivers were pretty open so I don’t think the outcome would have been different.

Hopefully the new people get more time with the team and we see less sacks as the season progresses.

*edit for spelling, and might still be wrong. On my mobile tonight and can’t type on it for sh*t

The guy made a 58 yarder. Don’t blame the coaching on that last drive, that’s what almost every d coordinator is going to do.

Great game 1 by the Texans, best they’ve ever been game 1. Excited for the season.

I can blame coaching when they're playing a prevent D when all the Saints need is a quick 7-10 yards and a timeout. That may have been a dumber call than OB has ever made.

So depressing

I'm just not getting this. I can't see how any Texans fan can witness the last Texans drive & not be filled with hope.

Hyde, Duke, Stills, Tunsel... weren't on the team a week ago but all contributed quite a bit in this game.

I expected more from the defense. That last defensive series doesn't make any sense.

We lost the game on a 58 yard field goal. It's not like those things are automatic.

We should be filled with hope.

O Brien still called a horrible game........ all those runs and bubble screens on 2nd and
Long is nauseating......... he only opened it up for Watson when we got down and Watson delivered...... O BRIEN YOU FUCKIN IDIOT YOU NEED TO PLAY LIKE WE PLAYED WHEN WE WERE DOWN...... we played to not lose when we was up and it bit us in the ass and Colvin is TERRIBLE...... I thought the slot corner was his specialty???? He got his ass ate up all game long..... if O Brien takes the shackles off Deshaun from the beginning we would of blew these guys off the field smh

The Saints blitzed the Texans heavily on 1st down, because they actually prepared for their opponent and know the Texans tendency to run play action passes on 1st and 10... So, over and over, the Texans ran slow developing play action passes right into the teeth of the blitz.... Finally, they were rescued from it with 50 seconds left to go in the game, because the situation dictated no more play action... All of a sudden, Watson has time to hit receivers downfield.

Obrien spends two timeouts for one review, which was not going to be overturned... not a big deal but symptomatic of an idiot.

Yeah, but they still had only 21 points until Watson was unleashed at the very end.

And the defense got a somewhat lucky interception on Brees in the red zone.

The good players did their jobs but there are still too many holes and bad playcalling.

Yeah, it's effing Brees. The Texans scored too fast. And Saints don't get final score unless Texans intentionally give up yardage to set up the FG. Not that special. A coaching staff with one mf'er with an IQ over 70 would be special. Apparently.

Dont be a sourpuss. Regardless of any coaching mishap, regardless the fact our team lost, that was shocking again and again for the last minute.

If that doesn't make sense to you, you dont watch football.

Have never agreed with TK this much. This is spot on.

The offense and ST did it's job. The defense is the sole responsibility of the ass't HC/DC
The HC/GM never has any responsibility ever. Got it. RAC's fault they blew 2 TOs on 1 play. RAC's fault the OL gave up a ton of sacks and let DW get injured. RAC's fault for the punt team substitution F up. Got it.

I understood it. Our coach is a dumbass. Anyone who can't understand that is dumber than the coach.

Your upset. Did I say our coaches weren't dumb? Quote that for me and post it.

Lol at everyone crying over Clowney still. He may have helped in run defense, but the way the end of this game shaked out...I am positive he would have jumped a snap that resulted in a 1st and leading to a TD for the Saints. Pressure always gets him.

Every year we fill ourselves up with hope and leave disappointed.

Lots of poor decisions lead up that FG. Let’s not act like it happened in a vacuum. Yes it’s one helluva kick. Defense screwed up.

17 years in and not getting blown out is still something to celebrate around here.

He lost Matthieu and Clowney.

I don't expect the defense to be good.

Even good coaches need good talent.

... because the organization is in shambles, being run by a coach who still can not manage a game and is a poor offensive playcaller, unable to adjust in game... I never wanted the Texans to sign Clowney to a long term deal, but I did want him to play under the franchise tag this year... and he could have been valuable today... and, if the organization planned to let him go, then there should have been work done this off-season to add a pass rush. IT IS A MESS!

That's fine. Still no excuse to just give them the chance. The Texans didn't need to play everyone 30 yards off the LOS. They needed to kill 6 seconds. Nobody is getting that far down the field in 6 seconds and getting a pass completed.

Don’t agree that it’s impossible for them to complete a better pass with a TO. It’s debatable. I don’t think there are many D coordinators that aren’t going to take their chances on a 58 yard FG.

It is what it is. This team can compete, I know that.

OK, give BOB another extension. Maybe he can trade Watson for 7th round pick. Then I will stop watching.

Yet this hasn’t applied the entire years before when offense barely had talent. Oh and let’s not forget how often you cited that BB would win with what he had. Now when it’s RAC that cost the team suddenly its”even good coaches need talent”. You have such a double standard it’s not even funny any more.

Last year OBrien had Watson.

Also the offense didn't have talent because of O'Brien.

Now the defense doesn't have talent because of OBrien.

1st half what was the score after plays you mentioned other than sacks?

I get it dude negativity is your thing. Do you. But I stand by what I said.. with you if we make a good play it’s ‘luck’ (the interception you mention) and yeah we only had 21, Saints only had 27 whose offense did you predict to be better going into the game?

There were positives in the game but your just “this sucks, that sucks, everything sucks” in EVERY POST

It would've been nice to have a timeout to call before the last play to talk over what defense to be in.

Wouldn’t have happened, BoB hasn’t gotten involved in the defense since he got here. For many it’s been the one good decision he’s made.

Give me a break, all of you acting like this loss doesn't hurt. Who on earth thought this would be a blowout? I sure didn't. And neither did Vegas: the line was 6.5.....not 26.5.

I expected a close, high scoring one score game, and that's exactly what happened. NO defense is always suspect, and Houston's sure has alot of holes now. I expect alot of games like this against decent offenses. Houston will roll over any team that can't keep up with them on the scoreboard.

But to act like this loss doesn't have any kind of negative impact? Take your head out of the sand. This team has a self imposed 1-2 year window now. They have got to close games like this. This team needs home field advantage if they hope to take out NE in the playoffs.

Up there with spending 2 timeouts on one play.
Ultimately, that had nothing whatsoever
... because the organization is in shambles, being run by a coach who still can not manage a game and is a poor offensive playcaller, unable to adjust in game... You didn't like the TD drives? Especially the one that put us in front with 37 seconds on the clock?

We lost the one guy, and Mercilus showed that he can still play. I get they can both play at the same time on most downs, but the Clowney thing is being way overplayed. It made sense for us not to commit to him long term given the medical history. I’m fine with it.
We didn’t have to commit to him this year. He could be hear right now playing and we could actually get something decent for him next offseason or at least get a third rounder if he left. There is absolutely no justification for Clowney not being here right now. NONE!!!!
