The Kansas City Chiefs have traded running back Carlos Hyde to the Houston Texans for offensive lineman Martinas Rankin, a league source told Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Hyde could find himself in a prominent role for the Texans, who lost Lamar Miller to a torn ACL during the preseason.
Why bother. Devlin and OB would manage to make a pro bowl OL look bad.I like the trade. Can we get some offensive linemen who dont suck donkey balls?

Rumor was Rankin was a likely cut as well.Great, so we trade for a rb who hasn't run for more than 3.9 ypc since 2016 and was likely gonna be cut anyway..
The Chiefs will probably turn him into a solid starter, Cal will ignore the fact Devlin couldn’t even manage to prepare him enough to even be third string. If Rankins develops into a contributor with the Chiefs, that'll be conclusive proof of what Devlin is as a coach.
I think it’s a decent trade too. Rankins was going to be cut anyways, so it’s nice that we filled a need and got something back. That’s a damn good trade! Duke Johnson and Carlos Hyde, man!! Good job Butt Chin. I’ll take this over just sitting on your hands, watching everyone else make moves...
I wonder what or who the Texans traded for that guy?Rankin was going to be cut. Everybody on this board seemed to hate him. What’s the big deal? Texans also traded for Pats CB Keion somebody...Corrian?

No big deal. Probably best move this a hole has made but that’s not saying muchRankin was going to be cut. Everybody on this board seemed to hate him. What’s the big deal? Texans also traded for Pats CB Keion somebody...Corrian?
The Texans don't have a third string. We typically carry 8 OL'men or maybe 9, likely this year. The Chiefs will probably turn him into a solid starter, Cal will ignore the fact Devlin couldn’t even manage to prepare him enough to even be third string.
This move was made to make sure each team could get the player they wanted off the waiver wire as both players were going to get cut. If you're saying it's no big deal because Rankin was going to get cut anyways, you're overlooking the fact that Rankin outplayed Scharping this preseason and that Rankin wouldn't be getting cut if they hadn't drafted 2 guards. It's a horrible mismanagement of draft picks and demonstrates once again that our player evaluation and acquisition strategy sucks.
If he did outplay him, wasn’t that supposed to be expected? Scharping is a rookie going up against starters, while Rankin is a vet who was going up against third stringers.Rankin outplayed Scharping in preseason? I'm not seeing it man. But I only watched the first quarter of each game or so.
Not even close. Scharping has been a turnstile so far. If he starts and doesn't play much better, our interior OLine will be worse than last year.Rankin outplayed Scharping in preseason?
Got it. You’d start rankin at RG over Sharping. Not even close. Scharping has been a turnstile so far. If he starts and doesn't play much better, our interior OLine will be worse than last year.
No, you don't get it. You don't draft 2 guards after you got 3 the year before and put yourself in the position of getting nothing for guys that should be developing and future starters.Got it. You’d start rankin at RG over Sharping.
Sorry Max, I think you're the one who ain't seeing clearly. This is year 2 of a 5 year rebuild. No, you don't get it. You don't draft 2 guards after you got 3 the year before and put yourself in the position of getting nothing for guys that should be developing and future starters.
Actually, this is year 6 of a 4 year rebuild. You, just like the rest of TT posters, have lost count. So, we’re -2.Sorry Max, I think you're the one who ain't seeing clearly. This is year 2 of a 5 year rebuild.
